"Just remember to be careful, yeah? Or I can't let TaeTae go to kindergarten yet." Yoongi kept his arm around Jungkook, who was a big boy, wondering if it would help to appeal to his big boy responsibilities. "Jungkook took care of Tae while he had to stay at home, so he knows how to be careful with him, yeah? Jungkook, you have to keep an eye on Tae, you know he needs you."
Tae nodded, giving the thumbs up. "I'm at a disadvantage." He was also a smart boy who realised that Jungkook needed a good reason to not just be scared.
"I can take care of Tae." Jungkook agreed as he clung onto Yoongi still, looking at his big brother with wide eyes. "So can you so you should stay."
"You should stay, Yoongi-hyung!" Jimin came closer to Yoongi, looking at him with literal heart eyes and holding up a glue covered piece of paper that had red glitter all over it. It looked like a shiny massacre. "It's a heart. For you. Cause you have my heart cause you're all pretty like a prince."
"He has an official boyfriend." Jungkook just had to point it out.
"Ten-hyung says that doesn't matter when it comes to love." Jimin batted his eyelids.
"...Ten would say that." Yoongi smiled at Jimin, while stroking Jungkook's hair. "Jungkookie's right, Jiminie, I don't want to make my official boyfriend jealous, you know? You are such a pretty boy." Still, he reached out to admire the heart properly. "You are so talented. Maybe he can show you how to use the glitter, Jungkook?"
"Jimin is really good with glitter!" Tae was always ready to bolster his friend up.
"You know, Kookie, I can't stay. I have to work, remember?"
"Okay but we have lunch together still cause eomma said you'd have lunch with me so if you don't, I'll tell eomma and she'll make you hold up books again." Cause their eomma had weird punishments and her favourite was making them hold books over their head. For some reason. Jungkook slowly moved away and held onto Tae's hand, still holding onto Yoongi a little. "Promise you'll come."
"You could eat lunch with me. We don't gotta tell your official boyfriend that we did. It's a secret." Yeah. Ten was a bad influence on these kids sometimes.
"I have lunch with Joon-ah, Jiminie. Sorry." Yoongi rolled his eyes with a smile, looking at Jungkook. "I'll be here for lunch. Promise."
He spotted Ten and wanted to walk over to talk to him quickly, but Tae spotted Ten first and the excitement took over.
"TEN HYUNG!" His smile was so wide, he couldn't help it. He bounced a little, even if he got berated every time he bounced too much. "I'm back, I'm back again! I MISSED YOU!"
"I missed you too but settle down, come on, I hear you're sick and if you got sicker, I might be really, really sad. You don't want that, do you? Cause I missed you a lot already" Ten came over and crouched down, on Tae's level so he could give him a soft hug. Jungkook was mesmerised by Ten's shiny earrings and almost grabbed them before he remembered, bowing nicely. "Oh? It's Jungkookie. Are you gonna try and be with us again?"
"... Maybe." Jungkook shuffled awkwardly. "Eomma says I don't hafta but I wanna. Yoongi is gonna have lunch with me."
"And not me." Jimin lamented as he hugged onto Ten's arm, nuzzling it. "Boys are mean."
"They sure are mean." He looked up at Yoongi with a smirk. "You breaking little Jiminie's heart? Mean."
"I can't have my boyfriend run off with some bran guy again." Yoongi shrugged, mostly figuring that the fewer tiny children he had to have lunch with, the better. Tae did play with Ten's earring, having no reservations there.
"Did you really miss me?" He smiled happily, leaning into the hug. Ten was the best! The coolest hyung. "I have SO many toys now! And pokemon, Joonie-hyung is teaching me pokemon."
He had so much to share. "Jiminie! Now you can come visit me some time!" Things were so much better without appa being there.
"Are you gonna be okay, Jungkookie? Cause hyung has to work. But I will pick you up for lunch and maybe after, you can even be with Jiho in Namjoon's class for a bit."
"I missed you so much, I got very sad. I wanted to come and visit you in the hospital but I was so busy here. I got you a special present but I have to give it to you later or other kids might be sad they didn't get a present too." Ten told Tae quietly, mostly side-eyeing a table of whiny girls. He didn't worry about Jimin, spoiled brat or not. He was very happy to give presents, Jimin was kind and shared well - a sign of good parents.
