Without a word, Tae s,id into Jiho's room, stayed, very, very quiet and laid down on his stomach, shimmying under Jiho's bed. He closed his eyes, hoping that him not seeing anything would make him harder to see as well.
He wasn't sure what he'd done to set Kangwoo off, he just knew he didn't want to get hurt today. He had been having an okay day so far, he didn't want to have to cry.
Jiho wasn't sure what was going on but suddenly Kangwoo was running up the stairs and slammed his door open, making Jiho jump out of his skin and almost fall off the bed. The bed creaked at his sudden movement. "Where the fuck is Taehyung?"
"I don't know! He's not in here, hyung. Go check outside, he's probably in the treehouse or he ran off again. You know Tae." Kangwoo glared Jiho and waited for the boy to look more cowed and submissive before he backed out of the room, slamming the door shut. Jiho waited, listened to Kangwoo go downstairs before he got up.
He hurried to his door, slid a chair under the door handle so no one could get in and then stood by the bed. Of course he knew he was there. "Tae... what did you do?"
"Hi." Tae held a hand out to touch the tiny boy's shoulder. He looked so sad! "I'm Tae. Or TaeTae. I think I'm your hyung." He had no idea what was happening, Cheon and Kangwoo were talking and no one was really paying attention to the children. That always happened. "Come with me, okay? I'll show you something."
He hadn't quite decided what just yet. There wasn't that much to show. But being away from those two was always a good idea.
Jungkook was scared. Eomma wasn't moving and the mean man kept yelling, he didn't know where he was and he was terrified. He was in his pyjamas still, they were frayed and had holes in them, the knees were scrapped up now. They never had a lot of money but he always kept clean and tidy - then the mean man pushed him around.
Tears ran down his face, he sniffled and whimpered but he didn't speak. He was scared and unsure what was happening, he held out his hand because he didn't know where to go. He wanted Eomma.
"That's my eomma," Tae explained to the man looking at the portrait. He liked looking at any pictures of eomma they had. She was so pretty! She looked like she would give good hugs and like she wouldn't yell or hit. Maybe she still would, but he didn't think so. Jiho wouldn't lie like that. "My hyung says I'm like a tiny piece of her!"
That was still the nicest thing anyone had ever said to him. Made him feel warm inside every day.
He looked up at the man. So tall! He had to be the tallest man he'd ever seen. "You are as big as the elephant!"
"Thanks, kid. I prefer giraffe, personally. I got the height, not the weight. I hope." Namjoon laughed playfully and tilted his head back, taking in the picture of the woman in front of them. She was very beautiful, too bad she married a scum bag. He couldn't even imagine what a child of a Dark Dragon was like, he just imagined little Kangwoos.
This kid didn't seem a lot like Kangwoo.
Namjoon crouched down to talk to him, not wanting to intimidate him with his height. "I'm Namjoon. How about you? You gotta tell me your name and then we shake hands, like proper gangsters." Namjoon held out his hand.
Tae came in slowly, so Kangwoo wouldn't hear him and then he sat down next to Jiho's bed on the floor, whispering to him. "I'm really sorry you got hurt, hyung."
He was sorry about that, but he couldn't be sorry for what he had done, because it had worked. Jungkook was safe now! He was in pain and he was scared and he felt bad for causing Jiho's beating, but it had worked! He had actually been a good hyung and saved Jungkook, even if only indirectly.
"Jungkook's safe." He had to smile. "I protected him."
That was the lesson he took away from it all and he felt happy, as hurt as he was.
"It's okay." Jiho didn't blame Tae, he blamed everything else in the world but not Tae. He had somehow, in his own unique, weird way, managed to be a better hyung in the space of a week than Jiho had ever been. Jungkook was safe and Tae was smiling, even if he had just taken a really nasty beating. He could tell it hurt, he could see the signs.
"You were a good hyung. Good job, Tae." He held his hand out and smiled, hoping the kid would get it and high five him.
He shouldn't encourage him, especially since Kangwoo just lectured him about not letting Tae do this shit but... he didn't want to stop his brother from being a good person. Eomma would have wanted this for Tae. "Jungkook is safe."
Minjun wondered whether there was any place more depressing than this club during the daytime. Probably not. He followed behind Cheon to the VIP booth, one hand in his pocket and his tongue playing with his lip piercing. It was new, he was still getting used to it.
