Yoongi looked around, just to be certain, then he rubbed at his phone, frowning when he felt the pain. Good, he had to stay focused. He hadn't fought like this with Hobi in a very long time. "When I met Hobi, he was still really young." Which meant that obviously he was young too, but Yoongi never considered that. He was the hyung. "He... I was almost... Like." Yeah, this was not working.
"So. I met him when I wanted to die. And he was high a lot. I got drunk." Yoongi frowned and glanced up at Namjoon, just to make sure he wasn't angry. "I stopped. I kinda... I had to help him, right? And we did music." It helped, he found, having a goal. "And I forced him to stop with the drugs. He wanted to! Only he didn't want to when it started hurting, so I had to fight him a lot."
"Okay, so you're both giving me nightmares? Wonderful." With a huff, he shook his head, feeling a horrible, unsettling sensation in his chest. Oh boy, this was not good, was it? The way he was talking, the stuff he was saying. He didn't want to think of these boys on drugs and drinking. They were so damn young. Who wanted to die when they were this young?
"Yoongi, hate to rush you but can you tell me what this is about. Focus up."
"It's okay, I don't drink now. I just wanted to feel numb." Yoongi frowned and took a deep breath, wishing this wasn't happening. "Ten... Ten's so good, he's nice, he really tries sometimes, but they got him addicted to the stuff. The perverts. They always do that. They go after boys like Ten."
The pretty boys that liked compliments and just... He hated it. "And him and Hobi, they'll go get drugs again. I tried stopping them, but..." Well, obviously, that was what the fight was about. "They'll hate me for telling you. Please don't arrest them. Please."
"Seriously? God. I'm not going to arrest some tiny boys but I need to find them. You need to tell me where they might go. Where were they heading? Who is their dealer?" He ushered Yoongi along, his heart racing in panic. He turned his head and looked off over at Jackson. "JACKSON! GET YOUR ASS IN THE CAR!"
"I can tell you where they usually go. I don't know who Ten's dealer is, he said he had a new one." Yoongi followed as quickly as he could, holding on to Namjoon, because his knee was hurting a little and he didn't want to stumble. He saw Jackson throw away his yogurt cup and then jump over a desk to catch up to them, headed for the car.
"Where are we going, partner?" He got into the driver's seat, waiting for whatever explanation would come.
"Where Yoongi tells us. Get in the back, son. Don't freak out, I know it's all a lot but we have to keep Hobi safe. Tell Jackson where to go." He let Yoongi talk to Jackson as he pulled out the radio and gave the details of both boys over the radio. If anyone saw then, they could apprehend them. They were hard to pick out, it was difficult to know how to describe them.
"We need to try and find Hobi before he takes a hit. He does this, he's going to be in trouble. He could get sick, he could -- shit, he is so grounded!"
"He's... I told him not to do it! He should've listened to me." Damn it. After this, Hobi was never talking to him again. Not just ratting him out, but Ten too? Yeah, Yoongi knew that it was unforgivable. But he couldn't watch it again, he couldn't let Hobi go through all that again. "I made him stop last time."
And that had been almost impossibly hard, given they had been on the streets at the time. With the kids, no less. "He's good. He's just... I don't know. They always push the drugs and they say it makes everything better. I dunno. I never tried, I just got alcohol."
"Christ." Jason just had to mutter that much. These were barely even teenagers they were talking about here.
"Yeah, don't even start me." Namjoon muttered to Jackson as he sent out more officers. He didn't care right now what Hobi wanted or what Ten wanted, they were in so much danger, he couldn't even consider it. He didn't even care. He was sure Hobi would forgive Yoongi, he was sure he'd understand what an idiot he was - maybe not today but some day.
He couldn't even blame Ten for it. He was just a boy.
"Someone spotted them going left from the gas station near where Yoongi is describing. Take that back road, we might intercept them." God, this was terrifying. He hated being a cop sometimes. "Oh shit, they're too young for this. Hobi is a good boy, why -- fuck."
"He is a good boy," Yoongi insisted, worried about what Namjoon would think of him. Think of Ten, for that matter. They were good for each other ninety percent of the time, until it got like this. He stared out the window, suddenly pointing. "That's them there!"
"Let's get them." Jackson opened the door right away and ran as fast as he could, finally managing to catch up to Hobi, who'd tried to run. He hoped Namjoon could catch the other one. "Hey there. Where do you think you're going, huh?"
"Let go!" Hobi did recognise Jackson. One hell of a coincidence. What the fuck was wrong with Yoongi? "Let me go! I didn't do anything!"
Namjoon took off running as quick as he could and luckily for him, Ten was weak right now, he could barely walk, let alone run for it. He grabbed the boy in no time and held him in his grip. Ten struggled and flailed for all his worth.
