Your sister has two sons, one is ten - Yoongi - and one is five - Kangwoo. Currently they are both in hospital after child protective services had to step in and remove them from your father's house. Your father and sister are now both in police custody.
I hope they get jail time, they probably deserve it. I'd check the house, I know my sister had a bit of a drug issue when she had Yoongi. I doubt it got better but it wasn't ... I couldn't be involved, I hope you understand. They called the police on me before so.
I understand, family situations like these are always very difficult.
They would go into care. The problem is that it is unlikely that anyone of Yoongi's age would be adopted and given the trauma involved, I honestly doubt either of them will be. They would have to be separated, with how far apart they are in age.
I don't think that they should be separated. There is another option, if a family member was willing to take them both.
They are sweet boys. Very loving with each other. Yoongi is a good hyung to Kangwoo.
Well, I mean, that's nice and I feel for them but I'm not parenting material.
I have a criminal record... for dealing pot and petty theft but you get the picture. I used to steal and resell ramen as a business. It was a whole THING. And currently, I take pictures of idols for a living and they are just all over my home all the time. Especially GD.
That's not a flex... just trying to show you how unstable it is here.
To raise a kid, you have to be an adult. I'm not an adult. I'm a loser.
...well, at least it sounds as if you make money. Are you currently on drugs? Have you ever hit a child?
There is a low bar here.
At the very least you should visit them in hospital. They don't have anyone. They don't think they have anyone but each other and they don't trust adults. Any positive experience would be an improvement.
"Hey, you must be the social worker? I'm Choi Gyungho." Gyungho approached the man waiting outside and bowed to him, pretty sure it was him based off the research he'd done into the organisation last night. Wei Wuxian had given him contact information and there was a picture of him online, all of his credentials and his colleagues. It was overwhelming to read everything and put it into a context of his life and his nephews. What a strange experience this was going to be.
Gyungho was a very well put together and dapper man, nothing like his sister or his father who were fairly rough around the edges. He was well dressed, well groomed and with model level good looks. He really didn't look like he belonged to that family these days. Likely a breath of fresh air after his sister and father.
Though he wasn't a very open, welcoming sort of man. He was polite but closed off, making it hard to read how he felt about being here. He kept distance and watched the social worker curiously. "How do we do this?"
"Yes, I'm Wei Wuxian." And he smiled, not surprised by how Gyungho looked. He had researched him since then, which had taken him down some interesting avenues, from his art to the many rumours about his dating life, really got him into some gay forums' speculation as well as some pretty spicy fanfic. He was wondering a little, given everything he knew, as as he apparently lived with a male idol. And not just any idol either, before him stood a man who lived with what might well be the most famous guy in Korea.
Kind of strange. Given that, while good-looking, he did look almost normal. Wei Wuxian wasn't sure what he'd expected, honestly, maybe photographers just following? Not that he was complaining. "I'm Wei Wuxian. It's nice to meet you."
He did look as if he had things together, there was that at least. "We can just head right to their room. I was with them before, so they know to expect you."
"Sure, sure. I don't really know the kids so I just don't want to scare them, you know? Last time I saw Yoongi, I think he was two years old? Maybe. It's been a long time." Yoongi was born around the time things got really bad between him and his family - it had been almost eight years so Yoongi was ten? So weird. He sighed and followed after Wei Wuxian as he walked inside, hoping he really didn't have to deal with too much today - he hadn't even told Minjun he was coming yet!
Maybe he should have told him but he and Jiho were working overtime on his new album so it seemed trivial to bother him with pointless family drama.
"So Yoongi had surgery on his shoulder?" What on Earth did they do to that kid? "I assume that's going to be an ongoing issue."
"Yes, he has-- Something is torn in his left shoulder, sorry, I forgot the exact terminology." There was a lot on his mind right now. "Apparently he must have been injured quite a while ago, but since he didn't receive any treatment, he just kept using his shoulder. It looked-- It was basically bruised black when I first saw it."