"I'll let Kangwoo know what you're wearing, you punk."
"Oh no." Minjun wasn't very worried. Cheon needed his help, he was sure he could deal with his outfit. He sat down when Cheon gestured to a seat and then waved lazily as Cheon looked at the boy already seated there, gesturing to Minjun.
"This is Minjun. He can talk to you, he knows English. ENGLISH."
"...he really does think yelling helps." Minjun shook his head and looked at the boy, waving his hand properly now. "Hey. Can you actually speak English?"
Ten winced as Cheon yelled and then looked from him to Minjun, clearly unsure what was happening. Should he let them know that he spoke English? Cause right now, he was getting away with a lot by not speaking Korean. Then again, Cheon was getting more violent so maybe upsetting him wasn't his best move.
"I can, yeah. Thai, English and Chinese." He just wasn't so good with Korean. He never expected to come here, he had gone on a whim because a guy promised him something better.
And this was not better. This sucked and he hated it. He wanted to slip away and leave but it was trickier than expected.
"I'm not sucking old man dick, if that's what he got you in for." He had his standards, he didn't want to fuck Cheon's gross business friends. "That's not a language thing, I just have standards."
Jungkook walked behind Yoongi, holding both Ryan and his bunny. He didn't like to put down either so he often had the weary job of carrying both everywhere with him. It was quite the struggle but he was a lucky boy, he knew that. He had two stuffed animals. How cool was that?
He stopped by the room Yoongi had come into, unsure what they were doing because he wasn't listening. He had a habit of zoning out lately, he couldn't help it. There was always a lot and he got a little overloaded, he tended to filter a lot of stuff in and out. Looking up, he blinked at Yoongi, holding both toys very close.
Yoongi sat down in the doorway and pulled Jungkook onto his lap, helping him adjust the two stuffed animals. "This is your room. Well, it's gonna be your room, for playing. You can still sleep with me and Joon-ah, until you don't want to any more, but this room is going to be for all your toys and everything."
He put down the laptop he'd brought with him, opening it up and turning it on while he let the information sink in for Jungkook. "See, those boxes there have all your toys and clothes in them and they need a place to go. Plus, we really want to get you more stuff. Namjoon wants to buy you so many books and toys and I do too. But first we need to make your room look really cool, yeah? Are you gonna help me?"
he has a little dooly and he's telling him all about the episode they're watching as if it's the real dooly and i can't. he just said he loved dooly omg
"He's dead." Yoongi looked up from his phone at Namjoon, who was reading, kicking his ankle very lightly to make sure he was paying attention. They had known it was coming.
He leaned back and tried to come up with the best strategy, glancing over to where Jungkook was watching cartoons. "I will send flowers, wreath, whatever it's called. And we should go to the funeral. Big show too. You, me, bodyguards."
He hesitated, looking at his phone again. "Maybe Kookie."
Not the first time he had taken out Kookie, but it would be the first time outside of their clan. It would be a strategic move.
"Damn... we should take Kookie. Whatever it takes to make it harder for that asshat to take over." Namjoon didn't want to use the kid as a pawn but it was hard not to think of the benefits. He turned his head, looking over at Jungkook from where he sat, holding Dooly and talking to the TV every time it asked him something.
He didn't want to make it worse for the kid but this would be the best move.
"Maybe we should ask the kid but... I'll send the wreath, make a big show. We'll be as respectful as we can." It seemed like the classiest move anyway. "We should try to show we haven't forgotten what Kangwoo did. Even if I don't think Minjun is leader material, it would be preferable."
"Are you ready, Kookie?" Yoongi adjusted Jungkook's sunglasses, which he'd been gifted by Jimin and Hobi, which meant that they were brand and ridiculously expensive for something he'd grow out of in a matter of months. But they did look cool and him and Namjoon had matching pairs, which delighted Jungkook and delighting Jungkook was important today. They had to leave the car, someone was already holding the door open and Yoongi took Jungkook into his arms, making sure he'd not lose the toy he was carrying.
He also made sure his gun hand was free, because he was still Min Yoongi, not that he expected any shooting to take place today. "Remember, outside hyung can't smile at you or love on you, but I still love you anyway."