"Hobi! Help!" Fuck, no. No, no, no! He needed something, he was dying! He was going to die unless he got back to them, unless he got a hit. He needed to leave. Him and Hobi, they had to leave and get away from all the rules. They had to be together. And now the cops had him and he didn't want to go to jail. He looked over at the car, desperate and afraid. "Yoongi! You rat! You dirty rat!"
Namjoon carried the boy along, giving Hobi a very stern glare. "You're in so much trouble. What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
"I wasn't doing anything! Yoongi-hyung's lying! He's a liar!" Hobi glared at Yoongi, but he didn't try to struggle any more, instead just letting Jackson walk him. He knew he couldn't get away, especially not with Ten, who was so weak right now. Who just needed something and now he couldn't even give him that, all because of Yoongi.
Yoongi shifted over to the other side of the backseat, arms crossed and staring out of the window, pretending that he couldn't hear them.
"He's not a liar. You were going to get drugs. I know Ten is on them, I've seen the marks. I'm not an idiot. Don't you dare lie to me, Hobi." He tried to hold Ten still but the boy wasn't afraid to kick him in the leg and try to punch him, he was a squirmy little bastard. "He's sick and drugs aren't going to help that. You don't know what those men give you. You don't know who has used the needle before. Do you want HIV? To overdose?" Well, apparently Hobi didn't get any point he made unless he linked it to his boyfriend. "Do you want Ten to die?"
"He's lying. I won't die! I'll die if I don't get anything. Please, Hobi, please. Big strong boyfriend. You have to protect me." Ten whimpered as he pulled a hand free and held it out for Hobi. "Help me."
"You're a smart boy, Hobi. Does this really seem right to you? Does it make sense?" Namjoon knew Hobi had to be better than this. "Do you think that helps anyone?"
"He's in pain! I can't let him be in pain!" Hobi wanted to help Ten, but he wasn't sure what the hell he was supposed to do. Jackson had a firm grip on him and all he could do was reach out to Ten's hand and hold it and hate how cold it was. He wanted him to feel better. He didn't want him to die! "I'm careful with needles. I know how to do it."
"...I'll have nightmares tonight." Jackson muttered it and opened the door to the backseat, although he wasn't entirely sure about them riding with Yoongi. Well, he supposed they'd not attack him while they were literally in the car with them. "We should just take them to the clinic. Detox." At least for Ten, from what he could tell.
"We've definitely got to. Look at his eyes." Ten's eyes were blown out, his one eye kept twitching and he was so weak in his arms. He lifted the boy and pretty much carried him to the car. He slid him inside after Hobi and shut the door, making sure to lock the back so they couldn't escape.
Ten immediately curled up against Hobi, shivering and trembling, his skin so clammy. "I'm going to die. I need-- please, Hobi. Please. I need ... I need Cheon." Ten sobbed as he gripped onto Hobi and clamped his eyes shut.
"Is that your dealer?" Namjoon was taking notes already as he nodded at Jackson to go. "You boys are so damn stupid. Hobi, for God sake, why didn't you come to me?"
"Ko Cheon." Had to be, right? Yoongi looked up at Namjoon as he shared that info. "He's a really big creep, he picks young boys and kinda prepares them for when they're old enough."
"How about you shut the fuck up, Yoongi?" Hobi hissed at him, clearly angry and upset and very deliberately not calling him hyung. Yoongi turned his head again and looked outside, while Hobi tended to Ten, holding him close and gently petting his hair. "Shh... I'm here, I got you."
He was focused on Ten right now, Namjoon only registered on the sidelines.
There was no point in talking to Hobi right now, it was a waste of time. "Go straight to the hospital. Ten needs a doctor right away." He had to make sure the boy didn't die so he could prove to Hobi that he could fix these kind of situation. Why did the idiot boy think this was the best way to fix the issue? "I'm going to text Jin that we're coming and hopefully he can help. I-- I don't know what else to do."
He didn't know if he had to go to a special clinic or what but Ten looked like he could keel over any minute.
"Ko Cheon. I'll remember that name. Some gross guy who grooms kids. Lemme guess, he's the one that gave Ten the drugs. Why do you think a guy like that would give you drugs, Ten? What good reason is there?"
"I'm pretty." Ten shot back as he clung to Hobi and nuzzled his head. "Good mouth."
"What the hell even." Jackson narrowed his eyes, turning the corner. "Remind me to call my mom today." Clearly he had to thank her a lot and he couldn't hug her easily across borders, but hey. Maybe he should visit some time soon.
