"Yeah?" Yoongi opened up google and typed in something, then gently coaxed Jungkook to turn around again. "Would you like your room to be all dinosaur themed then? Like this one? Or more like that one, so the dinosaurs look more like from a cartoon?"
Yoongi indicated a few pictures, just wanting Jungkook to feel as involved as possible in this whole process. "I think this one is a bit too scary, Namjoon would be scared every time he goes into your room..."
"It is scary. Dinosaurs have big mouths and they're scary cause of all the teeth. Look at how many teeth! They're like raaaaawr!" Jungkook opened his mouth wide and copied the dinosaurs as much as he could, trying to show how scary it is. "Cartoon dinosaurs look like they'd be nicer. Cause they don't have as many sharp teethies."
Squirming around in Yoongi's lap, he went back to nuzzling his shirt, his attention span all over the place, as expected from a four year old. "We have to have some bunnies too cause otherwise my bunny will get scared and hop away." He paused, thinking about it as he played with Yoongi's buttons. "We also need Ryan to feel safe. Namjoon-hyung knows him best so he should ask him what he wants too."
"We'll ask him, yeah. That's a smart idea." Yoongi smiled and ran his fingers through Jungkook's hair. "I think maybe we can just do a nice landscape on the wall, so it looks like a bit of forest, bit of grass, bit of water and sky all over it and then we can get pictures of bunnies and bears and dinosaurs and you can always put them on the way you want to." That seemed like a good idea for his little boy with so many interests.
"And we need to get you a little table for playing and drawing... Which one do you like, Jungkookie?" Once more he showed off a few pictures. "Need to get you a really soft rug too, so we can play wrestling and fighting." Well, he had played a lot with Jungkook in the last week.
"You're very smart, Yoongi-hyung. I like the land-land-- I like the grass." Close enough. Same thing. It would look like outside but inside and have bunnies, bears and dinosaurs so all his friends could play and get along. Not that he had a consistent dinosaur friend yet, he just had his animals. His eomma couldn't afford dinosaur toys so he mostly had the books but he loved those too!
"Uhhhhhhhhhh. That one!" Jungkook leaned forward and poked the table that was a nice yellow colour with a little chair - it was winnie the pooh themed. He liked bears. They would go well in his room. "Will you play in my special room a lot with me?"
"Oh yeah, I'll play with you whenever I have time. Promise." Honestly, they'd have to find other people that Jungkook felt at ease with, but they would slowly work on that. For now the boy still got used to how things were now. Besides, he didn't want to take him out too often, the heat with the Dark Dragons was still on.
But planning his room here? That was easy fun. He let Jungkook pick out a rug and then even showed him that he immediately ordered it, as well as a dinosaur themed lamp. The room would be a bit all over the place, but hopefully in a fun way. He was sure it would be cool. "Hey, shall we find you a dinosaur stuffed toy? What kind of dinosaur would you want, Jungkookie?"
"Good cause I hate when you're gone. I like Namjoon-hyung but you're ... you're safe." He was the safest. It wasn't that Namjoon couldn't protect him but Yoongi was the one who saved him, held him, protected him. He was his hero and he was afraid to be apart. Whenever he was gone, Jungkook sat near the door and waited, eager and yearning. He was struggling a little to relax without him but Namjoon was trying. It was understandable. The kid had been through a lot.
"I don't know." He wriggled around in his lap and then looked at the screen, watching the dinosaur toys with a curious expression. One caught his eye and made him leap forward, gasping with excitement. "Dooly! It's Dooly! Did you see him? He's on my TV! We play together!"
"Oh wow! That's that same little guy you watch, yeah." He had heard him excitedly pointed out to him quite often, so of course Yoongi immediately clicked it and bought it. "See? He's being delivered tomorrow now, so next time you watch him on TV, you can also cuddle him!"
It was so fun to talk to Jungkook. He could show so much more emotion and enthusiasm than he normally ever did, about the silliest things. It was freeing in a way. "We'll have a lot of fun... I want to get you more toys just so we can play together." Seemed like a good reason to him.
Jungkook bounced up and down with excitement, his little butt jigging up and down because he couldn't stay still with the happiness bubbling in him. Yoongi and Dooly! He'd have the best company ever. He would be able to carry all of his toys to watch TV or to bed with him and everyone would be friends. He'd make sure of it. He turned to Ryan and his bunny, grinning. "We're gonna have Dooly come over and play!"
They looked excited! To him, at least. He finally sat back down in Yoongi's lap, hugging him around the middle so he could press his head against his chest. He could hear hyung's heart beating sometimes if he did this. "I want to play with you too. I like when we play. Me, you and Dooly can play with my blocks."
"Yeah? I really like your blocks. Do you wanna play with cars too, maybe?" Was this the right age for cars? Yoongi didn't even know. All he knew was that he was still on the right site to buy stuff, so he typed in car play set and purchased the most expensive one that looked as if it was actually worth the price. Then, when he wasn't sure whether he came with cars, he just purchased some of those as well.
Hey, cars were fun. "All right, I think hyung needs to step away from the computer before he buys everything for you."
Yoongi laughed and ruffled Jungkook's hair. "Do you want to help me make food? What do you feel like eating?"
"Brummmmmm." Jungkook offered helpfully as he giggled and turned around, beaming up at Yoongi. He was the best hyung. Well. Tied best hyung cause his TaeTae hyung was still a hero and the best too but he didn't get to be with him and he wasn't a big boy. Yoongi was. He was a grown up and he could take care of him. He gathered up his toys and tried to hold both of them as best as he could.
"We're ready to go, hyung! We can cook together. Do you think Dooly can cook?"
He did have to wonder. He struggled to get up without the use of his arms, tumbling back into Yoongi's lap. Holding two stuffed toys was hard!