"I dunno... Dooly is scared. Don't let Dooly get hurt." Jungkook whimpered as his eyes welled up and he snuggled closer to Yoongi, looking over his shoulder at Namjoon. Everything was dark and tinted. He waved sadly and Namjoon waved back, holding up Ryan and the Bunny so he knew all of his friends were here. "And if it's really sad so not be loved then you gotta leave to love me and then we go back." That was his deal.
Namjoon smiled at Jungkook and ruffled his hair. "You got this kiddo. Remember, you have invisible glasses. Active them." Jungkook clicked the imaginary button on the side as they walked through the door, ready to hide.
"Fucking Minjun, that worthless punk, I can't believe it." Kangwoo muttered angrily to himself, pacing around the room while Cheon hung back in the other room, waiting for the exchange. Tae and Jiho were in the room with him, Jiho trying to keep Tae back. "You have no idea how much you screwed up, Taehyung. Do you know what you did to your hyungnim? You've caused him a lot of trouble."
"It's not Tae's fault that--"
"I didn't talk to you, Jiho! Shut up." Kangwoo snarled, glaring the older boy down until he submitted, head low, pulling Tae back another step. "I'm talking to the brat. The one who cost me money, my authority, who got me into this mess. A complete waste of space."
"I was a good hyung." He could hold on to that, no matter what Kangwoo said. Jungkook was upset and scared and crying and now he was happy and loved. It still made him feel warm to think about it. He knew he had upset Kangwoo, although he didn't quite understand how it was all connected, but the important thing was to be a good hyung. That was the most important thing. It meant taking care of the little one.
Of course, Kangwoo had never been a good hyung, so Tae doubted that meant much to him. "I didn't do anything to cause trouble. I just did it to be a good hyung."
"Namjoon-hyung?" Tae smiled a little, but he didn't let go of Jiho's hand. He had begged until they had pushed their beds close enough together that he could hold on to Jiho and he didn't care that Jiho would make fun of him and call him clingy, he had to know his brother was right there.
"I'm awake. But shhh, my hyung is trying to sleep." He was hurting, but slightly less now, with everything taken care of. He was quite dazed, given the painkillers, but just awake enough to still want to do something. It was an odd situation.
"Hey, sweet boy." Namjoon smiled, talking quietly as he came in, looking over Jiho and making sure he was okay. The boy was in bad shape but nothing horrific, just a lot of pain coming his way. Tae was better but not in any way that made it any less painful. He came to sit on his bed, stroking his hair back with a small smile.
"How is my TaeTae today? You feeling any better?" All he wanted to do was pull Tae into his arms and cuddle him but he knew this would take time. He had to be careful and gentle.
"So. Min Yoongi invited me to his place to visit the boys. He thinks I should post a picture of myself with them." Minjun looked at his phone and then put it on the nightstand and rolled over, pulling the pillow over his head and groaning as if that would make things better somehow. These past twenty-four hours had been very stressful, between reports that Kangwoo had killed his little cousins, then that Min Yoongi had, finally being told the truth by Min Yoongi and now this.
"The point is... they're alive?" Was that a positive? Ten didn't know. Last night they had heard that Kangwoo had killed them and honestly, Minjun looked shattered when he heard that. And then again with Min Yoongi. Them being alive was the best. He closed his eyes and sprawled in bed, rubbing at his eyes. Urgh, he was so hung over, he didn't want to deal with any of this.
"Hey, you two." Minjun closed the door behind him and Ten and moved into the room with the two hospital beds, smiling a little when he saw Tae sitting up. His face showed definite signs of the beating he had gotten, but he looked bright and cheerful - as he often did. That kid had an indomitable spirit, much to Kangwoo's chagrin.
Tae beamed when he recognised his cousin, waving excitedly. "Minjun-hyung! I'm here." Obviously. "Jiho-hyung is a hero, he beat up Kangwoo."
"Did he now?" Minjun stepped up to the beds, looking at Jiho. "You a hero, Hoho?"
"Yes, I clearly beat Kangwoo up." Jiho deadpanned as he pulled his legs up to his chest and eyed up Minjun curiously. He felt like shit and it was really embarrassing that he was even in this mess but here it was. His life. He bowed politely to his cousin and his cousin's... boyfriend? Well. He always seemed nice. "I'm not a hero."
"I dunno, you tried to kick a stronger guys ass. That's pretty heroic." Ten came over and sat on Tae's bed, beaming at him. "You must be a hero too. Look at all these war wounds? Such strong boys."
