Tae hesitated a little, but then he moved forward and took Ten's hand, looking behind himself to try and see his hyung a little longer. He really thought it'd be better if they could stay together, but he wasn't old enough yet. One day he'd be as old as hyung! He finally smiled at Ten, bowing.
"I get called Tae or TaeTae! My shoes blink." He showed it off again, stomping and looking down at them. "My hyung is the best and coolest and he made me lunch."
And his hyung had just left, so he felt a little like crying.
"Did he? Oh, he sounds so cool. You'll have so much to show him soon. When you're both done, think of all the pretty pictures you could draw him or paint for him?" Ten suggested as he led Tae over to one of the tables full of kids. He sat down with him, cause he really didn't want the kid to cry. Crying kids always got gross and snotty. "Guys, meet Tae-ah. He's new so we'll all be so, so nice him."
"I'll get him some milk and toast!" One of the kids offered, already getting up excitedly so he could help out his new friend.
"Thanks, Jiminie. Don't spill!" Looking at Tae, Ten placed a hand on his back. "What do you like to do, Tae-ah?"
"I tell stories! Then hyung smiles, even when everything is sad." A very important task he had. "I have to make hyung smile, cause hyung was good friends with my eomma before she died. I was too little, so I didn't know her well, but hyung says that eomma said I'm her little baby and now I'm his little piece of eomma."
He had very important tasks, so he nodded with determination. "Hyung says I live in my own world!" That was something to do, right? "And I like drawing. And dancing! Do you like dancing, mister?"
Woah. That was a hell of an info dump. WELL. Ten looked at him for a long time as if deciding how to react - maybe he should talk to Hobi about that. "I'm sure your hyung wants you to focus on being a good boy and playing with all your friends today so don't worry about hyung." This was a strange kid.
"I do like dancing. I dance a lot. We have dance classes here for older boys and girls, I teach those too."
Jimin came back over and set down the bowl of cereal, milk and toast that he toasted all by himself. "There you go! Breakfast. I'm Jimin! You can call me Jiminie. We can play a lot today."
"I want to grow fast so I can be as big as my hyung and then I can take good care of him." That was how it worked. Tae nodded with determination and then looked at what Jimin had brought him before bowing to him, smiling happily. He liked kids his age. Honestly, he kind of liked everyone, even the mailman was his friend. He had a way of doing that.
"You are cute, Jiminie. Thank you so much."
Hobi decided not to interfere just yet, best to let the kid make a connection to Ten first before introducing him to even more people. He did seem like a cute kid, at least from a distance.
"I'm sure you will be a big boy soon. Coming to kindergarten is such a big boy thing!" Ten cheered on, smiling at him and helping the boy eat his breakfast, just in case he struggled. He was pretty good at it and he watched as Jimin and Tae ate together, keeping an eye on all the tiny kids at his table and helping where he was needed.
"TaeTae, do you wanna play with my puppy?" Jimin held up his stuffed puppy, Chimmy, making barking noises and then grinning at Tae. While the tiny kids all bonded and played, Ten finally got up.
Walking over to Hobi, he pulled a face. "I got got info-dumped on by a five year old. This kid is cute but he will be hard work."
"You think so? Seems harmless." Hobi put a hand on Ten's shoulder, keeping his eyes on the children, just in case he needed to do crowd control. With kids, things could go from peaceful to panic in a second.
Right now Tae and Jimin certainly seemed like they were getting along well, Tae was asking the puppy what its name was and barking excitedly too. He loved playing puppy! "It's so cool you have a toy like that!"
His father didn't like toys for big boys, so he didn't really have any. He carefully reached out to pet the puppy. "Oh, he is so soft! I think he loves you a lot, Jiminie!"
"He's very attached to his hyung and he just told me about his eomma dying so I don't know, might have emotional issues. We'll just keep an eye on him." A girl ran up to Ten, crying over getting paint in her hair and Ten was on the job, as always, taking her to clear up. He liked kids, he really did, he just never wanted one long term.
"Do you wanna hold Chimmy? You can if you wanna. He gives good hugs." He passed Chimmy over to Tae and then took the boy's hand, pulling him along. "Let's go play outside! There's a sandbox and swings. Chimmy loves all of them."
