"Stuff for these little mites and some stuff for you. You should get some new clothes, yeah? Maybe sneakers. And something fun. Maybe like a mp3 player or something." He shrugged his shoulders, not sure what Hobi liked but he had a feeling it was what every boy his age liked. Shoes, clothes and music. "Me, you and Yoongi can go out and get the boys something fun. Some toys."
"We get toys?" Jimin didn't understand, he tilted his head to the side and he didn't want to be a bother, he wanted to be cheap. Easy. Yoongi said that grown ups like easy kids. He looked at Jin with wide eyes. "I have Min Teddy, it's okay. I don't cost a lot." There. Sold himself as an ideal son. "I can also be really, really quiet!"
"Okay! I'll tell Suga-hyung... He won't wanna leave Jungkook, but it will be okay." Hobi really wanted to get all the things Namjoon was promising. His boyfriend would love it! He really had to try and find Ten, next time they left them alone at night. "I know what all the boys like, so I'll be useful."
"I wanna go with you, Joonie-hyung." Tae didn't understand why he didn't get to. "Why can't I?"
Meanwhile Jin was dealing with the other crisis. "I'm sure you can be." Jin smiled and ran his fingers through Jimin's hair. "But we want to give you some gifts, to make you happy. Wouldn't you like to have more to play with?"
"Because the older boys need some alone time and one of us has to take them. Jin hyung is very busy so you have to be a good boy for him." Oh, Tae. This was not his first time being a little too clingy but Namjoon was patient, trying his best to ease him. "Try talking to Yoongi and if not, we can find some other way. I'm sure Kookie will come around."
Hopefully. Maybe. Boy, these kids were difficult.
"Yeah but I'm cheap. I'm easy! I'm a good boy so you would --" Would find him a good child and maybe have him forever and ever. And then he wouldn't have to go back to the cold and be sick again. "I'll buy you something." He had no money but he could get some. He hugged Jin hyung, tight and needy. "What do you like?"
"He'll be fine, he's probably just upset because things are changing. He's never good with that." Hobi shrugged, unsure how else to explain it. "But he will feel so much better once I have an mp3 player." Clearly.
Tae held on to Namjoon's shirt, but at least didn't ask to stay with him any more. "Are you going to miss me when you're gone, Joonie-hyung? You will, yeah?"
"I like seeing you and the others happy," Jin offered, not sure what else to say. "Make sure to get me that rabbit shape, so I can make things Jungkook will like a lot." He really wanted to make the youngest smile the way he'd seen sometimes when he interacted with the others. Just never with him and Namjoon.
"Oh yeah, he'll be thrilled." Namjoon had to laugh. He really did like Hobi, he made him laugh. Reaching out, he ruffled the boy's hair and grinned. "You really are my angel." Someone who made him laugh when he was this stressed. He felt Tae tug at his shirt and reached down to gently ease the tugging before he ruined another shirt. He was good at pulling the buttons off. "I'll miss you the whole time."
With a sigh, he reached out and pulled Tae in close, cupping the back of his head. "Do you want some Joonie and TaeTae alone time tonight? We can read a story together and draw."
"Kookie will love you if you give him rabbit things. He loves bunnies. He is a bunny. He has two front teeth, it's so cute." Jimin made a nibbling motion, doing his best bunny impression.
Hobi beamed, honestly happy over the compliment. Usually people outside their group were more likely to call him annoying. He felt his heart beat a bit faster and caught himself. No getting attached. He was smarter than that. "I'll go shower, hyung." So he'd be ready to leave.
"Yes! I want Joonie time. We can have research." Tae was just happy to have learned a new word - namely 'research' - and he put it in whenever he thought was nice. "The best time."
"Then maybe you and TaeTae can help me make little bunny treats for him before you go watch your movie?" Seemed like a good idea. He was already thinking that he could maybe make him a little bunny themed breakfast with some ingenuity, so his no-day would end a little sooner. Especially since, at this rate, Yoongi wasn't going to get any breakfast either.
He frowned and got up, carrying Jimin with him. "Do you want to watch me make bunny rice balls? It's easy."
"We can research. I found some really cool books about aliens but they're top secret, no one can know about them! We have to keep them a secret." He playfully shushed Tae and pretended like it was a proper secret, watching Hobi go off before turning his attention back to Tae. "You just have to be such a good boy for Jin today. Can you do that for me? Be my little buddy and behave for Jin?"
Not that Tae was often intentionally ill behaved but he was a whirlwind of chaos and destruction. He couldn't help it.
