"You can get a push barrier when you're 15." That was his rule. He booped Tae's nose and set him down on the floor, giving the cap to Tae so he could keep a hold of it. "Apparently I need that hat to look like I know you. I wonder what else will make me look like I know you, hmm?" Namjoon, for the most part, was pretty good at finding clothes that worked for him, fit him and looked good. He didn't really care much for brands or labels, he was more interested in stuff that would last him.
God, he was such an old man. He realised this the moment he picked up some jeans, tugged the denim and looked at Yoongi with an excited smile. "Thermal for winter and heavy duty so they won't rip. How badass is that?" Oh yeah. Nothing more badass than heavy duty work jeans.
"Pretty badass." What a cutie. Yoongi glanced down at his own very ripped and very expensive jeans, smirking at Tae, who was curiously poking at his knee through one of the holes.
"I want holey jeans." They looked cool.
"Maybe next time." Did they make such jeans for kids? Yoongi didn't even know. "Joon-ah, get a couple different pairs of jeans? I wanna see you in them. From the front and back."
"So demanding, oppa." Namjoon teased playfully as he slipped away and got a load of different jeans. Straight leg, ripped, skinny. Whatever. He didn't care, he supposed to needed new pants. Yesterday Kookie saw a homeless guy and mistook him for Namjoon - Hobi laughed so hard telling the story, he could still hear the laughter.
"I'll try them on, watch Tae for me?"
He supposed he should just see if they were working for him. He reached down and ruffled Tae's hair, glad that he could trust Yoongi with him. "Be a good boy, hyung is trying not to look like a hobo."
"Hobi-hyung." Tae remembered that day, Hobi had been so very amused and when Hobi laughed, he always had to laugh too, even when he didn't entirely understand what it was about. Yoongi lifted him up and walked over to the counter, because he'd spotted some pretty cool things there. By the time Namjoon came back out, him and Tae had picked out some jewellery and a watch for him, enough to make Tae bounce excitedly and hold on to Yoongi's neck.
It was cute. He hadn't been this close to people for this long in a very long time and it felt good. "Found something that looks good on you, Joon-ah? I'm dating someone with long legs, I wanna see them properly."
"We got you stuff!" Tae couldn't hold back any longer.
"...you are really good at keeping secrets, huh? Noted." Yoongi snorted, not that bothered.
"He can't keep a secret, I gave up trying years ago. He always tells Hobi and Jin what their christmas presents are." He was not good at holding anything back. Namjoon set the jeans down in a neat stack and nodded in approval. "I like all of these. If you wanna get them for me, they'll work. I got some tight fit, I'm sure you'll appreciate it."
Smiling playfully, he leaned forward and peeked curiously at what they were doing. What did they get him? Was it more stuff so he looked like he was dating Yoongi?
"What did you get me? Is it sunglasses cause I need those desperately."
"Nah, though you should pick out a pair or two, you'll need it for the trip... Tae should have one too. Camera, flash, you kind of need something." Good thing he remembered that. He gestured to the counter, where the stuff him and Tae had picked out was still laid out. "Tae and I decided that you need accessories."
"Yes! Now you can be fancy, like Yoongi-hyung." Tae had already become fond of playing with Yoongi's rings, so this seemed like a really good idea. "Hyung, you need shirts! I'll find you shirts."
He wiggled until Yoongi let him down and ran off, while Yoongi moved to stand next to Namjoon, gesturing toward the shoes. "Wanna show me your dream pair?"
"Okay but don't come back with anything weird!" Oh, well, look who he was talking to? He just had to hope that Tae had good taste or he was going to walk out of here with some weird shirts. He just liked simple, honestly. A plain tee could do it's job just fine. "What? The shoes? Oh, shit, sure. I can show you. It's not that big of a deal, man. I just really like the designer more than anything."
He led Yoongi along to where the Y3 shoes were and wandered along, picking out his favourite pair that he'd been eyeing for a while now.
"See, they're not like every day shoes, more hype shoes so they'd never be worth the price tag cause I need reliable over fancy." He gestured at his boots... they had definitely seen better days. The sole was coming off on the left side. He set the shoe back on display and then wandered off ahead. "If I got shoes now, I'd get vans or chucks, you know? I love vans classic but again, too pricey."
