"Books would be cool, yeah?" Yoongi looked at Jungkook and smiled reassuringly, thinking how he could best make this work. "Can Kookie come with us, hyung? I'll carry him." Then he could hold him and he'd get toys and books, that seemed like the optimum solution. Especially since afterwards they could still just go home and snuggle, it wasn't as if that was running away from them.
"Of course, he can help us pick them out. And if us three are going on, that means I should definitely go wrangle our final kid." Namjoon walked by, ruffling Yoongi's hair affectionately. He always tried to use physical contact with Yoongi, he knew the other craved it and he wanted to encourage him to enjoy it, not fear it. "TaeTae? Are you hiding? Come on out."
Jungkook pulled back a little and looked at Yoongi before leaning in to nuzzle him. "Yoongi-hyung?" While young, he was very polite, flawless with his honorifics. "Why do we live here now?"
"Do you mind it?" Yoongi frowned, wondering where the question came from. He had seen Tae under the bed drawing before, so he assumed that was still what he was doing, off in his imagination where he was probably drawing a treasure map or something like that. "We live here, because Jin-hyung and Namjoon-hyung, they want to keep all of us. That way we can stay together. And we don't have to worry about someone getting sick like Jiminie, because Jin-hyung can make everyone better. And he makes bunny food, that's cool, yeah?"
"It's cool ... but when do we go?" They always left. They never stayed anywhere. Ever. Not even when he had his mom and dad did he stay in the same place, sometimes they left, sometimes he left, sometimes someone came and took him. He had a live of movement so the idea of being fixed in one place? It was odd. "I like the bunny food, it's tasty." Everything here was - which is why it'd be so sad to leave eventually. "Books are hard to carry."
"They don't want us to leave. They like us with them forever. So if we don't want to live, we can stay." Damn. Yoongi desperately hoped that would actually be true, he couldn't face the idea of letting Jungkook down that way. "You know the workers that we hear sometimes? They are working on the place next door, they will make that part of our home too. Our home, here with Namjoon-hyung and Jin-hyung. Then there will be a piano, but a big one. Like the one I played for you at the store, remember?"
"I like piano." That was even harder to carry. He clung around Yoongi's neck and looked ahead to where he could hear Namjoon and Tae giggled, curious as always. "Everyone is happy. Should I be happy?" He wasn't sure what he felt, he was very up and down on it. Mostly he just disliked how busy Hobi and Yoongi were and missed them both a lot. Jin was nice but he wasn't Yoongi.
Namjoon came back in, playfully holding Tae upside down as he walked towards Jungkook and Yoongi. "Let's get ready to go out, yeah? I caught this one already."
"You should be happy. Cause no matter what, you'll always be my Jungkookie and we will play piano together, yeah? Only now you also have Jin-hyung to help with cooking and to sing with you and Namjoon-hyung to help us buy books. Lucky Kookie! So many good hyungs. And Tae." Yoongi smiled briefly, wondering how his little Kookie alreads had such big worries on his mind. He nodded at Namjoon, who had to hold a laughing and wiggling Tae. then got up.
"I want my bunny jumper today annnnd I want my blue pants and my new sneakers." Jungkook listed off as he let Yoongi lift him, listing off his wants contently and smiling at Tae, waving a little at him. Not that he noticed much. He was happy that Tae was happy, he loved when his brother smiled.
Namjoon finally lifted Tae upright and set him on the kitchen table, grinning at him. "We're gonna get books. You like books, yeah? Hyung loves books. I spend too much money on them."
"Yes! Books are so cool, Yoongi-hyung says so." And, yes, Namjoon did to and that was convincing, but Tae knew that Namjoon wasn't cool like Yoongi, so that counted for more in this area. "Can I get books too? I need to learn everything."
Yoongi carried him into the bedroom and set him, down, but only so he could start handing Jungkook the clothes he demanded. "That bunny jumper is the cutest." It was all snuggly! Yoongi had to hug him close again just because of that. "Are you happy, Kookie?"
"You can, yeah. You can get three. Three books. We can look together, yeah? Find some cool alien books or a book about buried treasure." Namjoon suggested as he booped Tae's nose, deciding that he could wait around for Yoongi and Kookie, however long it took them. They seemed in a chill 'just us two' mood today. Namjoon didn't want to ruin the peace. "Anything else you want while we're going out?"