Jimin nodded intently and clung to Jin, looking across the room as Jungkook ran out and away from his hyung, still in just his underwear. They had adorable little pandas on. Clearly dressing him was not going well. He rushed across the room and around the couch, climbing onto it and glaring at the door. No pants! No shirt! No!
"I always behave. I'm the best." Tae wanted to keep assuring Namjoon about how well behaved he was, but then Jungkook ran past them and he blinked.
"Oh boy." Jin had to smile a little, because Jungkook's little glare was adorable, but that wasn't exactly helpful, as he recognised, so he focused on forming two small rice balls, then he used some more rice to form the ears to go with the tiny rabbits. "Can you see them? We'll need something to make their faces..."
Yoongi walked past them all, hands in his pockets as he stopped by the couch and engaged in a glare off with Jungkook, his pants and shirt under his arm. "You'll be cold if you stay like that all day. See if I care."
"Okay. I'll be cold!" Namjoon had to turn his head. Holy shit, he just heard Jungkook speak, clear as day. Clearly a 'no day' was serious business. Jungkook glared his adorable little glare and then stuck his tongue out at Yoongi. Usually he was much better behaved but it was kind of endearing to see the boy actually act his age. He pointed at his pants and shirt. "No."
"Kookie, you're gonna get cold." Jimin offered, trying to help before he got distracted by rice balls. "Uuuh, what makes good bunny noses and eyes?"
"Bunny?" Jungkook's ears pricked up at that and he stood on the couch, shifting from foot to foot to see what was happening. When Yoongi moved a little in the side of his vision, he ducked away.
"Woah, he's vocal today." Namjoon had to laugh, smiling up at Yoongi. "Toddlers like to be awkward some days, it happens."
"If we use the scissors to cut it, we can use sea weed. Look." Luckily the scissors he kept for things like that were child safe - they even happened to be pink and sparkly, so after showing what he meant, he handed the scissors to Jimin, figuring that he could try with whatever tiny bits Jimin would cut for him. "Aw, see? We've made a cute bunny."
"I wanna see, I wanna see!" Tae climbed off Namjoon's lap to see the bunnies, tugging at Jin's pants to make him pick him up. "Aw, they are so cute! Kookie, come look."
Yoongi rolled his eyes, setting the shirt and pants down on the sofa and folding his arms. So not what he needed today, but every now and then it happened. He stuck his tongue right back out at him.
"Have some breakfast, kid. Sit down." Namjoon pulled a chair out for Yoongi and pretty much dragged the kid into it, pointing around the food. "Help yourself. Hey, you free today? I wanna go shopping and I'm taking Hobi. I want to take you too."
Bunny? There was a bunny? Hmpth! "No."
It was said more than meant and Jungkook watched for a long time before trailing over to Jin and bouncing on the balls of his feet, trying to see the bunny. Okay, he would humour them. He was a generous boy, he would allow them his time. He didn't ask Jin to pick him up, just tried to see but he was far too short. "Bunny?"
"No, I'm not free. I'm going to the Grammys today, my limousine will come by soon." Yoongi wasn't sure why he couldn't just give a normal answer. It was a way to build up a barrier, he supposed. He could see the others getting attached. He'd have to be prepared. "Sure. I'm free." Shopping? Maybe they could help with carrying.
Jin made sure that Tae sat safely on the counter, then he bent and picked up Jungkook, holding him as he showed the two little bunnies sitting on their plate. "Do you like them? I'm going to add some yummy things so someone can eat them. I'm just not sure who'd want to eat them, it'd have to be someone who really likes bunnies."
Jungkook frowned and then pointed at himself and made a needy little noise. This was the most vocal he'd been so far but his no day was falling apart and now they were bunnies so clearly he had to be. "Jungkook." Jungkook liked bunnies, he wanted to eat the bunnies. He made a grabby hand to them but Jimin stopped him.
"Let Jin hyung finish them, then you can have. Are you excited?" Jungkook nodded. "Are you happy that Jin cooked for you?" Jungkook did the same again and Jimin beamed, looking so proudly at Jin. The best appa!
"Well, if you're not too busy at the grammys, being a big famous music star, I wanna get the kids some toys and you could all use new threads." Playfully, he reached out and tugged Yoongi's shirt. "I'll give you a sum for clothes and then maybe something just for fun. Like an ipod or whatever-- do they still make ipods?"
"Oh, I guess then they must be Jungkook bunnies. Here, we'll make them some grass to sit in." He used all the little bits and pieces Jimin had sat in for that and then he used some of the other breakfast elements to make a flower and cut a little heart shape out of the egg that was already done, so that Jungkook would have a balanced breakfast. Finally he took the plate and put it down on the table, lifting Jungkook back up. "Do you want my help eating?" Because maybe it was still a no day for Yoongi's involvement. Jin didn't know how this worked.
