"Woah, they're so beautiful. So fragile." He would break them in a heart beat. "Do I have to give them by hand? I shouldn't. Can someone else do it? YOONGI?" He needed him out here in case something had to be held or touched. All had to be cautious, after all. He couldn't ruin his gift to Jin. "I will fuck these up."
Wait, no, that sounded intentional. He looked up at Tae apologetically. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean intentionally. They call me the God of Destruction and not because I smash through battle fields."
"He once broke his own finger." Jungkook pointed out.
"You are supposed to send someone you trust with the gift. It's a gesture." Tae waved his hand, deciding that explaining the symbolism wasn't really important right now. Still, he was relieved when Yoongi took the earrings from Namjoon. Hopefully that way they would actually make it to Jin.
"You can leave to bring them to him now, Yoongi?" Tae bowed his head to show respect, never quite sure how to address Yoongi. All of these customs were so confusing. He turned to look at Namjoon again. "Jin has given me the gift for you. I'm honoured he's chosen me."
No need to disclose that the first choice, Jimin, had just straight up refused to go. Instead he pulled the gift out from his sleeve, holding it out to Namjoon, once more bowing. "I am sure you will find it harder to destroy."
Jin had chosen to get a dagger for his warrior husband, one forged by a master who knew the ancient secrets and tradition, the steel folded again and again until it was indestructible. They might not be great warriors, but their people knew how to manipulate metal. The entire weapon was beautiful, but functional too. Tae had aided Jin in choosing a gift, knowing these people's culture well enough by now. A weapon was a better choice than something that was just beautiful.
Yoongi looked at the dagger for a few moments, then commented. "Keep it away from my toes."
"It's so fucking pretty, holy shit. How am I supposed to keep it clean?" Namjoon looked it over, it was beautiful and he wanted to keep it in his hands forever. The warriors all looked at the dagger, awed and impressed. He swiftly pocketed the dagger and bowed politely to Tae.
"I wanna get married, I want weapons too." Jungkook pouted and Namjoon reached out, stroking the boy's hair lovingly and then slapping him away. He loved Jungkook and Yoongi deeply, they were like his true family. He wished he could have been born into theirs instead of his own.
"I'll get you a cool dagger as a wedding favour. Now. Listen to me, Kookie. We need security handled, everyone is to be polite. If one of your men dares to touch one of Jin's in any way that isn't consented to, they are to be sent to me or Yoongi. Got it?" No one was going to make this mess worse than it was. "Protect Jin's men first. Ourselves after."
"Got it, hyung!" Jungkook grinned and saluted Namjoon, bowing to Tae and Namjook before hurrying along to brief his men.
"Thank you, Namjoon-nim." Tae bowed his head, glad to see that the gift had gone over well. He knew how important that could be in the long run, impressing the men with something like that might prove to be vital. They needed them. And, yes, they also needed them to not be inappropriate. He'd consider it a miracle if he made it through the day with his ass untouched. "You are a noble man, I am sure my prince will see that soon."
Yoongi looked at Namjoon, holding the box with the earrings still. "Do you want me to go give them to him?"
"Yeah, go, I'll see him at the ceremony. His disappointment awaits." Namjoon smiled despite everything, he didn't feel like a noble man or even a good man. Just a man taking advantage of someone clearly desperate and afraid. Jin didn't want him and he didn't blame him, why would he want him? He pulled a parchment from inside his robes out and unfolded it, reading it over.
Was it dumb to read a poem to Jin? Would he like it? Every time he tried to be sweet, he scared him more. "I will do my best in the ceremony, I want to make him happy. If I can. I know I may ruin it but I can only try."
"I believe he will appreciate you, once he actually knows you, Namjoon-nim. I really do. I'm sorry he can't see it yet." Not that he entirely blamed him there, by all accounts the fault was mostly with Namjoon's amazingly bad luck. Tae looked around to realise that Yoongi had already gone. When had that happened?
"...sometimes it's annoying when he does that." Just being silent all over the place. He was just saying.
"He's silent but he knows how to make himself known if he wants to." He was always impressed by Yoongi, he was so much cooler than he was. Maybe he could have handled this better than he could. He slipped his poem away and sighed, leaning on the banister and trying to calm his nerves. "Tell me what to do. What not to do. Just ... make sure I don't fuck up, please? I keep doing that."
From smashing tea cups to offending the elders and one unfortunate laugh during a dance that had been put on for them... it was kind of funny!
"I suggest you don't laugh or smash anything." Seemed pretty basic, but by now Tae knew Namjoon a little too well to take that for granted. "What you have to do is walk down the aisle. Yoongi could walk with you, that would be your decision."
He strongly hoped that he would decide to walk with Yoongi. "There will be talk about what this union symbolises, a lot of praying to the Gods to bless it and then you have to hold your hands above the eternal flame. Make sure not to get too close. You have to hold Jin's hand and look at him. It's supposed to be a test of sorts, symbolic, any impurity would be burned off, anyone not sincere would not be able to withstand the pain, that sort of thing. But don't worry, the flame isn't that hot. Then you say your vows."
"Oh good, fire. That'll end well. I guess I've come this far, I can do this without fucking up. I owe him one thing without a fuck up, it should be the wedding."
He smiled at Tae and nodded in thanks. "I will go scare my men into behaving. I'll be there on time with Yoongi to complete our ceremony." He could at least not fuck up as long as Yoongi was there.

"I was training and my foot hit me too hard."
"He once stabbed Yoongi by accident."
"It was just the toe!"
