Yoongi wasn't exactly in a good mood when he returned to Ten, not as if that would make much of a difference. He put out the mattress and the bedding, as promised, since that had been a given either way, but he set the food and drink aside for now, just sitting on the edge of the mattress and waiting for Ten to come out.
He checked his phone just in case, but there was nothing new. Well, some emojis from Hobi, but nothing usefully new and he wasn't sure how to deal with that mess yet anyway.
"Hey." Ten walked in with bare feet and the sweats on, they didn't quite fit him right but they might be nicer to lie around in. He looked over the bed and smiled faintly, glad he got himself a mattress. He dropped down on it almost instantly and then eyed up the food with great excitement.
"I'm so hungry." He reached out and grabbed the bowl, ready to just eat it all.
"Not yet." Yoongi snatched Ten's wrist and pulled his hand back, holding on to him as he turned to actually look at him. "You promised me the location before you get food." The now potentially useless location, but whatever. He could still make use of it for something, even if they didn't go there. Might give them an idea of the scope and potential partnerships. He looked at Ten, thought about what he'd look like if he went for pain.
It wouldn't be hard, he was soft. He just didn't think it was a good long-term strategy.
Ten sighed and set the food down. He knew he made a deal, he'd stick with it. "Okay, you have to listen very carefully because it's complicated. It's the shipping district in my father's territory. By the pier? Do you know that one? The number of the shipping crate is, uh, 78. That's not the one you want. Because that holds a safe and in the safe is the key. Once you get the key, you go to shipping crate 101 and that's where he keeps the coke."
He frowned and looked down at his food. "I don't know the safe combo but if I know Cheon's father as well as I do, it'd be his wife's birthday or his lucky numbers for the betting tables. I dunno what kind of safe it is. I never went there. I just heard Cheon yelling it at his underling."
Yoongi let go of Ten's wrist and nodded his head, getting his phone out to text the relevant information to Namjoon, even if Namjoon was most likely going to ignore him at the moment. Whatever, he just had to write it down before he forgot about it and it was faster to text and send it right away. Then he let Ten get the food, gesturing to him to take it.
"This won't last much longer. One way or another. If that makes you feel better." Yoongi wasn't actually sure how he felt about it himself. Things were about to change forever, once more.
"What? You mean I won't get to stay in this damp, smelly basement forever." Ten rolled his eyes and picked up his chopsticks. He didn't exactly love this situation. He didn't know what outcome he wanted but he didn't like to think about it. There was a very real chance he was going to die but to think about it made him want to cry. He would just have to beg for father and Cheon is Yoongi failed. And if Yoongi won... he didn't even know.
"Would you ever let me go or will you kill me?" He put more rice into his mouth and chewed thoughtfully. "I know you said we could be partners but ... I dunno. People lie." He lied all the time.
"I haven't made promises, because I don't know how things will go. It's a gamble. I know what I'm doing, but that doesn't mean it will pay off." He was certainly hoping, but it was far from a sure bet. "My thought is that having you with me would sway some people reluctant to fall in line. In whatever capacity. You aren't part of the business, which helps. It would be symbolic more than anything. I don't really know yet."
It was the kind of thing that he'd like to discuss with Namjoon, but he didn't know if that would go well.
"So I could be out with you or I could just be a captive puppet you bring out to win people over?" He wished he could just go back to how it was. It was less uncertain, he was less scared. He wanted to play with Yoongi, to flirt and have fun but how did he? He knew death was looming over him. "I really don't want to die."
He just thought he should get that out there. "I'm scared of dying." He thought it'd be nothing. Empty. Horrible. He didn't like the idea. He ate a little more rice and swallowed hard. "If you do ever kill me, please don't tell me before. Let it be a surprise."
"There's worse things than death, I guess. Sometimes I feel like it'd be easier. But don't worry. I won't die." He had to stay alive, for the sake of Jungkook, for the sake of everyone he felt responsible for. No easy way out for him. But of course, death would be a more frightening concept for Ten. He nodded at his request, feeling a little bad that this was what was on his mind right now. Not that he could blame him.
"If we both survive, I'll take you out on a date some time."
"Like being tied up with a hood on forever and ever?" Ten was thinking a lot about that lately. People who suffered that. There was no sense of time, nothing grounding, it was so scary. Maybe that was what death felt like. He didn't like to think about it. "There are worse ways to live, I guess but I'm still afraid to be dead."
He smiled faintly and moved closer to Yoongi, their legs brushing together. "I would like that. I know a lot of people here wouldn't but... I like you."
"M-hm. Give that a few weeks of freedom when you're not reliant on me as your only company and I'm sure you'll change your mind." Yoongi had no delusions there. He might be using the psychological effect, but that also meant that he was very aware of it. "I'm not very likeable."
And he highly doubted that he was going to become more likeable, now that things were being set into motion.
"Aww, you think you've been likeable this far? I know you're being nice, which is funny cause Hobi called you the 'bad cop' but ... I don't think you are. You're not likeable all the time but you're good." He smiled at Yoongi, he couldn't say that he'd had the best time with him, he found him quite cruel and unfair in his own ways but he brought him food and he was cute. It was pretty good right now. "I like you in spite of what you did to me. I dunno. You seem to care and I never cared about anything. I like to learn from you. I think you're interesting."
