"And then we looked at a video on Ten-hyung's phone! There was a kite, okay, and it flew reeeeeally high. So I thought it was from a movie, but then there was Ten-hyung and Hobi-hyung and it was their kite! And they said we would learn to build kites and then when the weather is right, we will go out and fly the kites aaaaall high!"
Tae bounced, jumping up with one arm outstretched to show how high it would be. "We can decide what colour we want our kite to be and then we can draw on it!"
It was so exciting, he had never done anything like it. "Hyung, hyung, did you know that kites can fly so high? Can you do it? I bet you can."
In his eyes, his hyung could do anything. "Did you do exciting things in school?"
"Yeah, kites are pretty cool." They were okay. Nothing he'd get excited over but TaeTae was a unique kind of kid. He had his own world, his own reasons to get excited and Jiho had come to expect it. He pulled his brother along so he kept pace and didn't run off without him. He didn't want to lose Tae. Not near things like roads.
Jiho knew how dumb kids could be. They had no awareness.
"I did math and then I had to analyse some boring text. It sucked. Pretty much." It was a long day and he hadn't had much fun. He would have rather looked at kites.
"We are gonna learn about aerodynamics." It was a fun word, so even though it was difficult, Ten had repeated it until he knew it. "Lots of things and animals use it! Not just in air, but in water too. Or when you run! Did you know, hyung? Did you know?"
Tae rubbed his face against Jiho's hand, that he was holding on to, so happy and excited. "Is school better for you now, hyung? Cause you get to do a lot of piano, right? That's cool. Is Yoongi-ssi really nice? He looks scary."
"You're so smart, TaeTae. You're gonna be way smarter than hyung soon." Not that it was hard. He felt Tae nuzzling against him, excited and needy for attention. He was sweet in hus own way, he was pretty glad they were going home to an empty house today. Appa had business so he wouldn't be back until late. He would just have to make sure he had Tae in bed before he got back.
"I like doing more piano and I guess it's better, a little bit better, it's really tricky." Namjoon was nice, he was patient but Jiho was so frustrated with himself, he had hit a mental block. He could barely stand reading these days. His brain just stopped. "Yoongi-hyung is ... I dunno. He confuses me sometimes.
"Nuh-uh! I can't be as smart as hyung. Maybe almost as smart, cause I'm almost as big." Tae knew how it all worked. He smiled and then nodded, trying to understand all that Jiho was telling him. "School is really tricky, I think. And sometimes you are better for non-school stuff. Like you are the smartest in the world."
He was convinced. "How does he confuse you, hyung? Is he angry?"
"I don't think I'm the smartest." Though lately he didn't feel like a total idiot. Yeah, he wasn't doing great in class but he was doing pretty well in gym and music, he started getting high marks in some of the sciences too. Mostly when it was practical, not coursework. He was actually pretty excited to go to some classes now.
"I dunno, I don't get it either. He's nice but it's weird sometimes, when people are nice. You know? Maybe you don't... maybe it's a big boy hyung thing." People just never called him a great boy.
Tae was quiet for a while, thinking hard about it. If it was a big boy thing, he had to try to understand it, even if it took a while. After all, his hyung needed him. "I think maybe it's like... At first I didn't like the new juice we got, you know? It tasted all different! But now I want to drink it all the time! You know what I mean?"
He hoped he was making sense. It made sense in his head!
"A little bit, yeah. I just don't think Yoongi is like pineapple juice... or maybe he is." He was mostly just glad that Tae stopped drinking the juice and pulling silly faces every time he did. He now just made yummy noises, which could be super annoying but Tae always had a way of making eating so cute.
As they stopped at the road, Jiho looked both ways and made sure Tae did the same before they crossed. "Tomorrow is Friday so remember what we'll tell appa tomorrow morning? Cause we wanna go play with Jin and Jimin-ah."
"I think it's cause everyone should be nice to you and you deserve it. And you need it! It's healthy. Like the pineapple juice. You'll get used to it. I'll hug you more." Tae nodded with determination, kissing Jiho's hand and then smiling at him with a happy nod, before looking more serious.
"We tell him that we have after school... curry." Something like that.
"Extra curricular. We don't have curry. Don't say that! It sounds like we're eating food, you dork." He pulled his hand away from Tae to playfully push him, laughing at how silly his brother was. He was embarrassed sometimes, still holding his brothers hand, especially when kids from school saw them but he always caved for Tae. Hence why he dropped his hand back down so Tae could hold it again if he wanted.
"You are doing an after school art project for extra credit."
"Okay! Do I have to show appa the art I make?" Cause appa never wanted to see it, but Tae was curious. "I can do an art project." He wasn't sure what a project was exactly, but he was sure he could pull it off. "Hobi-hyung said I could be an artist when I grow up! I can, right? Then it will be all fancy and on walls and I'll tell everyone that you are my inspiration!"
"No cause we're going to see Jin and Jimin but we could maybe do some art on Saturday. We can draw something really beautiful and you can show me... maybe not appa." He didn't trust that bastard near anything Tae created, not since he broke his lego castle into crumbling nothing after three days of hard work.
"I think when you're older, you'll have a difference inspiration. It won't be me." Tae's hero worshipping was cute but Jiho knew it would never last. And he was okay with taht. Sometimes it was so weird.
"Okay! I will make art for you." Tae nodded and skipped along, happy with their plans. Tomorrow would be Jimin's magical place and then art with Jiho? He was so lucky! "Hobi-hyung says love is a good inspiration. And I love you soooo much! But maybe one day I'll love someone else too."
Tae giggled. "So weird. Do you love someone, hyung? Cause you are already big."
"I dunno... I like Jin a lot but I don't know if it's love. He said we're gonna date some day though." And Jiho wanted to. A lot. He blushed when he thought about it. He couldn't help himself. The idea of Jin liking him like that was exciting. He wanted to hold hands and kiss, even if it was icky.
"You can't tell anyone though, TaeTae, not even Jiminie!" Cause they'd never keep their mouths shut. Dumb kids.
"I won't!" Although he might tell Jiminie. Him and Jiminie didn't really have secrets from each other. Apart from appa stuff, of course. He knew he wasn't allowed to tell anyone about that and he never did! He was a good boy, he wanted his hyung to be proud. "But that is cool! Cause Jin-hyung is so cool! He is really pretty too. So you will be soooo cool when you date him! Everyone will think so."
"Jin makes me cool. And happy. He hugged me the other day, it was really nice." Jiho blushed a bright red as he looked down at Tae, smiling bashfully. "But like I said, tell no one. Especially not appa. Same rule as always. When good things happen, we tell no one but each other. Yeah?"
Hopefully they could keep this on the downlow. "Come on, TaeTae, we're almost home. What do you want for dinner?"

Just as he kept the sad secrets.
