"Autism... social anxiety..." Well. Shit. He was going to need to do a lot, huh? "Social anxiety kind of runs in the family." Gyungho laughed to himself, giving Wei Wuxian a knowing look. "Hence my meds." He didn't have the social aspect any more but the anxiety was still up and down at times. Mostly with Minjun, it was just so much better - he never felt like he had to worry when he had him. Maybe he could be that sort of rock for Yoongi. Maybe he could help him.
Kangwoo was a bit daunting. Autism. He barely knew anything about it. "A lot of care how? I'm a bit new to this. Is autism like ... will he grow up okay or will he be a bit -- God, you know, will he always be like that." Quiet, barely verbal, not looking at him - would he get better or would he always be a bit strange. "It's gonna be a lot of work, right?" Well. Fuck.
"It's... Honestly, right now it is difficult to say. He has been through a lot. Obviously." It was all a little complicated. "It's hard to say how well he'll adjust. He is not a severe case, I believe, based on how he communicates with Yoongi at times when they are alone, I could observe that. He should learn to function better, but... It'd not be good at him to have to live in group housing. He will need patience and understanding, more than anything."
Which he was hoping Gyungho could give him. "He's a sweet boy. He will always be autistic, but he will learn to live with it quite well, if you help him. My partner is autistic and he does well, he's just got his quirks."
He? Huh. Well. That put him at some ease, just knowing that this guy dated other guys and hell, he was dating someone autistic so it couldn't be that bad. He could function and live a good life, that was all he worried about. "I'll try. I've never done anything like this. I just take pictures and party on the weekends."
It was obviously overwhelming. He ran his fingers through his hair and laughed, shakily and a little freak out but hell, he was this far, he wasn't going back. "I'll find a way to handle it. He and Yoongi will be fine, I'll make sure of it." He had to. He was the uncle. The guardian.
"Send me stuff on autism. And maybe social anxiety in kids? I only know it as an adult."
"I'll send you a lot of resources. And you'll get to talk to some doctors before they are discharged anyway, also about Yoongi's physical therapy. I'm going to recommend a good child psychologist, they will definitely need that." After all they had been through? Even aside from any diagnosis, they'd need help to work through it all. "It will be fine, you'll see. You'll fall into the role faster than you'd think and you're not alone with it. You can reach out to me any time. I've been there."
"You have? Well, I guess social workers know their stuff, huh?"
It was reassuring to have people on his side, even if it was a bit daunting to look at these two kids, all of their issues and problems and somehow have to find a way to keep living his life with him alongside him. It was going to be an awkward talk with Minjun tonight.
"Did you also have to take in your nephews?" He was just wondering how much he's actually been there.
"No, I just-- I took in strangers, mostly." Wei Wuxian rubbed the back of his neck and shrugged, then laughed. "I took in a boy with some learning disabilities, we adopted a baby from a-- Well, a traumatic situation, let's say that. Then we have two boys from cases we worked on, one used to be entirely blind and still has some issues and the other is--"
It was difficult to mention Xue Yang's diagnosis without alerting people, so Wei Wuxian just explained. "Severe trauma and he has issues with empathy. Also he is strangely adorable and my partner can't discipline him."
"... Woah, that's a lot. Did anyone ever tell you that you might be getting too close to your cases?" Gyungho found it kind of entertaining actually. It was like a joke. Learning disabilities, excessive trauma, blindness... it was insane! And oddly commendable. "I'm impressed. I guess if you can handle all of that, I can handle two."
He shrugged and pulled a face, entertained and terrified in equal measures. "Maybe one day our kids can play together."
"Yes, my adoptive mother always tells me that I like playing hero. She also tells me that I'm a curse on her family, so I don't know." Wei Wuxian shrugged. He knew he got too close to his cases, but how could he not? People needed him and they needed help. He was glad he had found these two boys help today. "I'm sure you can handle too. Just let me know how talking to the boyfriend goes. And maybe you can get two autographs off of him..."
"Of course I can. Just text me what you want on them and be here tomorrow. I need you, man. You're my emotional support." Right now, without Minjun here, it was kind of true. He gave Wei Wuxian a punch to the arm - not too hard but firm. "Now come on, let's get some medical notes. I need to be in the know to tell my boyfriend about this tonight."