Jungkook eagerly pulled his jumper over his head, got stuck three times and even when he found the head hole, his arm was tangled in the fabric but he was determined to do it. By the time he got hugs, he had one and almost the other arm into his jumper. "Uh-huh. You're happy now." He smiled at Yoongi, reaching out to hold onto his shirt. "You were sad before so you didn't smile a lot but now you smile a lot, a lot."
"THREE!" Tae exclaimed it full of wonder and excitement, eagerly hugging Namjoon. "I get three books!" He knew Namjoon already knew, but he just wanted to let him know again anyway. "I can do so much research with them."
"Yeah? I guess I do. I'm happy, because now I have to worry less, because some of the things that make me worry, the hyungs can take care of it. Like where we'll get food and how we'll stay warm." So many things constantly on his mind. Yoongi wasn't used to letting go of those responsibilities, but very slowly, bit by bit, he did it. "And I like having a keyboard. Means I can do a lot of music."
"Three, yeah." Ow, his ears. He lifted Tae up and set him down, hurrying over to the door and helping him get his coat on. Or Jimin's coat on. He wasn't sure, they two boys traded all their clothes. The benefits of being the same size and age, he guessed. "Okay, can you put on your shoes by yourself or do you need help?"
Jungkook helped Yoongi get his socks on, nodding in approval and tweaking them clumsily with his fingers. "Like when Jiminie got hurty in his chest and Jin came in and made it better?" It was weird. One of them was crying and hurt and yeah, they were all up but Yoongi got to sit with them and watch as Jin and Namjoon handled it, not handling it himself. He looked at Yoongi for a while, squinting at him curiously. "Are you an... an adult or are you a boy?"
"I can do it, hyung! Watch." Tae put on his shoes and, since they weren't one to tie, he closed them up neatly and then grinned up at Namjoon, very proud of his accomplishment. "Jungkook is asking big questions." Tae knew, he knew Kookie's moods.
"Yeah. Jin-hyung is a doctor, only a few and very smart people can be that, not even other hyungs like Namjoon." Not that Namjoon couldn't do things, but he couldn't be a doctor. He looked at Jungkook, frowning and trying to figure out how to answer that. "I'm a boy. I just have to try hard to be like an adult sometimes. But now I have to do it a bit less."
"Really? -- He's three... what kind of big questions does he have?" Sometimes he wondered about Jungkook, the boy could be every bit a whiny and sulky toddler one day and then the next, he was asking serious questions or telling Jin to be 'zero waste' - he had no idea where that came from but it was pretty funny.
"If you're a boy, you have more time to play and hug me." Jungkook held his arms out, waiting to be held and carried, pretty happy with what he'd been told. "I missed you." He was never gone but sometimes, he was busy.
"I dunno." Tae shrugged his shoulders. "About happiness and if Yoongi is an adult or a boy." From what he gathered having listened to Kookie a little, anyway. Also, Kookie tended to ask all kinds of question. He could relate, he was just usually less serious about it.
"Yeah? I think so." Yoongi lifted Jungkook up and hugged him close before carrying him outside, lowering his voice. "I missed you a lot too. My Kookie. We will have quiet book time when we are back." Sounded like a good idea to him. "We'll find you a good duckie book. Right, Namjoon-hyung?"
"Oh yeah. A duckie book and an alien book. It's going to be a great day." Namjoon smiled and waited patiently for Kookie's shoes to be on before ushering his boys out of the apartment and downstairs. As much as he hated to break up Yoongi and Jungkook, the kid needed to be in his booster seat. "Yoongi, you can ride shotgun, yeah? And Kookie can sit in the back with TaeTae."
Jungkook sighed but accepted his lot in life. "Okay." As long as he got cuddles again soon.
"I can cuddle too! I'm good at it." Tae tried to prove to Kookie that he might be a downgrade from Yoongi right now, but he was still a good hyung, so once Yoongi had helped strap Jungkook in properly, Tae wrapped his arms around him. "You are getting a duckie book? So cool."
Sure, duckies could be cool. Yoongi rolled his eyes, but smiled, putting on his seat belt and then reaching out to change the music. "Can I pick something?"
He already had the player in his hand and cycled through the option, picking a song they all knew, which meant that Tae felt obligated to sing along, whether he entirely knew the lyrics or not.
He only paused to be demanding. "Suga-hyung, you have to do the rap parts!"
"They live in a pond." Jungkook informed Tae, very proud of his knowledge. He was always eager to learn, to read, to understand because deep down, he just really wanted to help. If he was a big boy and he understood things then he could help Yoongi when he was all stressed and unhappy. "Quack."
