"Uh-huh. You smell good. Like a commercial." It made sense to him, since hyung smelled fancy and like a man, like the men in the commercials looked. And Yoongi was melting into that hug more than he even realised, feeling his strong hyung was, but also feeling how he was gentle. He couldn't remember any adult being like that. "You give good hugs, uncle."
He liked them. He didn't want uncle to leave, which was a silly thing to think. He barely knew him! Gyunghow hadn't even left yet, but he was already worried about when he'd come back. "Do you come tomorrow?"
"Yeah, tomorrow." He pulled back and smiled as he reached out to adjust Yoongi's floppy hair so it wasn't in his eyes. "I'll come by with some GD stuff for you. Maybe we can listen to his new album together, I can take a few hours off work. I have no serious clients until next week anyway."
And of course, he had a lot to sort in the mean time. He had to talk to Minjun, work out how to make this work, kid proof his mansion and God, what was he supposed to do?! He knew nothing about kid care! Maybe he could ask Jin to make him a parenting manual.
"It was fun to see you again, Yoon-ah. It's been too long, yeah? And it was so nice to meet Kang-ah too. He's very tiny still, isn't he?"
"Sometimes, Kang-ah is my baby. Sometimes he's a big boy." It was a delicate balance, but with how scary and uncertain everything was right now, Kangwoo was mostly in baby mode. Yoongi didn't mind. "Thank you for visiting, uncle. I'll wait for you tomorrow."
He was trying not to get his hopes up, but they were already sky-high. He would get GD stuff!
Wei Wuxian shifted, a knowing smile on his face. "I can walk you out, Gyungho-ssi. I need to talk to the boys' nurses anyway."
"See you tomorrow. Make sure to sleep early and be good boys, yeah?"
He smiled at the kids and ruffled Yoongi's hair again. He tried to touch Kangwoo but the boy was not having it so he didn't push. Kangwoo just seemed a lot harder to get close too but he was sure he'd get there in time. As they headed outside, Gyungho sighed and gave Wei Wuxian a look, making sure they were safely away from the room. "I'm such a damn sucker, you dirty cheat. Fuck this, I'm going have kids. I can't have kids!"
But he was gonna so fuck. "My boyfriend is gonna kill me."
"Boyfriend?" Wei Wuxian's face was such a mask of innocence, "I didn't do anything. I just felt it'd be good for you to meet the boys."
And, clearly, it had been a great idea. He was very happy with the results. "Don't worry, you'll be given a lot of assistance and advice. You could start by coming with me to get the medical notes on them both." Wouldn't that be a nice start? "I do assume that at least money shouldn't be an issue? Once you've talked to... whoever."
"Is being gay an issue with adoption because I'm pretty gay and pretty out, in my own way. My partner is not. Well, he is but you'd be surprised what people want to deny. Short of outright saying it, apparently no one will clue in." Well, some did but most people denied it even though Minjun was living with a man and posting rainbows all over the place. "Money won't be an issue if I can convince my boyfriend. If not, it may be a slight issue."
If he got his ass dumped, he was unsure what he was going to do but he'd been through worse with less cash. He'd be fine.
"Let's get the medical notes." Gyungho heaved a tired sigh. "Yoongi is a real sweet kid, he's eager to be loved, I can tell." He just wanted an adult. "Not sure about Kangwoo. Is he ... I guess it's trauma, right?" He was pretty odd. For a five year old. Maybe it was just the horrors of abuse getting to him.
"Honestly, you are their only blood relative living in the country, that alone is really all you need to have them. Obviously the papers will make it official, but it's not as if you have to go through a true application process, so your sexuality doesn't matter." And he had official confirmation of GD being gay and dating this man. Damn, he wished he could spill that information to at least one person who'd care. Maybe he could get Lan Zhan to pretend to care. Or, even better, maybe GD was one of those early celebrity crushes Lan Zhan had had, back when he thought he could never be out. That'd be adorable.
"You'll see when you get their medical notes. Yoongi seems to have social anxiety, in addition to all of his physical and emotional trauma, and they suspect that Kangwoo has autism. He-- He will need a lot of care. He is sweet, but right now Yoongi is the only person he can really let in. That's why I was determined not to let them be separated. Ideally, Kangwoo should be in a specialist kindergarten, later school, one with a small group size and trained teachers. I'll forward you resources."