"Dunno. Maybe?" An ipod or anything like that would be really exciting. Yoongi wanted something to make music with though, not just listen. He wondered if that was even possible, instruments were so expensive... One day. So many things to hope for. He focused on eating, glancing over at Jungkook and frowning, concern showing a little too easily. Not another one getting attached. Damn.
"No." It was still a no day for everything but he couldn't seem to get the food in without ruining the bunnies so in the end, he held the fork out to Jin with an insistent little frown. "Bunnies." And then he opened his mouth nice and wide to be fed, maybe some food would ease his bad mood. It could happen, he was just feeling a bit cranky. They had changed places three times lately and he wasn't sure what was going on. It always left him upset.
Namjoon leaned back in his chair and smiled at Jin. "You did it, bae! Look at that, he's eating breakfast." He gave Jin a little heart with his hand before turning back to Yoongi. "We'll have a look around today, I got some extra spending money from my savings fund so we'll go a little nuts this once, get you guys some cool stuff. We'll definitely get Jungkook a bunny and Tae a tiger."
"Say 'ah'." Jin fed Jungkook happily, smiling and feeling absolutely endeared. So sweet, so tiny. He felt as if he was melting, his heart definitely was.
"I bet it tastes better, cause it's bunnies. Hyung, we need to make more bunny food." Tae decided. "It's for research." Such a good word. "Right, Kookie? Jin-hyung said we would make bunny cookies!"
"Hobi likes everything expensive." Yoongi rolled his eyes at his friend's taste, watching Jungkook with a lot of worry and finally just looking down at the table again. Damn. This was going to be so hard on all of them. Well. All the ones younger than him, obviously.
"Bunnies." Jungkook gulped down his food and reached out to pick up his sippy cup and down some juice in between bites. He was doing a good job of eating. One bunny down, two more to go. "I want cookie." That too. After these bunnies, more bunnies. Then he might be willing to be happy today. Maybe.
"He's so silly." Jimin giggled as he watched Jin feed Jungkook, turning his head to Tae. "What's research?"
"I ain't that rich so we'll bargain him down together, yeah?" Namjoon reached out and put a hand on Suga's shoulder, firm but soft, trying not to seem threatening. He slid his chair closer so he could whisper in his ear. "I wanna get a big surprise for the kids. Lots and lots of books. You're gonna have to help me pick them out. That cool with you? We'll have a lot to carry back."
"Cookie comes later. You can help me, right? All of you. We'll decorate them with chocolate." Every child loved chocolate, no way he could go wrong with that. "We have sprinkles too, so they'll be colourful and delicious bunnies." What a good plan. "And then you boys can watch a movie and maybe let me study a bit." Here was hoping.
"Research is when you search... And then you find stuff and you know more." Something like that. Tae was sure Namjoon explained it a bit better. "I'm an alien researcherer!"
"That's cool. I'm good at carrying." Yoongi felt his chest tighten and he wanted to cry. He hated how sweet these two kept being, because it would fall apart and then there they were again, only they'd have their hearts broken. He wanted to yell and throw a tantrum over it, but he realised that wouldn't exactly be mature, so instead he simply ducked out from Namjoon's grip and got up so he could start gathering the bowls and plates and do the dishes.
He rubbed at his eyes when he thought no one was looking and tried not to get too excited by the idea of how happy they'd all be about getting books and toys. He wanted them to have everything nice! Things just never stayed that way.
Jungkook finished most of his breakfast bar one rice bunny. It was special so he swiftly closed his mouth and shook his head. "No." He held his plate tight and then kicked his legs a little. "I wanna go down." He had to go down. Namjoon swooped by and handled it because currently Jimin was mobbing Jin for help with someone and it was easier to just pitch in whenever.
Jungkook kept a hold of his plate and toddled over to Yoongi, pulling his pant leg. "Hyung."
He held up his final bunny. He didn't like that he'd been so mean to him, he was upset and it wasn't nice. He loved his hyung and he wanted him to have nice things. Like his bunny. "Hyung, eat the bunny." He held the plate up higher. "For hyung."
"Thank you, Kookie. That's a really cute bunny, just like you." Yoongi took the plate and obediently ate the rice bunny, smiling down at Jungkook as he did so. Then he crouched down by him and wrapped him into a hug, just holding him for a moment. "Are you going to let hyung help you dress now?" Here was hoping.