Namjoon nodded and started up the car, proud that he had learned how to drive and hadn't fucked up once yet. It seemed his curse didn't extend to his car. Which made him feel way better about his two boys in the back.
Tae sang whatever the fuck he wanted and Namjoon laughed, reaching out to playfully shove Yoongi. "Yeah, Suga, let's hear some rap. Think you can keep up with Tae's beautiful lyrics."
"Kookie, you need to sing too!" Tae showed how, even though he had kinda lose the actual lyrics entirely at that point and just kind of petered out with a lot of 'lalala', while the song entered the bridge. Yoongi snorted, but he also lowered his head, actually trying to remember the lyrics properly so that he could join in at the rap part.
Which he did, he wasn't that shy about showing off his rapping.
Tae lost it entirely, being a little too hyped and ultimately just hugging Jungkook and yelling. Well, they knew how to enthuse about their hyungs performing.
Jungkook clapped his hands and giggled a little, always happy to hear his hyungs rap. When he grew up, he wanted to be able to rap - he wanted to be like Yoongi! So cool and badass. So strong. He could be just like him if he kept trying.
"Dope. You're damn fast, Yoongi. I vastly prefer you rapping here than at clubs though." Especially since he found out about where they went and who they associated with - the drugs and that Cheon guy? Nope. He did not want to deal with that. Ten was a horror story and he didn't want that for his boys.
Namjoon smiled as he pulled up into the parking lot, looking around for spaces. "Yell out when you see a spot, this carpark is a nightmare."
"I can go faster... but with my own stuff. Sometimes." Yoongi shrugged his shoulders, grinning for just a moment. "Sure, but here it doesn't pay." He was just kidding. Well, it was true, but he had no intention of going to the club again, not with Ten finally staying away from there. Staying with them. Once he was out of the hospital, anyway. It was all so fragile. "We will give you a performance some time."
Hobi would love that too. He loved performing. Dancing. So did Ten, for that matter. They could put a pretty decent act together.
Tae yelled loudly. He didn't see a parking spot, he just wanted to yell.
And Yoongi looked around, finally pointing and speaking at a normal volume. "There is a spot."
"Tae, you made me jump!" Namjoon whined as he rolled his eyes, zeroing in on the spot Yoongi suggested. "I think you should. I'd love to see it. I know you guys are great, I've heard your music from the bedroom before. It's really good. Solid lyrics. I'd love to see a proper performance. When Ten is out of the hospital, definitely."
The kid would need another focus from the drug thing and besides, it'd be fun. Maybe he could encourage them all to consider some kind of performing arts school.
As they parked, Jungkook looked out of the window and then pointed at the car next to them. "Blue car. It's -- oh." He knew cars, he liked to watch them from the window. "Tae! Tae! Look, it's a jag!"
"... Aww, no, really?" Fuck. He hated parking by fancy cars. "For the love of God, no one hit their door into it."
"It's a jag!" Tae was excited as well, nodding. "You are so smart, Kookie!" He knew so much about cars, Tae was very proud of him.
"We'll be careful, hyung," Yoongi assured Namjoon, indeed careful as he got out and then opening the door to the back just as carefully, bending down to undo the seat belt for Jungkook and lift him out. "Do you like that car? It's cool, right?"
"Gangsters drive jags," Tae informed Namjoon as he reached for his hand, very wise in his young age.
"Yeah, which is why we don't ding it." Namjoon shut the door and held Tae's hand, eyeing up the car cautious and then pausing, flickering his eyes over the license plate. Was he crazy or did he knew this car? He was probably overthinking it. "Okay, everyone ready? Everyone got everything from the car?"
As Namjoon locked up, Jungkook tried to reach out and touch the jag as they walked by. "Jaguars are cool, hyung but I think porsche are cooler."
"Fancy car is nice and all but you gotta think about the environment. Sports cars just exist to make a mess. They're as bad as SUVs." Namjoon complained, clearly having his own set of ideas about cars. "Electric cars are cooler."
"They are also more expensive because they are imported. Hyundai is a cool brand too and you can get it cheaper." Yoongi glanced at the car and then just hurried so he could keep up with Namjoon and his endlessly long legs.
"The envoment is very important," Tae agreed, "Or else there will be dark smoke everywhere and then you can't see the stars and the moon ever and I like seeing them." Well, he had his reasons to care about the future of the planet.
