"I know, it just upsets me. I hate to think of a kid suffering like that and I want to act, I just don't know how I could do anything to possibly help him. It drives me crazy." He wanted to go in there, pick up Tae and walk out with him but he wasn't crazy. That wasn't any option, not by any means. It'd probably get him, Tae and God knows who else killed.
"Hyung." Jungkook was there suddenly, pulling on Yoongi's pant leg to get his attention. "Dooly wants to make a cereal box castle like the one on TV. Can you help us?"
Namjoon had to laugh. It really did cut into the tension a little.
Yoongi picked Jungkook up and put him on his lap, wrapped his arms around him and looked at the television to judge whether he could help with that. "Huh... Yeah, sure. I can, but we gotta eat more cereal first, I don't think we have enough boxes around. Don't worry though, Joon-ah and you are bound to go through them quickly when I'm busy."
Namjoon wisely didn't cook, so the meal of choice was very often cereal. "Jungkookie, do you know what a funeral is?"
"We will eat so much cereal and then we can make a cereal castle. We also need toilet rolls and an egg carton." Jungkook informed him wisely because he had just watched them make it on TV and he was very excited to try and do it too. He wanted a castle so he could show his toys. He would be carrying Bunny and Ryan but Namjoon told him that they were happy sitting together so they weren't 'left behind'. "I dunno... is it fun?"
"No, not really. When someone dies, we go to a funeral and we pay our respects to the person who went to heaven." Or hell, in this case. "It's important to go."
"Oh." Jungkook frowned and looked up at Yoongi. "Is it for eomma?"
"No... But we should do that." He glanced at Namjoon. "We will do something for your eomma, you can help plan it, yeah?" Right after they did the cereal castle. Or something like that. Yeah, having a traumatised kid really wasn't easy.
"But the man who died, he's Taehyung's father. He wasn't a very nice man, but he was an important man, you see? So there is a big funeral where everyone goes and pays respects. There will be some of the bad men, but Namjoon and me and our men will be there too. And Taehyung."
"We can organise something. It'll be a nice send off for her, yeah?" Jungkook nodded his head and hugged Dooly, leaning down to whisper to Dooly about his eomma. It was hard to have a traumatised kid, it had so much whiplash emotionally. He was just glad that Jungkook felt comfortable with them.
Listening as they spoke, Jungkook tried to contemplate what was being said but it was hard to. On one hand, Tae ... on the other, bad men. Bad men who knew Tae. Bad men who took him. He whimpered and curled into Yoongi, shaking his head. "No." He couldn't, it was too scary. "They'll take me."
"Never. Kookie, never. Okay? We'll be there and no one is gonna touch you. You don't even have to stay long or see anyone bad. I can just make sure you get straight to Tae."
"If you really don't want to, that's okay. But I'd hold you the whole time, if you went. I'd carry you and then you can go right into the car. Dooly could come too." Yoongi wished he wouldn't have to even ask this for him, but he knew what a difference it could make and it really was a comparatively easy thing to do, there was no risk involved. Of course, that would feel different to Jungkook. "You don't have to look at anyone. Only maybe Taehyung, if you want to. Maybe we could even bring a present for him?"
"Of course, they can come too. I'll hold them for you so you can hold Dooly and Yoongi properly, yeah?" Jungkook nodded his head a little and hugged Dooly, leaning into Yoongi so he could press against him, seeking out that warmth and reassurance.
"I'll come if I can hold you and see Tae. And all my friends can come so if something bad happens, they can protect me with you and Namjoonie-hyung." Jungkook insisted, that was the deal he was willing to make. He was gonna bring an army. "Can I also have -- have an invisibility cloak so they can't see me?"
"Er." Wait. "How does an invisibility cloak look?" Yoongi wasn't quite sure what was expected of him here, much as he didn't want to deny his boy anything. He ran his fingers through Jungkook's hair and worried his lower lip. "We can definitely give you one. I'll make sure you are the safest and most protected. Hobi and Jimin might be there too."
They would be, if that would comfort Jungkook at all. He'd just make them go.
"It goes over you and no one can see you but you can see them and it helps you not be scared." Namjoon hmmed as Jungkook mimed putting something over his head. He considered it for a few, wondering if a child turning up in a ghost costume to a funeral would be deemed 'insensitive'. Probably.
"What about invisible sunglasses? I got those. You put them on, press a button and you can see everyone but they can't see you?" That was the most practical solution he could think of right now - he just had to get some tiny kid sunglasses. Jungkook nodded in approval and nuzzled against Yoongi.
"If Jiminie and Hobi-hyung come then we'll be so protected so no one can touch me ever, ever, ever."