Jiho made a vague noise, not quite agreeing, tilting his head back to look at Minjun. "Did you bring us something? We're sick. You should have brought something. TaeTae deserves a present."
Jungkook was wailing loudly, tears down his face as he sat up from the floor where he'd been running and fallen. He had scrapped up his knee and a bit of his leg on the carpet, burning the skin off and now all was lost, no one had ever suffered like this and he wanted his appa. He wanted Yoongi. Hyung. Whatever.
Sobbing loudly, he stayed where he was, his arms out as he cried for Yoongi.
Yoongi had hurried over at first, but when he saw that Jungkook wasn't actually bleeding out, as he had assumed going by that yell, he relaxed a little, but he still walked over and picked his Jungkook up, holding him in his arms and hushing him gently. "It's okay, baby. Shh. It's all fine. We'll put a plaster on it, right? I'll take care of it."
Wasn't as if he never did that for Namjoon. Although, to Namjoon's credit, he didn't cry like this.
Yoongi watched his phone, waiting for Jimin to call or message him. He had better things to do than watch his phone, but he couldn't help that edge of anxiety. He chewed on his lower lip and tried to focus on the paperwork again, exhaling slowly. Damn. This had been a mistake, he shouldn't have put Jungkook in kindergarten. He had no idea what exactly would happen there.
"Yeah, 10am. It's like he's already out partying." Namjoon deadpanned as he pushed more paperwork towards Yoongi. "He's been there for an hour. Forty-five minutes without you." Namjoon had to pull them apart, it was a very tragic scene. Jungkook was scared and clingy, Yoongi was protective and glaring at tiny children. Eventually Jimin managed to coax Jungkook away and Namjoon had shoved Yoongi upstairs.
"They are all older than me. What do I even call them?" Minjun vented about it in English so he couldn't be overheard, pacing up and down and finally bouncing in place a few times before turning back around, wrapping his arms around Ten and hiding his face in the crook of his neck.
Hobi watched it all, tilting his head to the side and addressing Ten. "This is fun, but we should go inside eventually."
"We have a few, right? He needs to breathe." Ten didn't want Minjun panicking and fucking up. They had to be tough, badass gangsters. Somehow. Even though they were sixteen and just wanted to go home, smoke some pot and watch netflix. Love is blind was their current obsession. "It'll be okay. We do this, we establish power like adults and then we go home and fuck like bunnies. We can lock the door and put on music so the kids don't hear."
God, they had kids too. How did they go from kids to adults so fast?
Since Yoongi had been doing this all his life now and had been well trained and prepared, he looked utterly calm when he walked into the club where they were meeting. He sat down opposite Kangwoo, nodding his head. There were four men with him, but they stayed back, just there as the ever-present guards he was kind of stuck with. Being him came with obligations, after all. Such as having to deal with someone barely a grownup that he might have to kill for being so messed up there was no saving him.
"Kangwoo." He looked at him and wondered when he'd last slept. "You don't look well."
Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. He hadn't prepared for this, he hadn't been ready and he hadn't made himself look presentable enough. Well, he was still presentable. He had on a suit and he could bluff it and make it through. Even so, he hated spontaneous visits... was it spontaneous? Did he have a meeting planed?
God, he couldn't even remember his schedule any more. "I'm fine. Well. I'm very well." He sounded defensive but, well, he was defensive. "You don't look well though." Ha. There. Turned it back on him.

He wasn't sure what he'd done to set Kangwoo off, he just knew he didn't want to get hurt today. He had been having an okay day so far, he didn't want to have to cry.

He hurried to his door, slid a chair under the door handle so no one could get in and then stood by the bed. Of course he knew he was there. "Tae... what did you do?"

Wasn't as if he never did that for Namjoon. Although, to Namjoon's credit, he didn't cry like this.

Hobi watched it all, tilting his head to the side and addressing Ten. "This is fun, but we should go inside eventually."

God, they had kids too. How did they go from kids to adults so fast?

"Kangwoo." He looked at him and wondered when he'd last slept. "You don't look well."
no subject
God, he couldn't even remember his schedule any more. "I'm fine. Well. I'm very well." He sounded defensive but, well, he was defensive. "You don't look well though." Ha. There. Turned it back on him.
