"They looked up ... why?" Why the hell were people looking through that stuff? It was private. He buried his head against Tae's chest and tried to bite back not just sadness but a wave of sudden anger. "It's okay, Tae. We'll be okay. We just have to be careful. I don't care what happens to me, I don't blame you. I'll never blame you. We're just unlucky."
"Explain to him the deal, I'm going to nip out for a few. And seriously, consider it. I'm not dicking around with you. Just try to trust me." Namjoon moved from the wall and headed out of the door, intent on finding some food for them both.
Jimin peered over Tae's shoulder, hating all of this. "What deal?"
"He's just bullshitting. He thinks I'm stupid." Tae tried to be as dismissive as possible, he didn't want to give Jimin false hope. "He said that if I give them the names, they'd give us protection. Keep you safe." Because in his mind it was just about Jimin needing protection. "He told me he's the second in command and that he talked Min Yoongi into it."
Certainly didn't seem like a second in command to him.
"We would be protected from the people we stole the drugs for, right?" Well, that didn't seem so bad. Jimin sighed and leaned against his friend, wishing he knew what the right move was. "I mean... it's getting close to that point, Tae, where I don't think we have a lot to lose by taking a chance. What if he isn't playing us? Then we stand a chance. If we don't go with the deal then we never stood a chance anyway."
He didn't think it was real but he liked the odds. "I'm not saying we won't die but I like the idea of the lie over the harsh truth. It makes it easier."
"I don't want you to get hurt, Jiminie." He really wished he had a better way of explaining this, but instead all he could do was holding him and wishing he could believe anyone. Trust anyone. He knew people never really cared, but Jimin was always so trusting. He thought everyone was sweet or nice.
"I don't want you to get hurt but you already are. You know, you don't always get what you want." If he did then he'd be the one suffering and not Tae. His friend had always been there for him, always protected him, he was the first friend he made on the outside that really treated him like any other person. He didn't want to lose him. "I say we go for it. Gamble our lives. We don't have a lot to lose by doing it."
Jimin leaned in and pulled Tae into his arms, hugging him even tighter this time. "I'm so sorry, Tae. For everything. And I just want you to know, if I don't see you again after this, that you made my life great and I love you more than anyone."
"I love you more than anyone too, Jiminie." And Tae still blamed himself, but he couldn't just stop that. He was too protective of Jimin, for good reason, and it didn't help that people kept confirming that he was to blame. The assholes that had set them up. Jungkook. His words kept replaying in his head and he tried to push them back. "I'll give them all I know."
He rubbed at his eyes and hugged him tighter. "You've made my life an adventure, Jiminie."
They held each other for a while in comfortable silence before Namjoon returned and held out some candy bars to them, kicking the door shut behind them, "I wanted to get proper food but we had none so it's just candy. The nearest food place to us is tacos and they're just -- they're kind of dodgy. No one needs that."
Jimin looked at the candy for a long time and then turned his head to Tae. If they were doing this, they may as well do it now. Jimin took the candy and nodded in appreciation.
Tae took a candy bar from Jimin, since it saved him accepting it directly from Namjoon, then he took a deep breath, staring at the ground. "Ko Cheon. He's the one who approached us first. Hit on Jimin. He's a pig, he smells like one too. He has a square face and he always scowls." It wasn't the world's greatest description, but whatever. "One of his friends was called Sung-ho. I don't know his last name. They just called the other one Fatty." For obvious reason, he felt.
He looked at Jimin for a moment, then ventured onward. "I tried following them once. They met someone and he had black hair, the one that's cut like someone put a bowl on their head? He looked old." Which wasn't saying much, coming from someone this young. "Like, thirty or so. Very thin."
"Huh. I know Ko Cheon. He's revolting." He was the one that described Jimin as fuckable today. God, that guy was a mean bastard. He really had to keep those kids away from him. Although this did confirm his suspicion over what gang it was. "Okay, so, they told you to steal the coke for them and they knew where the location was?"
"Cheon told me." While he had his hands down the back of Jimin's pants but he was a bigger guy and Jimin had relented. "He said they knew it was hidden in the bar on the bottom floor and they said they'd take care of the guards and we just had to go in."
"That's not great." Shit. Definitely an inside job. "So that's Ko Cheon, Sung-ho, Fatty and there's an older guy. Got it.
"Your gang is much better looking." Probably not quite that relevant, but still. Even the boss was still young and quite handsome, everyone in that other gang had been gross. Tae wondered how that happened, maybe one had to be good-looking to be in this gang. A bit like being an idol. Made as much sense as anything.
"So, what now? Can you even decide anything? It's all whatever Min Yoongi says, isn't it?"
"I just did all of this without asking Yoongi so what do you think?"
"Tae, please. Don't provoke." Jimin didn't want to get hurt, especially now that they had no leverage. He simply unwrapped a candy bar and shoved it in Tae's mouth next time he talked. Seemed like the only way to stop him.
Namjoon pulled out his phone and sent a text
Got the names, come meet me in the room where Jimin is being held. :P
"He'll be on his way. Then we can all talk together."
Tae grumpily munched on his candy bar, propping his chin up on Jimin's shoulder to hold him and to be able to keep him safe, just in case. At the very least, they had a few more moments together like this. That was worth it, wasn't it?
Min Yoongi walked in and Tae eyed him critically. He didn't look so scary. Mostly short. His face was pretty soft. But he remembered how scared he'd been when the man looked right at him, gun or no gun, so he supposed it wasn't a question of looks.
"You think we should talk?" Yoongi looked at Namjoon, raising his eyebrows.
"We can do it here. I'm creating trust. It's a thing, work with me." Namjoon smiled as he bit into one of his own candy bars. What? He was also hungry. "We have the names but as we discussed before, we're going to protect them. Especially since these guys are nasty fuckers. You won't be surprised when you hear who it is."
Jimin leaned in against Tae, his candy bar gone and his arms around his friend, wanting desperately to keep him safe from any attacks.
"Ah." That really was not surprising. Suga glanced over at the two boys for a moment, just holding on to each other as if it could save them from drowning and he pushed back the thoughts that Namjoon had put into his head. Comparing these two to him and Namjoon. Kind of took him back. "I've told you I want to shoot Cheon's dick off before, I'm pretty sure I remember that. But no one likes Cheon. He can't have had that info on his own accord."
"There's other names but Cheon told Jimin that Hobi's bar was where the coke was so he must have gotten it from someone. There's definitely a rat, I just don't know how to narrow it down." Namjoon took another bite of his candy bar, idly looking over at the two boys clinging to each other for safety. "I have some ideas, we can discuss them later but I think the kids deserve some slack, yeah? They told us. Eventually. We can let them sleep in here and then tomorrow we work out how to go forward."
"Fair enough." He always hated when Namjoon was right, although he had always kind of known that he was right about this. It was complicated, he didn't want to be weak, he couldn't be weak. It was easier when he let Namjoon talk him into giving in. "I'll think about what to do. Might have a war on our hands after all."
He turned to look at Tae, nodding his head at him. "You see anyone else?"
"...someone. Maybe."
"Think about whether that maybe is a definitely and if you could identify him." With that Yoongi headed for the door, pausing before opening it. "You two eat ramen?"
"...yeah. Jimin likes chicken."
"Let them have ramen." Whatever. He headed outside, holding the door for Namjoon, already giving him a look, daring him to say anything.