Wei Wuxian made a face, because that was not a pleasant memory. He couldn't even imagine what it must have been like for a child to suffer such continuous agony. "Both of them are malnourished, other effects of neglect, so they look a bit... Well, you'll see. And they are small for their age, I guess."
But at least they seemed pretty content when they had each other, so there was that. "The doctors predict that he'll need physical therapy and, depending on how it heals, likely more surgery in a few months."
"Well, shit. That does suck, doesn't it?" What else did he say? It hurt to know that this was happening but he couldn't have prevented it. Last time he tried to go home, his dad threatened him with being arrested for trespassing. Maybe he could have done more but it was honestly out of his hands. "And the other kid is Kangwoo? I never met that one, I really thought she wouldn't have another child. I assume it wouldn't have been the same father."
Then again, what did he know? His sister was a bit of a mess since she lost him and eomma. He felt guilty but she really could have done more to protect her kids.
"If they stay in a group home or something, Yoongi could still get treated. Might be for the best, you know? I assume professionals know how to handle that kind of thing." Professionals who weren't idiot losers with porn all over their house.
"Honestly, we don't know. They do look alike and neither of them know any father other than their grandfather, there is nothing conclusive on their birth certificates either, so it'd need a test to figure out if they share a father." Which wasn't really a priority right now. "I'll be honest with you. If they stay in a group home, of course the people there will try to help Yoongi, but these places get very busy. Yoongi is a quiet kid, from what I can tell, shy perhaps? And he doesn't complain. It can be tough to stay on top of exercise routine, so experience has taught me that these things tend to slip through the cracks. I'm not sure what would happen."
There was a reason why he was hoping that they would be taken in by Gyungho. Well. Many a reason. Wei Wuxian stopped by the door, turning to Gyungho. "Kangwoo is-- He's cute, honestly, but he doesn't connect with the world much, unless it is through Yoongi. He may not even react to you, but don't take that personally. They've been through a lot. And Yoongi-- He's shy, as I've said. He's kind of funny a lot, honestly, he's made me laugh. And he doesn't think of himself as a child, so just don't talk down to him. Children are smart about these things."
"I think if he's that smart, he'll know what sort of man I am the first moment he meets me so brace yourself. I know you're hoping this might work out still but like I said - I'm a loser." Gyungho just didn't want this guy to get his hopes up when it might be a bit doomed at this point. There was something about being responsible for someone that instant made him want to retreat and hide, he didn't know why he was so afraid to get involved with people but he just always had been. It was tough.
As they came close to the room, Gyungho checked his phone and sent a quick love heart to Minjun because he needed to feel loved right now. This was a lot. He looked up at Wei Wuxian and nodded his head. "Let's try this, shall we? And hey, if it crashes and burns, I'll support them either way financially so don't ever worry about that. I'll be there for them from afar."
"That's also a lot," Wei Wuxian assured him, giving a thumbs up before he walked into the room, leaving the door open for Gyungho to follow. "Hey, how are you doing? Wow, Kangwoo, you've coloured so much more since I left!"
He admired the boy's progress loudly and reached out to gently pet his head, under the watchful eye of Yoongi, who looked guarded and suspicious more than anything. Kangwoo was sitting in Yoongi's bed, colouring in, and Yoongi was upright, his left arm in a sling to keep his shoulder still, leaning against his pillow and keeping one hand on Kangwoo's arm, as if he was scared to lose the contact.
"Yoongi, this is your uncle. Choi Gyungho-ssi." Wei Wuxian gestured at him and Yoongi bent his head a little, not able to properly bow. "He wanted to visit to see how you were doing."
"Yo!" Minjun called out when he heard the door close, but he didn't bother moving. He was lying on the floor of the living room, his legs on the sofa, and he looked up at the ceiling as he contemplated things and, mostly, as he tried to get his head out of work space. It was not going well.
