"Luckily I'm not pretty," Jin declared, taking a step to the side to let the waitress by. She placed a plate in front of Gyungho and bowed, then moved away again and Jin finally finished his statement, rather liking the pause. He felt it was great for dramatic effect. "I'm beautiful."
Modest, however, he saw no reason to be. "You should enjoy the food. Then you can tell Cheon-nim that there is nothing to worry about here."
"You are that." Gyungho grinned goofily, not meaning to. He swiftly tried to hide it and looked down at his food instead. Urgh, eating was not his friend lately, he drank so much this morning/last night that he kind of felt full still. He cleared his throat and nodded his head, knowing that it was pretty much the end of things. Cheon could get the positive message and, if all went well, they'd stay loyal.
"The walls, yeah, they used to be blue? Right?" Gyungho just wanted to know if his memory was accurate or not. Some days he did wonder.
"Blue, yes. This fits my skin better. Now it glows." Well, he had his reasons for doing things. But something here was more interesting. "You have been here before? I apologise for not recognising you. I just remember your... You are more polite than your friends."
They were rude assholes, but hey. At least he hadn't said it out loud.
"I never ate here before. I washed dishes. Back when I was at school. Middle school, actually." He looked at Jin bravely and took him in before taking a bite of his food and chewing thoughtfully. "You don't wear glasses any more." He had never really seen Jin properly because they ran in different worlds and he only ever saw him in passing glances, never having a proper conversation until now.
But for some reason, he always remember people. It wasn't just Jin, it was all these random people in his life, their details stayed with him. "It's not hard to be more polite than that lot, for the record. They have the table manners of chimps."
"Oh... You are Gyungho-ssi." Wait. No. Jin bowed immediately, knowing he had to be respectful. The guy carried a gun. "Gyungho-nim. It's been a long time. Please forget about the glasses, they were a mistake of my youth."
Hiding his handsome face. Ugh, he hated wearing glasses. "I'm sorry for not recognising you sooner."
He could still barely believe it, but they didn't really go through that much staff, so he knew all the names and this was the only one that fit. "You have grown up very well."
"So I keep hearing. I timed seeing people well, I gotta say. No one saw me much during my tye dye phase." Shame, too. He really rocked the hippie joker look. Oh man, he missed doing magic mushrooms and acid... ah well. He had bigger things to focus on. He had to help Minjun, after all, that was his goal these days. That and -- and Taehyung. Somehow. He'd work it out.
"Not nim though, never nim. Nim is for your betters. You own this place, I'm a loser who plays cards. I should be calling you nim."
Gyungho didn't like the pressure of being that high up. It was terrifying. "You grew up better, by the way. Seriously, congratulations on the... the face." What. "Good job."
"Thank you." Jin framed his face with his fingers and then blew a kiss. Blew a kiss at the gangster that had come here to threaten them into falling in line behind the new boss. What.
"I'm worldwide handsome." Well, he might as well let him know that. He wouldn't be called just a pretty boy when he was so much more. "I hope you enjoy the food. You should come again, without your friends."
"I can believe that." Well, he was pretty fucking handsome. He didn't think he'd seen a guy that hot outside of Kdramas and Kpop. And as much fun as it was to pretend to act alongside them while watching TV, they never seemed real. This guy was. How weird was that? He wished he could reach out and poke his face.
But he didn't. Wisely. "I don't have any friends so I wouldn't worry about that." He only had Minjun and that was on the down low. "Same old, same old with me. I don't really do friends. I just like people and they like me. Sometimes." He winked at Jin, a smile on his face. "You like me?"
"Of course." Not that he'd say otherwise to an armed man unless he was at least a little bit drunk, but hey. Apart from being a gangster, Gyungho seemed like a nice guy, he was enjoying the food and he complimented him, Jin couldn't complain about that. "I don't have any friends either. We will get along so well."
It was a running joke, him not having friends. Although with how busy the restaurant kept him, sometimes it felt more true than he'd want to admit.
"Oh yeah, I think we will." Seeing Jin was nice, strangely fulfilling. He really hoped to see him more again soon. He would lie to Cheon, tell him whatever he had to just to cover Jin's ass from any potential offence. As far as they'd discussed, Jin planned to stay. That was plenty loyal.
"I don't want to steal any more of your time so... thank you for speaking with me." Gyungho bowed to Jin and finished up the last bite of his food. He didn't eat a lot but these days, he rarely did. He lived of protein shakes and late night drunk snacks. "I appreciate your hospitality."
"See you soon, Gyungho-ssi." Jin bowed and smiled, before stepping back and turning around. Hey, that had worked out a lot better than he would have expected. Still, Cheon was an issue. But hopefully, maybe, it could be an issue for another day.