Hobi glared at the reason Ten gave, but he hugged him close anyway. He wanted him to feel better. Drugs could do that, he had lived through that. He didn't want Ten to suffer, he couldn't watch him suffer. "They can help you at the hospital too, Ten. They got drugs, yeah" Something like that, anyway. "I'll be right there. I won't leave you."
"Go to china and hug your mom, you big dumbass." Namjoon told him, looking back so he could look at Hobi. "That's the guy you thought you should take Ten to? Just because he asked? Me and you are going to have a serious talk soon, Hoseok. You need to understand how stupid this decision was. A guy like that isn't going to help your boyfriend." A guy like Namjoon was. And he'd prove it.
"No leaving." Ten gripped onto Hobi's shirt and glared over at Yoongi. "You rat." His eyes welled with tears and he sniffed, not even sure if he was mad at Yoongi or not, he was just hurting. "I want Cheon."
"I don't like Cheon," Hobi did admit that much, even as he held Ten close. He kissed his boyfriend's cheek, still joining him in glaring at Yoongi, who was ignoring them both anyway. "You'll be okay. Jin-hyung makes things better. Like he did with Jimin." He hoped. Maybe he could somehow just... Just make Ten be better. And happy again. He wanted that more than anything. He'd do anything for that. Even buy drugs when he knew he shouldn't.
As they got to the hospital, Namjoon got Jackson to handle Hobi but he assumed he wouldn't go too far. Not since he picked up Ten once they got there, carrying the boy inside and ignoring his protests. He didn't care what they wanted, he cared about keeping them alone. "Hobi! Yoongi! Stay close to hyung."
He hurried ahead to the emergency room and approached the reception. "I got a really sick kid, I need help."
Hobi hurried to keep up with Namjoon's long legs, although he still found the time to shove Yoongi aside when he tried to put an arm around him. He carried grudges quite well and Yoongi wasn't even surprised, he just put his hands into his pockets again and waited with the others by the reception, looking for Jin-hyung.
Of course Hobi knew that it wasn't so easy, but he still felt relief when he saw Jin-hyung walk up to them, as if his appearance alone would somehow make things better. Jin immediately reached for Ten and checked his eyes, feeling his pulse. "We need to get an injection in him, flush out his system. Give him to me, love?"
He had no time for formalities right now and explanations could wait. "Stay here. You too, Hobi."
Hobi nodded, tears in his eyes. "Please help him, hyung! I love him."
"Go, go, go. He's getting worse." Namjoon knew how it was, they were both in work mode. He let Jin take Ten and then turned around, giving word over his radio to tell them that they had apprehended the boys. "I need everything you can find on Ko Cheon. He's been grooming street boys." He turned off his radio and turned around, looking at Hobi with such sadness.
His poor boy. He just wanted to help. He reached out and gently ruffled Yoongi's hair, giving him a smile. "You're a good hyung."
Moving Hobi back and back, he manually sat the boy in a nearby chair and crouched in front of him, making sure he had his attention. "Hobi, I understand why you did what you did. You're in love. You're such a sweet boy but ... the answer is never drugs. It's never going to a man like Cheon. If you have trouble like this, you come to me or Jin hyung. We could have helped Ten. Helped him way sooner."
"He would just run if I did that. He wouldn't want to see me again." Ten had made that pretty clear when Hobi had so much as suggested it. "He... I want him to smile and be happy." Hobi rubbed at his eyes, trying to see where Jin had walked off to, trying to see Ten. He wanted to do something, but now all he could do was wait and that was already driving him crazy.
"He'll be okay, right? Jin-hyung can help?" He had to help, he couldn't be without Ten. "I need him!"
"Hobi, Ten is very sick right now. And when people take the drugs that he takes, they say things they don't mean and they lie. They want you to do everything to help you do the bad things to get them the drugs. I've seen it before so many times. Even if he says he will, Ten will never hate you." He knew what must have happened and Hobi was too young to cope with this kind of stress, too afraid to ask for help. He reached forward and pulled him into a tight hug. "Yoongi did the right thing. You two could have gotten so hurt, we were so scared for you. Don't even do that to me again."
Raising his hand up, he stroked Hobi's hair softly and tried to calm him down. "Ten will be fine. Jin-hyung can fix him. Easily. We got this, yeah? Me and Jin. Not random dealers."
"I don't like Cheon." He said that again, because he felt it was worth repeating. "He picks boys that he thinks will grow up to be hot." Hobi might still be young himself, but he still felt that was gross. So very gross. "He likes Ten and I hate him."
Ten belonged with him and he would be there for him always. "I... I wanted to ask you, but I didn't want you to arrest Ten. Please don't arrest Ten, he doesn't mean it. He's just in so much pain." So much pain right now too and he couldn't help him.