"Come here, hottie, I want to look at your ass." Well, he had a feeling that would help take his mind off things.
"Of course you do, you objectify--er. Men are all the same."
Rolling his eyes, Gyungho danced into the room in his own unique way and spun around with his back to Minjun, wanting to give him a high before he hit him with the low. The low that was 'oh my God, our life is about to get wild' or, at least, his life was. "Did you finish work? Sangwoo called me today so I assume it was a bit of a crazy day." Last few days of album prep and all.
"Yeah, just... I don't know, some idiot rearranged something and-- Honestly, idiot might have been tired me, but yelling at myself isn't all that satisfying." Not that he'd really yelled at anyone, he had way scarier ways of getting to everyone. "But it's good. Sounds all right. I think we're ready for comeback now." More or less. He might still have to freak out a time or two more, but hey.
For now he got to look at his boyfriend being silly and sexy from down here, he liked that. He stretched out his arms to reach for him. "I missed you. I'll be less busy soon."
Comparatively. He was always busy, really. He couldn't live any other way.
Ah shit, he couldn't delay this, could he? Minjun wanted a break, he wanted freedom, less busy and God, he was going to make a mess of his life. He was so stressed, he could barely cope. The whole ride home, when he wasn't looking at stupid mental health services for kids, he was buying expensive chairs online to try and distract himself.
"Uh, damn, look... I have to tell you something."
He sucked in a breath and looked down at Minjun, looking every bit as tired and scared as he was to tell Minjun this. "Something bad happened and ... shit, I'm really sorry. I may have fucked up."
Minjun frowned, immediately getting his feet off the sofa and spinning around, looking up at Gyungho. "What?"
The problem was, with Gyungho? Who knew? Sometimes he freaked out over nothing. Sometimes it was something big. He had trouble predicting it right now. "You cheat on me or something? Are you going straight again?"
He laughed a little, trying to make light of it. And hoping that he was wrong.
"I didn't cheat and fuck you." With a sigh, Gyungho came over and sat on the floor in front of Minjun, rubbing at his eyes because they were burning like crazy - he didn't sleep last night, too anxious. "My sister and my father, they were -- there was an incident at their house. They were both arrested. My sister was not only doing more drugs than one person should but making it too. Her and dad. And he -- he was being a piece of shit as always."
God, why did his family have to be trash? He liked Minjun's way more. His mom was sweet, his father was awkward and his sister was a troll. Way more fun than his mess.
"My sister had two kids. Ten and five. They were pretty fucked up... real bad abuse. Like insanely bad. I can't-- I can't believe him. Same old shit. Like I told you before, he's a dick." Why the hell was he still doing this shit to kids? "I got a message from social services..."
Minjun nodded, not sure what to say. He knew - for obvious reasons - what a touchy area Gyungho's family was. He knew enough about it all, from years of being with him. Reaching out, he took Gyungho's hand in his, wanting to offer reassurance but not yet quite sure what to say. "That sounds awful. Poor kids."
They'd be Gyungho's nieces and nephews, huh? Little kids like that. "I'm sorry. What was the message?"
"They want me to take care of them. Which I laughed at. I mean, look at this place, we can't have kids." Gyungho gestured to the dildo artwork they had on the wall - classy yet highly sexual. "But I had to see them, you know? I'm not a bad person. So what I did was that I went to the hospital today while you worked and I met them. Two boys. Yoongi and Kangwoo."
That was a mistake. Still a mistake. He shouldn't have done that, he knew it was a bad idea. "They'll be split up. Kangwoo and Yoongi are too different age groups and the group homes are already pressed for space. They only want to be together and have someone to care about them and --" And he was a sucker who was going to do it. He looked at Minjun and exhaled slowly, his heart racing in his chest. "I think I have to do it."

I'm not involved in family affairs so perhaps reach out to my uncle? I'm not sure if he's still in Korea but he may be of more use.