He ate some more rice and then looked down, studying the bowl. "I -- Are you sure you have to kill my dad? Can't I just oust him like Cheon wanted?"
"No, I don't think I'm ever likeable. I just think you like me for lack of options." Yoongi shrugged and looked up at the ceiling. "I could be more of a bad cop, but I'm getting what I want from you this way, so it's working." Obviously not for his friends, but that was something he would have to deal with with them, not something to discuss with Ten. "But you're right, I do care. Glad you think it's interesting."
He looked at Ten from the side, shaking his head. "He killed my father in front of me. I can't compromise on that."
"I could get rid of him. Come on, he's my dad. I never wanted him dead. I could just ... I can give you all of his money and then you send him away." He reached out, gripping on Yoongi's arms and trying to look him in the eyes. "Killing him won't undo what happened. You're just taking my dad from me. Can't you just -- I mean, he won't even rule. Just kill Cheon!"
He was the bad guy here. "Mafia hits aren't personal. Don't make it personal."
"You're right, it's not personal. Killing has stopped being personal to me. I used to see your father's face whenever I killed." Now he didn't feel that drive for revenge anymore, he just knew what had to be done. "I need to establish myself. He all but wiped out my clan. It's not a time for lenience. Leaving you alive would show strength and honour. Leaving him alive would show weakness."
"So there's no way around it? My dad dies?" And he played a hand in it. He felt like such a traitor. He wasn't close with his dad, he didn't have much love for him but his mother had. His people did. They'd always seem him as a traitor. "I don't want to see my dad die. If you do it." He didn't want to see the look of disappointment on his face. "He always said I was a screw up and an idiot. He won't even be surprised I fucked up."
"Nothing you could have done or not done would have changed your father's fate, Ten. He sealed that the day that I got away from him, that has nothing to do with you." Yoongi didn't like thinking back on that day, but of course these days it was on his mind constantly. "You won't have to see it. But it's not on you. You were just needed out of the way, that's all."
"I don't feel great about it." Why would he? He was flirting with his father's future murderer all the time. He dropped his head back and sighed slowly, just looking at Yoongi and studying him for a while. "So you kill my dad and, maybe, Cheon. Take over. Then what?" It didn't seem like a great plan for a guy who wanted to play piano but then, what did he know. "Your men might demand I die. I know they already are." He gestured upward.
"We will see." Yoongi wished things were easier, but that was a childish wish. Things were never easy. Why would they start now? If anything, it was getting harder. Namjoon weighed heavily on his mind and he didn't know how any of this was going to go. "If they start seeing you as an asset to me rather than a danger to us, they'll change their minds."
It should work. It certainly made sense to him. Convincing everyone else, at least here, that might be more of a challenge.
"And how do I do that? I keep telling you things but ... it doesn't seem to make you happy. Or anyone." He didn't think that Yoongi was overly unimpressed but with every bit of information, he seemed sadder and Ten wondered if it was because he was right all along. They'll get everything from him and slowly edge him towards spilling it all. Then he was dead.
He would never leave the basement again. Leaning forward, he impulsively kissed Yoongi. He didn't know why. He was the only person close to him, the man who'd kill him, and he wanted something from him.
"I'm just not a very happy person," Yoongi argued, looking off at nothing and therefore taken off-guard at the kiss. He found himself kissing back, an arm going around Ten and then he thought about the ramifications and he turned his head to the side, breathing out slowly.
"Ten, you can't... I-- It doesn't work like that." He wasn't sure what Ten was hoping for by seducing him, but either way, he couldn't let it happen. "I'll keep you alive as long as it's in my power. You don't have to kiss me for that."
"It's not for that. It's because of that." He was going to die, sooner or later, he knew it was on the cards and this was the last chance he'd get at something even remotely close to love. He never had it from his father or from Cheon, he just wanted to an illusion of it before he died.
He leaned in again, trying to be forceful, trying to get another kiss. He kissed back before, he knew that he wanted it. "Kiss me. Fuck me. Why can't you? Who cares? Who'll know? It's just us!" It wasn't like anyone had to know. "Please."
"You're overestimating my acting ability." Among other things. Yoongi closed his eyes, knowing that he should just leave, but instead he turned his head again, instead he kissed him once more, this time pushing him onto the mattress and leaning over him. No, he wouldn't fuck him, he couldn't, he had to have some self-control here, but they had already kissed, so would another kiss really hurt?
Ten sprawled back on the mattress and his hands went up, linking around the back of Yoongi's neck, trying to keep him there, to push him down and be closer. He kissed him back, eager and needy. He was getting this, he didn't care what he had to do. He didn't care if they thought he was pathetic. He was going to hold on. "Just do it. Please. Fuck me!"
"No, Ten, I can't do that." Under the circumstances, it didn't feel that different from if he had drugged him and that thought alone was enough to keep him grounded, even if he was looking down at him, knowing he was hard and ready, knowing how easy it would be. Anyway, on the practical side of things it wasn't as if he had lube or a condom anyway. "Not now. I can't do this now."
He wanted to, but that was a different matter. Yoongi kissed him again, but pulled back when he realised he was grinding against him. Damn.