"Oh yeah. I'll be wearing sunglasses too, so we'll match." Which was a slightly adorable thought, honestly. He smiled at Jungkook nuzzling him and nodded. "Yeah, they'll keep you so very safe, they love you. Love you enough to spend way too much money on clothes."
He was amused by it. Whatever, right now Jungkook seemed to enjoy having so many things to choose from. "For the funeral we'll need to get you a suit. Maybe we can get you one to match with mine there too. Black shirt, black tie, all black."
Well, he liked black. "But we can wear fun underwear."
"I wanna look like Yoongi-hyung! Yes! Can we have the same underwear?" The idea made him giggle at how silly it was but he was very excited to look like hyung. They would have the same sunglasses and everything, he would be a big boy the whole day too. He would face bad men and be brave. "Namjoonie-hyung, you gotta match with us too!"
"So we're all gonna wear the same thing?" Well. Luckily it was a funeral so a lack of options was already a thing. "I'm game."
"All black but then we have dinosaur socks and ... and pandas on our undies!" Jungkook bounced a little. "But no one can know but us cause you don't show your underwear to people." A lesson learned recently when lowered his pants to show one on Yoongi's unfortunate guards his new underwear.
"Sounds good." Well, it was a funeral, it wasn't as if there was a lot of choice over what to wear. Besides, he actually liked the idea of secretly wearing fun underwear and socks, especially to the funeral of such an asshole. "After the funeral we can go have barbecue, that's going to make you feel better."
Besides, it gave him something to look forward to too. "Do you want to give Taehyung anything?"
"I like barbecue. You can cook and Namjoon can not touch things." Cause last time, he turned on the thing and nearly burnt himself. Namjoon rolled his eyes, smiling at Kookie before he pulled out his phone to organise what Yoongi was going to need for this. Work didn't stop, even if he had the cutest little boy ever.
"Can we get Tae a stuffed toy? He says he's too old but Namjoonie has lots and lots of them. So does Jiminie! We can get himmmmmm... a bunny." Cause he liked bunnies and Tae said they lived on the moon. "A moon bunny."
"Oh yeah? What's a moon bunny, do they look different? Maybe we can get him a small little bunny, sure." Honestly, Yoongi doubted that Tae would be allowed to keep anything given to him, but it would make Jungkook feel better. Besides, he was a little kid too and if it meant he had a little toy to hold during the funeral at least, that was something. He doubted he'd get comfort anywhere else.
"Tae said that the bunnies live on the mood. I think they're green." Aliens were green so alien bunnies would be green. "He told me when I was sleeping with him in his bed. He said that bunnies live on the moon and one day, we could fly there together but Tae has to be a big boy to do that." And he wasn't yet. When he was, Jungkook was sure they'd still go but he'd have to make sure Yoongi and Namjoon came too.
Otherwise it'd be scary. "Tae wishes on stars for me."
"Yeah? He wished on Namjoon for you too and it worked." Aw. This was sweet and quite sad, because Yoongi had to deal with reality and he honestly didn't know how much longer Tae would even be alive. He wanted to find a way to save him, but he hadn't yet and he wasn't sure if it could be done at all. He'd have to try, of course, for Jungkook and Namjoon if nothing else.
"Lots. He's wise and smart but he's not very big. He wanted to protect me but Kangwoo was bigger and he smacked Tae real hard. He said that his hyung will take care of him but I never met his hyung. Tae said he's reaaaaaaaaaally quiet but he's good. They hide." Jungkook explained as best as he remembered, playing with Dooly's nose as he talked. "Hyung said that Tae was a little piece of his eomma. I hope I am too."
"At the party, Tae talked about his loving hyung and I thought it was Kangwoo for a second, I was so confused." Namjoon laughed but it wasn't really funny. "Poor kid."
"Jiho... He's ten now. Bit of a shy boy." Which was probably his saving grace in some ways, Kangwoo would prefer the brother he felt was easier to control. Although why he'd look at a ten and seven year old as rivals was... Well, it was paranoia. The only reason that even now Minjun had any kind of standing as a potential alternate was the whole Jungkook mess.
"Good to know they have each other, I guess." Yoongi tickled Jungkook a little for a few moments, smiling. "You are a piece of sunshine. I bet you have a lot of your eomma in you."
"I never see Jiho around much. I think Kangwoo only brings him out when he's told to by their dad. He's not really a crime family sort of guy, he likes it just to be him." Probably afraid that Jiho would somehow challenge him. As if. That kid always seemed cowed and afraid. It was unlikely he'd ever challenge.
"I'm sunshine! Hobi says I'm a little bunny." Kookie scrunched up his nose and wiggled to playfully, holding his arms out for a hug from Yoongi. "Your little bunny."