"Autism... social anxiety..." Well. Shit. He was going to need to do a lot, huh? "Social anxiety kind of runs in the family." Gyungho laughed to himself, giving Wei Wuxian a knowing look. "Hence my meds." He didn't have the social aspect any more but the anxiety was still up and down at times. Mostly with Minjun, it was just so much better - he never felt like he had to worry when he had him. Maybe he could be that sort of rock for Yoongi. Maybe he could help him.
Kangwoo was a bit daunting. Autism. He barely knew anything about it. "A lot of care how? I'm a bit new to this. Is autism like ... will he grow up okay or will he be a bit -- God, you know, will he always be like that." Quiet, barely verbal, not looking at him - would he get better or would he always be a bit strange. "It's gonna be a lot of work, right?" Well. Fuck.
"It's... Honestly, right now it is difficult to say. He has been through a lot. Obviously." It was all a little complicated. "It's hard to say how well he'll adjust. He is not a severe case, I believe, based on how he communicates with Yoongi at times when they are alone, I could observe that. He should learn to function better, but... It'd not be good at him to have to live in group housing. He will need patience and understanding, more than anything."
Which he was hoping Gyungho could give him. "He's a sweet boy. He will always be autistic, but he will learn to live with it quite well, if you help him. My partner is autistic and he does well, he's just got his quirks."
He? Huh. Well. That put him at some ease, just knowing that this guy dated other guys and hell, he was dating someone autistic so it couldn't be that bad. He could function and live a good life, that was all he worried about. "I'll try. I've never done anything like this. I just take pictures and party on the weekends."
It was obviously overwhelming. He ran his fingers through his hair and laughed, shakily and a little freak out but hell, he was this far, he wasn't going back. "I'll find a way to handle it. He and Yoongi will be fine, I'll make sure of it." He had to. He was the uncle. The guardian.
"Send me stuff on autism. And maybe social anxiety in kids? I only know it as an adult."
"I'll send you a lot of resources. And you'll get to talk to some doctors before they are discharged anyway, also about Yoongi's physical therapy. I'm going to recommend a good child psychologist, they will definitely need that." After all they had been through? Even aside from any diagnosis, they'd need help to work through it all. "It will be fine, you'll see. You'll fall into the role faster than you'd think and you're not alone with it. You can reach out to me any time. I've been there."
"You have? Well, I guess social workers know their stuff, huh?"
It was reassuring to have people on his side, even if it was a bit daunting to look at these two kids, all of their issues and problems and somehow have to find a way to keep living his life with him alongside him. It was going to be an awkward talk with Minjun tonight.
"Did you also have to take in your nephews?" He was just wondering how much he's actually been there.
"No, I just-- I took in strangers, mostly." Wei Wuxian rubbed the back of his neck and shrugged, then laughed. "I took in a boy with some learning disabilities, we adopted a baby from a-- Well, a traumatic situation, let's say that. Then we have two boys from cases we worked on, one used to be entirely blind and still has some issues and the other is--"
It was difficult to mention Xue Yang's diagnosis without alerting people, so Wei Wuxian just explained. "Severe trauma and he has issues with empathy. Also he is strangely adorable and my partner can't discipline him."
"... Woah, that's a lot. Did anyone ever tell you that you might be getting too close to your cases?" Gyungho found it kind of entertaining actually. It was like a joke. Learning disabilities, excessive trauma, blindness... it was insane! And oddly commendable. "I'm impressed. I guess if you can handle all of that, I can handle two."
He shrugged and pulled a face, entertained and terrified in equal measures. "Maybe one day our kids can play together."
"Yes, my adoptive mother always tells me that I like playing hero. She also tells me that I'm a curse on her family, so I don't know." Wei Wuxian shrugged. He knew he got too close to his cases, but how could he not? People needed him and they needed help. He was glad he had found these two boys help today. "I'm sure you can handle too. Just let me know how talking to the boyfriend goes. And maybe you can get two autographs off of him..."
"Of course I can. Just text me what you want on them and be here tomorrow. I need you, man. You're my emotional support." Right now, without Minjun here, it was kind of true. He gave Wei Wuxian a punch to the arm - not too hard but firm. "Now come on, let's get some medical notes. I need to be in the know to tell my boyfriend about this tonight."