"What did you get him? Is it cool? Cause TaeTae was so brave, he deserves every present!"
Jungkook watched the two boys, they seemed nice and Ten-hyung was friendly too. He nodded, seeming a little unsure. "If I get lunch and I can see Namjoonie-hyung later, I'll stay. Cause I'm a big boy."
"We can share it!" Obviously Tae had no idea what he was getting, but he liked sharing things with his friends, because that made every present even more exciting. He wrapped his arms around Jungkook, making sure that he would feel included. "We can tell Jiminie about our adventures in the hospital!"
Mainly the adventure was Jungkook getting to sit on Tae's bed as he was wheeled around for x-rays, but that had been pretty exciting. "You know, Jiminie, after I fell and was injured, my hyung carried me to the music room and we were there all night!"
Yoongi listened, just to make sure Tae wouldn't say too much, he knew that Jiho and Tae had agreed to keep everything a secret and that was probably for the best. He finally let go of Jungkook and moved away, trying to test if that would set him off. "I'll see you at lunch time, yeah?"
"Woooooah, Jiho is so strong!" Jimin was in awe, listening to Tae with obvious excitement. Well, to him it was interesting, he didn't care what anyone else thought. Jungkook looked at Tae and wanted to join in but then Yoongi was going and he was torn. In the end, Ten picked him up and sat him in his lap.
"So you got to go to the hospital and take care of TaeTae? Such a big boy!"
Ten distracted Jungkook into telling a story and swiftly waved Yoongi off when he got a chance. Sometimes not seeing the one they loved leave made it easier when they were gone.
"He is! He carried me aaaall the way and then he watched me all night, cause I couldn't breathe so well. I would have been deaded without him!" Tae was very sure that this was true and while he wouldn't talk about his bad appa, he could talk about his hero brother and gladly would. "Jiho-hyung kept me safe from everyone and then the next day in the hospital, I got to meet Jungkookie and his eomma and appa! They are really nice. Jungkook, your eomma makes the best food."
And food that had to be eaten or she would be upset, he knew that by now.
"Eomma is scary but she is good at making food so she says it's not scary, it's love."
"I dunno, she's kinda scary." She always said weird, vaguely racist things to Ten but she had a smile on her face and it was very confusing. She didn't see to have ill intent, she was just... of her time, he guessed. A wonderful woman though. A brilliant mother. Her two kids were just as scary. "I'm glad you're feeling better. We paused our kite project just for you. We didn't want to finish without you."
"I said I wasn't gonna cause we have to do it together!" Jimin insisted, beaming at Tae.
"Thanks, hyung! I wanna do the kite project, cause I learned about aerodynamics even more! Joonie-hyung gave me a lesson and we built some paper planes." Then they had played with them in the kitchen until Yoongi threw them away. To be fair, they had literally landed in the soup pot, so Namjoon and Tae had agreed that throwing them away made sense.
"Jungkook can do a kite too, he is really good at crafts." Tae nodded his head eagerly. Then his face fell. "Jiminie! I am not allowed to dance for a really, really, really long time!"
"Oh no! Will you still come and watch me dance? I wanna dance with you." Jimin pouted and hugged Tae. Poor Tae. He was at a disadvantage. He needed all the love. "Maybe you can come and tell me if I'm good or not and then afterwards we can do very slow little dancing... maybe?" He looked at Ten to see if it was possible.
"Uhhh... probably not but we could do something that requires little moving. Maybe you could learn rave dancing. That's all in the hands." And literally took no skill. "You can tell Jungkookie what he missed so he can dance too."
"I don't wanna dance." Jungkook hugged his Dooly plushie close. "I have to go see hyung after class cause we have to go home and make spaghetti." Cause he wanted some. And eomma wouldn't make it for him.
"Yes! We get spaghetti today!" Tae was over his sadness at the prospect of spaghetti looking at Jiminie happily. "Hyung and I live with Yoongi-hyung and Joonie-hyung and Yoongi-hyung cooks and it's yummy! ...Joonie-hyung isn't allowed to do kitchen stuff."