Yoongi picked Jungkook up so he wouldn't have to struggle so hard with his two toys, carrying him over into the kitchen, where he sat him down on the counter. He kissed the tip of Jungkook's nose and then stepped back, opening the fridge and hoping for inspiration. "Dooly can maybe cook, but he's still young, right? He might need a hyung to help too."
Stood to reason. "Or maybe he's like Namjoon. He can't cook. That's why he always just gives you snacks until I come home."
"He makes whoopsies a lot." He was always dropping stuff, breaking stuff and spilling. All bad things. He told Namjoon that these were things that earn corner time and his hyung had been very interested. He was glad that he could help. He loved being useful, he watched Yoongi looked and considered what would be a good dinner. "Hyung, can we have fried rice, please? With peas and carrots."
He was a good boy, he always remembered his vegetables.
"Yeah, we can. You like peas and carrots?" And if they were something Namjoon didn't eat, he could just pick them out. Whatever, he was a grown up. Yoongi checked the vegetable drawer and then started peeling the carrots, smiling at Jungkook.
"Namjoon is a bit of a mess, but we love him anyway, huh?" He certainly couldn't help it. Not that he'd want to. "You know, he's the one that found out about you and he's the one who told me that we need to go get you. And I'm so glad he did, because now you are ours. And we are yours."
"He told me that Tae told him. I think Namjoon hyung is really, really smart and he's so nice to me. He gives good hugs, doesn't he?" He did a lot of things for him that were small really but counted up a lot throughout the time they had. He was the one that cleaned the sheets when he had accidents so Yoongi could hold him, he was the one that helped him brush his teeth if he had trouble with it, cleaned up spills and worked twice as hard so he could be with Yoongi.
"We should make something nice for Namjoon cause he's been very, very good lately." Jungkook smiled in earnest, hugging his stuffed animals close. "I do miss Tae-hyung. He was a very good hyung too."
"We can do a nice surprise for Namjoon... He likes chocolate, so when I'm done prepping the fried rice, we can make chocolate cookies, huh?" Who didn't like those? He could use a fresh chocolate cookie right now. Maybe it was because he kept calling Kookie Kookie, kind of put him in the mood.
"Taehyung, yeah. He saved you after all. I bet he'll be really happy when he finds out that you're happy, we'll make sure he knows." Whenever and however, that was more of a mystery.
"I want you too. He got hit. They came in running and yelling, I was scared and then he got hit, he was screaming and..." Like that, Jungkook's whole manner changed, he curled into himself and hugged his stuffed toys. It happened sometimes. The memories were still hard, sometimes he cried randomly without warning, he had nightmares and he still couldn't go near the wardrobe. It just reminded him of hiding.
"He's a good boy, hyung. It's just that there's monsters after him and they keep him locked up." In his head, Kangwoo and Cheon were monsters. They looked like them, moved like them, sounded like them. He shivered. "Bad men."
"Yeah, I know." If it wasn't for Jungkook telling him, he certainly got enough of Namjoon reminding him. He moved over and kissed the top of Jungkook's head, unsure what to say. "He's a good boy and a brave boy and such a good hyung to you, I'm sure he'll be able to keep the monsters away."
Oh, he wished. "And the bad men and monsters can't touch you now. You know hyung is scarier than the monsters, right?"
"I know. You showed all those monsters when you came and saved me. You scared the monsters." And that was why Yoongi was the safest. Monsters feared Yoongi, everyone did. He was always safe with him. He kissed both of his toys and whispered to bunny. "We're safe now. We have Yoongi-hyung, Joonie-hyung and Ryan. Ryan isn't a hyung, I think he's still a baby."
That was okay, he was a good hyung to all his stuffed toys. He looked up at Yoongi, smiling. "Love you, hyung."
"Love you too, Jungkookie." That said he hugged him closed once, then stepped back so he could go back to cooking. "You know, when hyung goes outside, he has to act scary, because of the monsters. So I can't smile at you and hug you and kiss you when others can see, but that doesn't mean I love you any less. It's just a trick we're playing on the monsters."
The sooner he found a way to explain the disconnect to him, the better. "I want to go outside with you eventually, so all the monsters know that you are mine. Not yet, later some time."
"I understand, you gotta scare off all the monsters." It made sense to Kookie. He was learning a lot about Yoongi. He was talking about it with Namjoon hyung. He had explained already that there were two Yoongis - real Yoongi and gangster Yoongi. "When you're outside, you're gangster Yoongi so you gotta be scary so no one picks on you. I get that. Bullies are mean."
Jungkook was getting it. "I want to stay inside. It's safer here. Maybe one day. Later. Not today or tomorrow." He didn't want to go out anyway.
"Nah, not today or tomorrow. We have all we need here, don't we?" The apartment was definitely more than big enough, hell, they even had a terrace if they really wanted to go outside, a concept that had astounded Jungkook a lot the first time he'd discovered it. He was starting to feel at home, but it had still only been a short while, so he wasn't pressuring him in any way, just trying to make sure he was ready.
"I have to work tomorrow, but Namjoon is gonna be there and also a friend of ours, Jimin. He's really sweet, he's good at playing. He can't wait to meet you."
"Okay, I'll meet him. He's coming the same day as Dooly so maybe they're already friends and they're coming together." He could imagine a dinosaur shaped babysitter, honestly. He was just unable to stop wanting tomorrow just for the dinosaur plushie. He smiled as he watched Yoongi frying rice for him, feeling very loved and taken care of. It was still scary, things were different and he did wonder if eomma would ever come back.
But if she didn't, he was very happy here. He loved Yoongi and Namjoon. They took care of him and loved him. The best.
