"So, what? He just said thighs, went red and ran off?" That sounded hilarious. Yoongi already liked the sound of Jungkook, he seemed adorable. Of course, most of the young ones were some kind of mix between adorable and annoying. Sometimes that included Namjoon.
"Let's see your thighs." Yoongi sat up enough to be able to look over the edge of the bed, gesturing vaguely with his hand. "I see."
He considered, then shrugged. "Not sure it'd make me run away."
"I'm sure he just needs time to grow and come into his own but... I mean, he's so shy that I have to wonder." He was just kind of hoping the kid could find some ability to talk to them without going red. "He locked himself in his room for thirty minutes cause I said hi to him at breakfast." Admittedly, Namjoon had yelled it very loud and very excited but he was in a good mood.
Having a band meant a proper dorm. And a proper dorm meant people who could cook for him!
"I like Jin-hyung a lot already." He laughed and looked at Yoongi, grinning. "Dunno what to make of the others."
"I'll see if I can talk to him. I used to be like that." Well. Maybe. Kind of. Sort of. "Less about thighs." Abs, maybe, but he didn't have to tell Namjoon that. "Jin-hyung's cool though. Cooking's a huge plus."
Because Yoongi certainly had no interest in cooking for a bunch of boys, so the best strategy was not letting anyone know that he could cook. This was where his genius truly came in. "Hobi's getting better too. Love his flow." Seemed to come as natural to him as dancing.
"Seems to be adjusting better too. I really thought he'd quit, it took ages to talk him around. I really hope he stays, I think his flow is amazing. We're going to work so well together." It wasn't just that Hobi was good at dancing and coming along with his rap, he was also really good at producing in his own way. He often sat with Namjoon, talked it out, pulled all nighters.
They needed people like Hobi. "I have no idea what I think of Taehyung-ah. He's so ... is it weird to call him adorable?" Cause he was. Entirely adorable. "And way too talented for this place. No wonder they're hiding him."
"I've no idea what to make of him either. But cute, yeah. Never seen someone that weird in real life. You now he got asked to audition, he was really just accompanying a friend?" Not that Yoongi could blame the people, Taehyung definitely had the looks and, as it turned out, clearly also a very unique voice. "They are so scared someone's gonna steal Tae from them."
He laughed, shaking his head. "You ever feel bad that no one's hiding us away?" Hey, he was just saying. "I told them that Jimin has to sing."
"This is so nice of you, hyung." Jimin said for like the millionth time, happily helping Yoongi with his little gifts. Tae and Jungkook had slipped out for 'snacks' and not come back but Jimin was there, happy and determined to get all of their fans a nice gift made by hand. Yoongi was such hero! To do all of this for their fans.
"Army will love you." Beaming, Jimin turned to Yoongi and set aside the present he was making. "What gave you the idea?"
"I'm not like you," Yoongi said as if that would explain it all, focusing on what he was writing, his tongue peeking out a little at the corner of his lips. Finally he shrugged, the only thing signifying that he wasn't quite ready yet. "They think I don't care. I'm not very good at showing it."
Honestly, sometimes he even wondered whether he was good enough at showing it to Jimin specifically, it was hard to tell where the line between Jimin's needy teasing and actual need was.
"I think they know it. I think people who know you, they get it." Like Jimin, he knew how soft Yoongi was deep down, under everything. He was such a nice guy, even if sometimes he was grumpy and aloof. "And if they don't, they will now. This is such a nice gesture... can you even afford it?" He knew he wasn't supposed to ask his hyung that but they didn't even see any profit from their albums yet, they were still living on a relatively low wage.
"If you need any help with anything, you can always ask. I love helping!" He grinned at Yoongi, happy and excited. "Especially you."
"Especially me, huh?" Yoongi smiled, shaking his head as he reached for the next card. Cute. Jimin was such a ray of sunshine in his way, as temperamental as he could be. He finished the current line and drew a little heart, then actually turned to look at Jimin. "You could post them."
Wait, he had to clarify that. "I'll give you my card and pin number. But then I've got more time." He still had lots of work to do.
"Of course I will. I could pay, if I wanted to. It's my money." And to know what happiness it would bring ARMY and Yoongi, that was worth every penny. He hummed happily as he put the next card in the envelope, licked it and then started to tie the string around the card and the chocolates attached. They were such cute little packages. He almost wishes he got one of his own, it was like a big hug from Min Yoongi.
And he didn't get those often enough. "You care so much, hyung. I really admire it. I always admire you but... your heart is so good."
"Huh?" Yoongi blinked when he noticed Jimin sitting by the kitchen table. Usually when he went to the kitchen at this time of night, no one else was here. Probably because the hours between three and four am were sleeping time and not working and eventually dinner time, as it was for Yoongi, who tended to work through the night. "What are you doing here, can't sleep?"
