"Hoseok-nim, how hard is it to get one of these?" Ten asked as he gestured to the pearl in his forehead, lowering his hand back down to continue petting his snakes. He liked where Hoseok lived, it was always such a safe place and he came back often - usually bringing him gifts. Whether or not Ten was becoming a God, he still gave Hoseok tribute... in the form of berries he picked and cool looking fruits but hey.

Way better than gold and diamonds. Who didn't love food? "Are they dangerous?"

"They are power." So, yes. Power was dangerous. Hobi stretched out, looking over at Ten and smiling a little. They discussed many things, so he wasn't suspecting anything, simply tried to think of the best way to explain it. "It's a quest of sorts. Getting one. At least initially. After that... I gained my own pearl a long, long time ago. By mortal standards, anyway. And after that, ever since, I've been growing the one you have now. But I couldn't do what I've done for you for anyone else again for a long, long time. It's power that I've gathered over time. Godliness?"

He shrugged and reached out, stroking the hair back from Ten's forehead. "I have no regrets with my choice."

"So it takes a long time to make and to give? And you gave it to me... huh." Well, that made him feel weird inside. Beloved but unsure, he didn't know how to feel about it. Was it wasted? He wasn't much of a God, he didn't know what he was doing but -- this made everything way harder. Ten frowned and wrapped his arms around his legs, glaring at the wall. Damn it! Stupid Jackson and his stupid want for the pearl that he couldn't even get because he wasn't a real God. And now there might be a war?

Would Yoongi get hurt? He couldn't let that happen. "Can all Gods make one or just you?"

"Only snake gods. You know that pearls are sacred, of course. Our kind and the god pearls, we are tied to each other. No one knows what came first, the first god pearl or the first snake god." Hobi shifted closer to Ten, until he was facing him, wrapping an arm around his waist so he could hold him, maybe reassure him. Why was he so put out?

"I found my pearl. A long, long time ago, as I said. They can be found by anyone, really, but only someone with the right potential will become a god through its power. In my case, I had to be a very old snake first."

"Being a God is very confusing." He leaned his head on Hobi's chest and pouted a little. Now he had to somehow find one? This was impossible. He was going to have to tell Jackson he couldn't and then -- then he was fucked. Maybe he could just ask Yoongi to go and ... and stop fighting for him. That was possible too. If Yoongi just went back and stopped thinking about him, he wouldn't need the pearl.

But then he lost Yoongi... ah, fuck, this was hard. "My head hurts." Too many rules, too many things to follow. "What if I needed to find a pearl?"

"Hmm... It's a quest, finding a pearl. Sometimes it can take decades, even centuries. Sometimes the right person can stumble upon one at the right time or at least find the way to go. Always perilous. I almost lost my life more than once, back then." Reaching up, Hobi combed his fingers through Ten's hair. "You could send your champion on that quest. I suppose that would fall right in line. Why do you want a pearl, my beloved?"

"I can't use Yoongi, I-- Hobi-nim... the Gods from the north are mad at me. I think. I don't know, it's very confusing. A guy called Jackson, who was a stone but now he's a God, he wants me to get him a pearl because I took Yoongi from them." Or whatever. He didn't know, he was too flustered to remember it all. "Because he's my champion, it's an insult to them. Kinda. So we have to appease them. And Jackson asked for a pearl."

And he didn't know how to find one. And if he didn't, would Yoongi get hurt? He owed him too much to do that to him. "I don't know what to do."

"I see." Hobi frowned, trying to make sense of it. He pulled Ten into his arms fully, kissed the back of his neck and thought about it. "I have heard of Jackson. They can't be that upset yet, they have definitely sent the nicest of the bunch. Not the friendliest of Gods, those Northerners."

As one would expect, given that rough culture. "Yoongi chose to fight for you, Ten. He chose to become your champion too. If the choice now is between him finding this pearl for you or no longer being yours, shouldn't you trust him to do what is right by him?"

"I just don't like asking more of him when he's done so much for me. And if I keep him out in the world any longer, I'm just going to cockblock him from his new potential love. And he deserves love." Yoongi deserved to be loved, wanted and cherished. And Jimin could do that, he knew Jimin, he was a nice, soft boy who could take care of Yoongi. All Ten wanted was to make Yoongi happy, to thank him for all he's done.

"I guess I have to ask him but it still feels wrong." He nuzzled against Hobi and sighed, resting his chin on Hobi's shoulder and pouting. "Being a God is kinda sucky."

"Oh, you'll get the hang of it. If it helps, most Gods tend to not keep track of time a lot, so you are probably at least not in much of a hurry where the pearl is concerned." Hobi leaned in and kissed Ten softly, sensing his unhappiness. "You are already on your way to being a great God, Ten. You want to do right by your people, trust me, that is more than most gods ever learn to deem important."

"My people will be happy. I know they will." Ten would always try to make sure that at least his people would live good lives. That was what mattered. For now, he would focus on keeping them safe, helping them rebuild and, hopefully, finding this dumb pearl. Maybe he could ask Yoongi. But first, he was going to give him some time to just try and have some downtime. Yoongi needed a break. "Thank you, Hobi." He tilted his head back and kissed his God in return, smiling happily at him. "I love you."
