Tae was quite easily heard, given he was currently bouncing while trying a lot of hype moves and yelling some barely remembered rap on the hallway as he very excitedly waited for AGUST D to come up the stairs! To! Their! Apartment!
Namjoon was holding Jungkook because he had been quietly making cards and then suddenly Tae was yelling and he was a bit startled, sometimes he just needed to be held to feel better. Namjoon smiled as soon as he saw Yoongi, pulling Tae closer to him and trying to end his crazy hype moves. "Yoongi-hyung! Can you tell that Tae is excited?"
Jungkook was content to stare in awe at Yoongi, focusing on him and not his crazy friend.
Tae's shyness tended to come and go, but he had gone shopping with Yoongi and right now he just looked tired and like he'd have rather not walked up any stairs and a little less like a star or a stranger, so he decided to just fly at him and - apparently - test his reflexes. Yoongi did catch him easily enough, even if he had to balance pizza boxes with his other arm.
"...yeah, I can tell." He ruffled Tae's hair and smiled at Namjoon, then looked over at Jungkook. "Do you like pizza?"
Jungkook nodded and Namjoon moved closer, taking the pizza boxes with his one hand and Jungkook helped steady them - hyung was messy. As Namjoon carried them inside, he left the door open and called over his shoulder. "TaeTae, show Yoongi-hyung our apartment, don't just stand in the hall."
Setting Jungkook down, he set the pizzas on his kitchen table. The apartment was small and dingy, damp had killed a lot of his wallpaper and his furniture had seen better days but Namjoon found it homey. Cute. He pretty much raised Tae here. Jungkook shyly clung onto Namjoon's leg, feeling a bout of shyness himself now. He hadn't prepared himself enough for Agust D to be here!
"OKAY!" Tae struggled with volume control, as often when excited, and he grabbed Yoongi's hand and tugged him along. "That's where I hit my head." Apparently this was going to be a detailed tour. "And this is where hyung measures how tall I am!"
He showed and waited for Yoongi to make an appreciative sound before tugging him further along. "That's where Jiminie and Kookie and I drewed on the wall!"
"You drew really well, huh?" Namjoon must have been very happy about that. Yoongi crouched down to better appreciate the artistry. "What did you draw, Jungkook?"
"D--Doggie." It was half mumbled into Namjoon's pant leg but Namjoon decided to help him along, he felt bad for the boys stagefright.
"Yeah, doggie. They all drew the pets they wanted. There's a doggie, kitty and a hamster." No, Namjoon had not been thrilled and nothing got the pen out so what could he do but learn to live with it. He was more amused than pissed these days. "I left the room for 15 minutes and look at the chaos."
"Chaos." Jungkook agreed, nodding seriously, not grasping what the complaint was even but he liked to learn words and repeat after Namjoon. All the kids did it. Especially Jimin.
"That's a cute doggie too." Yoongi nodded his approval and Tae let go of Yoongi so he could go over to Jungkook and wrap his arms around him, in order to somehow make him feel less shy.
"Bit of chaos is important in life," Yoongi assured Namjoon, getting to his feet again and looking around. "You got a nice place."
"When can we live with you?" Tae was just asking and Yoongi laughed.
"I think Tae disagrees." Namjoon laughed, clearly not offended, sitting down on one of the old, rickety chairs he had in the kitchen that Jin always hated, letting Tae handle Jungkook but keeping an eye on both boys. Jungkook had gone from clinging to Namjoon to clinging to Tae's arm and eyeing up Yoongi with such awe and wanting.
There was no one cooler in the world. No one. Not even Hobi and he was really cool.
"A few years, yeah? Is that the rule?" Yoongi was amused, leaning a hand against the wall and looking at Tae, who was ready to expand on the rules, while petting Jungkook's hair.
"You also need to get a place for Hobi-hyung and Jungkookie and Jin-hyung and Jiminie to live!"
"I get a whole apartment building, huh?"
"'s okay, you are rich." Tae felt it ought to be simple enough.
Yoongi laughed and then looked at Jungkook. "Is it okay if I come over on Christmas? I'll bring a present for you."
"Tae, come on. You're so ... I don't even know. What am I going to do with you?" Namjoon laughed and shook his head, shrugging apologetically at Yoongi. The issue was and always would be that neither him or Tae wanted to move too far from their friends. Jin and Hobi had literally always been there. Jin lived in a place like this when he could afford better just to stay close by and yeah, he had the best apartment in the place but still. They were best friends and so were the kids.
Jungkook frowned at Yoongi and cocked his head to the side, almost assessing his request with an adult level of seriousness.
"You can come over but there are no presents." Jungkook shook his head. "Santa is busy this year, he can't bring presents."
Namjoon's eyes widened and he looked with concern at Tae, hoping the other didn't take that seriously. He actually believed in Santa. Granted, he thought Santa was an alien but still. "Kookie, Santa is coming. He always comes!"
"Nu-uh, mommy said that Santa is busy and he doesn't have time to go shopping." Jungkook nodded firmly. "I know, I got a letter from him. He's sorry but he's very busy."
Damn, Jungkook's mom must have been unable to do Christmas this year. Why didn't she just tell him? He would have helped!