It wasn't as if he minded Jimin being here, he just hadn't expected it.
"Ah... hyung, hey." Jimin smiled, trying to look happier than he was. He was just here, half asleep, torturing himself. He'd been dancing all night, practising as hard as he could and all he'd managed to talk himself into eating was melon and cucumber. His diet was brutal, it was hard but it was worth it. He had lost a lot of weight... even if he was starving.
He stared at the fridge, almost longingly, his body physically and mentally exhausted. "I was practising and now I'm kinda awake still. It's been a long day."
"Ah. I'm gonna make dinner." Yoongi glanced at the clock and shrugged. "Breakfast?" Somewhere in-between, he supposed. With a shrug he headed to the fridge and started looking through it, wondering what he was in the mood for. "You can have some."
He didn't think much of the offer, he wasn't even looking at Jimin. They didn't get to spend much time together currently outside of training and all their activities, Yoongi focused on producing and Jimin focusing on... Whatever it was. He felt guilt realising that he hadn't really been keeping up much with his friend. "We should both be asleep, huh?"
"You can cook?" He had no idea. He idly wondered if he was good or if he was Tae level cooking cause Tae sucked and yet he still offered to cook sometimes. It was odd, he'd never even seen Yoongi cook before. He shuffled his chair along a little so he could watch. "I'm on a diet, hyung, so I really can't." He was going to look good for the come back! Then he wouldn't keep ending up seventh on the attractive ranking.
"Oh yeah, definitely but ... I napped once or twice through the day, I'm not too bad." He rubbed at his eyes and yawned a little, sleepy but still with it enough to function. And that was all he needed. "I wanted to get the new routine for Blood, Sweat and Tears down so I didn't make any mistakes. And I'm working on my vocals a lot." Ideally, he wanted no voice cracks this time.
"I think I napped too. I don't know, I'm bad at keeping track of time sometimes." Yoongi finally retrieved what he needed from the fridge and went over to the counter so he could start chopping, revealing a certain routine with it. That was the good thing about late night cooking, he could make it happen quickly these days.
"Anyway, Jimin-ah, if you want your voice not to crack, you need to eat. Keep up your strength. Hyung is going to add honey to it, that's good for your voice. My eomma always said so."
Namjoon was coming at him, he panicked and he didn't even know what to do. He was such a scary guy and with those glasses, how could he even tell how he felt? He yelled his name and Jungkook ran. He knew that was silly but he just did, he couldn't help it. Survival instincts kicked in.
He dived into the nearest room, shut the door, held the handle and counted to three. There were no more yells of his name, no loud Namjoon sounds, no signs of life. He exhaled slowly, relieved to be alone, turning around to--
Yoongi was there. Sitting in a chair, headphones on, and Jungkook had no idea what to do. He froze, went bright side and backed up against the door. Oh no.
Yoongi turned his head, having felt the vibration when the door shut that little bit too hard. He pulled his headphones down so they hung around his neck when he saw Jungkook standing there, nodding his head a bit. Looked like a scared bunny, honestly, but he had a feeling that pointing that out might be a bad idea.
"Sit down." Maybe not giving him a choice was a better move for now. "You all right?"
Jungkook moved forward, his body felt heavy and his anxiety was high. He nodded his head as he sat down, far from Yoongi, looking down at his shoes and hoping he could get back up soon. "I'm okay." He kept his voice low and quiet, wanting to avoid pissing anyone off. He wanted to be in BTS, he wanted no one to hate him and, most of all, he wanted to avoid getting into any fights. His eomma and appa told him to be a good boy and make friends. And he would! Even if it killed him.
And it very well might. "Sorry. I-- I took the wrong exit."
"From the hallway?" Yoongi hmmed, lifting one shoulder a little bit. "Pretty sure that's called an entrance." Still, he didn't sound overly critical or even amused. Honestly, he felt a little bad for Jungkook.
"I'm working on some stuff. You know, I'm no genius, so I gotta work hard to get anything good." Not that he didn't readily let people praise him as a genius, he never forgot what actually was important for his success. If that success should ever come. "You are a hard worker too, right? Good."
"I-I want to be." He tried his best all the time, he worked hard and he tried to do what he thought would make him achieve his goals. He just wanted to dance, honestly, but singing was something he'd realised could get him further - that was why he was focusing on that more so. He eyed up what Yoongi was doing, full of questions but really not wanting to bother Yoongi because -- well, he was Yoongi.
He never knew where he stood with Yoongi, it was hard to tell. "What are you working on?" Idiot, he was working on the album. He just had to go and pick a dumb question.