A very strict rule. "But I will watch you dance when I don't have spaghetti, Jiminie, promise! Jiminie, do you know pokemon?"
"Yeah, Jin loooooooves it." Jimin let go of not having an audience this week to talk about pokemon. They babbled on for ages and then made their kite a little more, with Ten supervising and Jungkook helpfully patting the kite every time something was done to it. By the time lunch came, Yoongi wasn't here yet.
He pouted and watched the door while Ten tried to clean up the craft supplies that got everywhere.
"Hey!" Yoongi was slightly out of breath, pushing his hair back from his face and smiling at Jungkook. "Sorry, piano emergency." Or else maybe he had just forgotten the time. It happened. Luckily Namjoon had given him a call, knowing his official boyfriend well enough to know he lost track of time over work.
"Did you have a good time? Ten, was he a good boy?"
"Very good boy. He didn't cry or anything. These three are such good boys." Ten ruffled Tae's hair and then held out a snack for him to eat, feeding the boy because he was so darn precious. Jimin climbed half over Ten cause he couldn't crawl on Tae, eating his own snack happily and watching Yoongi with curious eyes.
Jungkook hugged Yoongi's leg and grinned up at him. "I-I made a kite with Tae and Jimin-hyung and then we get to fly it and Ten said I was good and I made the colours for the flappy bit and the string is all curly and--" Jungkook had to stop to breathe.
"He helped so much! It looks so good now!" Tae chewed happily, looking so sweet. "I am so glad I am back in kindergarten! It is nice at home, cause I have toys there and all, but here are my friends and Ten-hyung and now Jungkookie too!"
Clearly that made it the best place. Yoongi patted Jungkook's head. Well, this had gone better than the last times they had tried kindergarten. "Maybe tomorrow you can come again, huh? Or even go back after we have lunch?"
"I think I can but not today. I'm still very little so I need you." Jungkook explained as he held his arms out to be held, careful not to drop Dooly. He got a bit overwhelmed, even if he was having the best time.
"Kids always find it a lot at first, it's hard to stick out a full day. That's why most kids do a half day." But kids with parents who worked had a longer day and Ten were there for them. Like Tae and Jimin. "Tomorrow I think Jungkookie can stay so much longer. Right, guys?"
"Yeah!" Jimin cheered. "Jungkook can do it! Fighting!"
"Yes! Fighting!" Tae made a V sign and smiled at Jungkook. "I'll see you at home later! Maybe we go together..." He wasn't sure. "Then we make spaghetti!"
The best. Yoongi held Jungkook in his arms and nodded, running a hand through Jungkook's hair. "Namjoon will pick you up, I think. We'll see how it goes."
One of the reasons he had to hurry to lunch. "Let's see what's for lunch, Jungkook, huh?"
He carried his little brother out of the room, heading for the cafeteria. "Are you hungry? I'm really hungry."
"I'm hungry. Today was a lot, hyung." Jungkook yawned, he missed nap time and he was hungry. After food, he might just sleep. Could he sleep here? Maybe he could nap on Yoongi? He could teach if he was napping on him. He was sure of it. He rested his chin on Yoongi's shoulder.
"Hyung, am I a big boy yet or am I still little?"
Cause he wanted to be a big boy sometimes but it was way easier to be little. "Do big boys get to be carried?"
"Maybe after lunch, you can lie down on the sofa in the music room and sleep while I have my lesson. If you are quiet." Piano music should be calming enough and the sofa was pretty comfortable. He had passed out on there more than once. "And you are a big boy sometimes and sometimes a little boy, you know? You are brave and you do your best to be a good boy, but you still like to be carried and you need nap time. It's okay to be both. Even Jiho is both still!"
"Jiho is really strong and grown up though. TaeTae said he's a hero that saved the day and I wish I could be that. But I like when you save the day too. I think that Tae has a great hyung but mine is better." Cause Yoongi was the coolest thing alive and he loved him more than anything. When they first met, he thought Yoongi was scary but he wasn't at all. He gave the best hugs. "You're the coolest hyung in the whole wide world."