"It's like you don't care about crabs, Joon-ah." Yoongi tsked with mock-disapproval, gesturing for a shop clerk and gesturing at the shoes. "We need those in his size. Whatever that is. What's your size?"
Something big, he guessed. "And then we need shoes that are reliable. Ones for every day wear, still stylish, what do you think?"
He let the clerk make some suggestions, watching Namjoon's face more than anything. "Think of the crabs, Joon-ah."
Namjoon gave over his size, surprisingly average, and then nodded his head in thanks. This was surreal. He was really going to try on these kind of shoes? Shit. That was the dream. He remembered going around this store with Hobi, picking them up and telling him he'd have them one day when he was a famous rapper.
It was surreal to stand here and know he could just get them.
Not just them but half these shoes and the price was insane. Double that for the crabs... whatever crab charity it was that Yoongi thought he could give it too. "I'll, uh, yeah. I'll try them on." He had a few recs and the clerk was off to get them. Namjoon didn't even know what to do. "This is fucking surreal, dude."
"Yeah? Just wait until I break out the bling." Yoongi smirked, mostly joking about that. He leaned against Namjoon, smiling up at him and if he hadn't had the paranoid feeling that some people might be looking in their direction, he'd have kissed Namjoon right then and there. But he had promised him to avoid media attention until they were good and ready. "It's so weird though, I know. I still forget I'm not poor sometimes. But that's good. Remembering. Gotta stay humble. Give back."
"I just always assumed I'd never have the cash, I accepted it and I'm okay with it. I really am. As long as Tae is happy, I can live with my shitty gear and all. Being told I can have anything here? It's just strange." The clerk came back and set a load of boxes back while Namjoon wandered away, leaning on the rails and trying to spy. "Tae?! Tae, get your butt back here or you'll miss out on my cool shoes!"
If he didn't come back, he'd have to go find him. He couldn't leave a five year old roaming loose. Sitting down on the bench, he looked over the shoe boxes and tried on the work shoes first. "Man, genuine leather. Fancy."
"You are looking very genuine. Fancy boy." Yoongi looked at him approvingly, then to the side when Tae came back, followed by a clerk carrying a whole bunch of clothes. Apparently Tae had found someone to help him.
"Hyung, now you can look like you are cool!" Properly being cool was a later stop, he felt. "Get all the shoes." He was on board with them. "And I got you hoodies, so you'll be warm!"
"Man, Tae, you got a lot of stuff." These clerks must be having a field day. Namjoon laughed with good humour and slowly, he tried on each pair of shoes and nodded in approval, just thinking of the crabs every time he looked at a price tag. It made it a lot easier. When he finally got to his dream pair, he opened the box and slipped them on.
Holy shit, they were plush as fuck. This was luxury.
"God damn, they feel great." He grinned at Tae and held his foot out so he could see better. "What do you think, bud? Am I a fancy boy yet? Cool enough to date Yoongi?"
"Nuh-uh, you have to wear it all first. Then you can be cool."
Tae was strict about the criteria and Yoongi ruffled his hair, unable to stop smiling. These brothers were making that happen a lot already.
"Don't think I've ever looked forward to a our as much as this time. Tokyo Dome and you two, I'm a lucky guy." And the money obviously didn't worry him, although he fully intended to give his crab promise. "What do you say we get this all in my car and I drive you home? We can stop somewhere for dessert."
"I say you're the best boyfriend ever. Dude, I can't believe you're gonna get us this stuff. And hey, at least we'll look cool for Tokyo." Packing the shoes away, he held them out to the clerk and, after hesitating a little, he nodded. For the crabs. He could do this for the crabs. And for TaeTae.
"You'll look really cool." Yoongi handed a credit card to someone, focusing more on being in the moment with Tae and Namjoon, especially since Tae was holding both of their hands now, smiling happily. Apparently this time around, buying things hadn't been so scary. "We'll get to the airport together, when we fly to Tokyo..."
He frowned, turning to look at Namjoon. "You have to think about whether you want to walk through the airport with me or not." He was sure Namjoon would understand why that could be an issue.