"Santa has a time machine, Kookie! He always has time. Right?" Tae looked at Namjoon, rather disconcerted, but mostly over his little friend's lack of excitement. He knew how Santa worked, he had discussed it with his brother for a long time. Alien with a time machine, that was the gist, although it was of course more complicated.
Yoongi frowned and crouched down, looking at Jungkook. "Santa might be very busy, you're right. But do you want to know a secret?"
He looked around and then lowered his voice, making sure they couldn't be overheard by anyone outside the room. A secret, after all. "When Santa is busy, there are elves who take over for him. And I got an in with some of the elves, you know? They like my music, I got them tickets to a concert last time I was in Russia, we had a great time. So I think I can make sure that they won't be too busy for us."
"Yeah, he has a time machine and besides, he doesn't have to return to the planet Xmas until like April. We're good, Tae." Namjoon assured him, giving him a thumbs up. So their Santa wasn't traditional, big deal. Namjoon preferred this. Together, he and Tae, they crafted a whole lore and universe for their Santa and he loved it so much.
Jungkook listened to every single word with such seriousness, nodding along and trying to fit Yoongi's words in with his mom's. She never mentioned elves. Maybe she didn't know?
Yoongi was so famous and important, he probably knew everyone. Jungkook shuffled closer and bit his lower lip nervously, ruffling his hair. "You think so? They can -- I can get presents? It's okay, I'm a big boy but ..." He really did want presents. "Can Eomma have presents too? And Hobi-hyung? And Tae and Namjoonie-hyung? They have to have them first."
"Yeah, I think there's gonna be presents for everyone. They've all been good, haven't they? I definitely know that you've been a good boy." Yoongi held a hand out for Jungkook to take if he should feel brave enough. "What presents do you think they should get, huh? And what would you want?"
Tae gave Jungkook a tiny push, so he would dare touch Yoongi, but he didn't let go of him entirely either. He didn't want to upset him. "Kookie is always a good boy! I'm not, but I'm cute." So that counted.
"Yeah, cute my ass." Namjoon muttered as he got up to get himself and Yoongi a drink, kind of swooning over how good his boyfriend was with kids and kind of eager to give him a break and something a guest, not a babysitting, would get.
Jungkook stumbled forward and took Yoongi's hand, holding it and playing with his fingers, studying it with great interest. His hand was so big! And it had all kinds of lines along it. "Hobi-hyung wants a break for Christmas." Or, at least, that is what he'd said when tired yesterday and Jungkook had taken it literally. "And for uncle Ten-hyung to stop being silly." He wanted Hobi to have the best Christmas, he always took care of him. "And Namjoon needs fire."
"... You mean heat, Kookie?" Jungkook nodded, his eyes never leaving Yoongi's hand but Namjoon had worked it out. "Well, he's not wrong. I hope Santa brings me heat."
"I want -- I dunno." Jungkook shrugged. All the things he wanted, he didn't want to talk about them with a cool rapper or he'd think he was a baby.
"I'm hoping for a Kumamon doll." Yoongi had indeed told his manager that that was his wish for Christmas, so hey. Here was hoping that would come true. "I'll see about getting Namjoon some fire."
"I want another Stitch doll! And Gucci! I can get Gucci." Well, Tae would also be happy about just about anything else, but still. "And also when we are in Japan, I get to buy presents for everyone." That was the best present.
"Kumamon is cute. I want bunny. Like Tuzki." Jungkook nodded seriously and Namjoon came over, lifting the boy up and bopping his nose.
"Then Santa will bring it. Promise." Even if he had to take out a loan. "Just like Tae will get what he wants... though I don't know what Santa feels about Gucci."
Santa wasn't made of money, after all.
"It's this way, come on." He kicked Tae's butt playfully so he'd follow, lead them all to the kitchen and gesturing at it. "It stopped working... when was it, Tae? Like three days ago? One morning I was showering, it went cold and that's been it."
"Namjoon-hyung isn't allowed to touch them," Tae shared unnecessarily while Yoongi pulled a chair out so he could actually get to the boiler, using the flashlight on his phone to inspect it.
"I'm sure he's allowed to touch them to hand them to me." Maybe. Yoongi glanced at Namjoon, just in case. At least he was no longer wearing any casts.
"Yeah, I can!" Namjoon whined as he sat Jungkook on the counter and crouched down, ducking under the sink to get out the tool box that Jin gifted him. Then later asked for it back because he bashed himself in the face with a wrench. He never did give it back, he wasn't that incompetent. "Which do you need?"
"You're touching, Jin-hyung said no."
"Kookie, I'm just passing them to ... man, you two kids, what the hell? Support me! I'm your hyung. I can touch tools." Huffing, Namjoon looked at Yoongi. "You trust me, right?"
"...sure." Yoongi looked at Jungkook and Tae both watching him with wide and fearful eyes and then his boyfriend, also having a very expectant look on his face. But he liked him uninjured, so maybe he could strike a compromise.
He tried a smile and lifted one hand to show him a little heart with his fingers. "You can just hand me the whole box while I figure out what I'm doing."
