"I don't know. Your people are a work of art, all unto themselves. Look at how handsome you are. So handsome! You don't get men as handsome as you here, you get cute and pretty but not like this." Not that Yoongi wasn't also pretty but damn. He reached out and stroked along his cheek, wishing he had a good reason to kiss him again. His cute warrior.
"We don't like to fight here. We're not fighters. We put our faith in our Gods. I guess if we ever get into trouble, that's what we have friends for." He grinned at Yoongi, pulling his hand back. "If I ever get into trouble, you'll come save me - right?"
"Of course." Yoongi responded immediately and quite seriously, then caught on to the fact that Ten was just teasing and tried a smile to lessen any potential awkwardness. He did at long last turn around to pick up the pants Ten had prepared for him, putting them on.
"I'm sorry. I'm not good at talking." Maybe one day he would be a little better at it, but right now he seemed to settle for silence more often than not.
His cheek still felt warm where Ten had touched him.
"I like the way you talk. It's earnest. You don't play games. We all play games here but you're easier. I won't play with you." He didn't think he could, he was too sweet. He reached out and dusted off his jacket, adjusting it all and tweaking Yoongi's hair. "So handsome. I'm going to introduce you as my protector. You will save me if I have a problem, any problem."
Walking over to his enclosure, he slipped Udon back in with his brothers and made sure everyone was settled. "We can discuss snake care at dinner."
"Good. I know nothing about snakes." Except that apparently at least some of them weren't as terrifying as he had been led to believe. He looked at the one that was his - Udon - smiling a little as he watched him move. He could have thought of worse pets, something like that was perhaps something he could actually keep.
"I'm not supposed to be inside, really. I'm the youngest of the soldiers of my rank. My superiors might want an explanation." He wasn't sure how far being Ten's protector was going to stretch. "You should have met me after promotion. I'm nothing right now."
"You're plenty. In my culture, anyone can be invited. Anyone! I could have a hobo from outside come in and sit with me. Our family has a different way of being and we're in our territory right now. Our rules, I guess." He didn't want Yoongi to not feel welcome. He placed a hand on his back and tried to gently push him forward. "My dad will want to meet you anyway. Udon was bred from his pet snake, he'll want to know who's taking the baby home."
With a smile, he purposefully took Yoongi's hand and started to lead him along. "What do you like to eat? Warriors like things like meat, right? Like big chunks of it."
"I guess." Yoongi frowned, thinking about it. "I eat pretty much anything. I don't like sweet stuff too much." But sometimes that was all right too, so it wasn't as if he was very specific. He looked down at their hands, wondering what it meant, if it meant anything. Touching was normal in his culture, but usually it was in a vaguely painful kind of way. This was different.
"I will be promoted." He just wanted Ten to know that he'd be worthier soon. He didn't like bragging, but this was different. He liked Ten. "I'll be a commander soon."
"Oh, so cool! That means you can visit more. I like you, you should come back. Your men are cute too. They don't know what to do with us. Especially not my sisters." They pretty much ate the men alive and spat them back out. It was kind of their thing. Not that the boys were much better either. They were all kind of the same. Ten expected to do that himself but Yoongi made his heart race.
He didn't want to hurt him or scare him, use him or play with him. He just wanted to be with him. Holding his hand was nice. "I will never be king, just fyi, not a chance in hell but I do get to do more diplomacy stuff when I'm older. We could work together."
"I'm not sure if I'm very good at diplomacy. Mostly I kill things." Wait, did that sound too gruesome? Yoongi frowned and licked his lips, trying to think of a way to appeal to a prince. This wasn't Namjoon, but maybe he could tap into the same well anyway? "I can read and write though."
Mainly due to Namjoon, but still. It would certainly be a way to get closer to Namjoon, if anyone ever wanted to do that. "I like your country. It's beautiful. I don't know if you'd like it where I'm from. It's not like here at all. But the mountains are worth seeing."
"I can read and write in five languages. We have to trade a lot, we have many close friends, we get brought up to know the languages. I usually like to write more in my own language but I don't often get to." Usually he wrote to the kingdom just east of them. That was their main export area. "I like where I live too! It's beautiful and the people are wonderful. It's a lovely place, everyone here just tries to stay together and obey the Gods."
Take care of the snakes and give offerings to their deities. However big or small. "You come from the mountains? Oh, pretty. I wanna see! You should take me some day."
"It's pretty much all mountains. My village is so high up, people from the plains find it hard to breathe." Yoongi smiled, wondering when he'd be there again and how much Jungkook would have grown still. He was almost a man now. If Yoongi received the suspected honours after this was over, Jungkook might be able to climb up the ranks a lot faster than him. Their family's standing would change.
It was a nice thought. "You should teach me how to write in your language. At least a little. Maybe your name?"
"My fake name or my real name cause that's a long one. My short name is easier. T-E-N." He spelt it aloud in his own language, tracing it a few times in the air. "You should write it down, hyung! Remember me forever. Then you can write to me, thank me for giving you Udon when he's a big, strong noodle."
He'd probably be a great deterrent, not a great fighter. He was a shy boy, he didn't like unease. "We could trade languages. Yoongi is Y-O-O-N-G-I - I thinnnnk. Am I close?"
"Yes. You are very good at languages." Yoongi really was impressed. He struggled to speak any language but his own, although his understanding wasn't too bad for the most part, but Ten seemed to be more like Namjoon. Entirely too smart for their own good. "Sometimes they call me Suga. Because of my skin, it's white and they say I look sweet."
Honestly, it was not a nice nickname, but Yoongi had decided a while ago to just own it.
"That's so cute! Heh." Ten came to a halt before the dining area and looked at Yoongi before impulsively leaning closer and licking his cheek playfully. He clicked his tongue a few times before making a happy sound. "Oh yes! That definitely tasted sweet. You're like a big pile of sugar."
Giggling playfully, he wiped Yoongi's cheek and then pulled him along happily. "Come on, Suga! I need to show off my handsome date!"
