He'd been on his way as soon as he'd gotten that odd text. His heart was trapped in his chest as he drove there, stealing the car while the drive had a smoke and driving like a fucking lunatic to get there. He pulled up on the curb, inches from the wall, throwing the door open. "What the fuck happened?"
Yoongi was talking to one of the staff members, while pretty much all the other ones were gathered around them, consoling each other, quite a few of them in shock. Not all of them were standing there, some of them were being tended to.
He turned away when he heard Namjoon enter, immediately walking up to him and putting an arm on his shoulder to keep him focused. "Only casualties are two patrons, but apparently they were dicks anyway. It was the Dark Dragons. Plan was to execute the staff. Seems like Jin changed their mind."
It was difficult to get a straight story out of a bunch of traumatised civilians, but Yoongi had tried. "Namjoon, they've taken Jin. He's still alive." Probably. "I don't know why they've taken him."
This was not the kind of news he had ever wanted to have to break to his best friend. Dark Dragons weren't exactly known for their gentle handling of hostages.
"No, how did they-- no, this isn't possible." Fuck. What the hell did he do? He didn't know how to react. He just wanted to call Jin or message him but he couldn't. He pushed past Yoongi, not meaning to be rude but his head was on the job right now. He approached the employees and talked to them, just living out the moment Jin gave himself up for them.
God, he must have been so scared. He was always so scared. Movies, loud noises, guns. He didn't like anything like that.
"The guy definitely looked like this?" He had a picture of Cheon, one Jimin had given them to circulate, and he held it up to appraising nods. "Fuck! Fuck!"
Namjoon angrily kicked a nearly table and grabbed a glass, just throwing it at the wall. A known rapist and psychopath had his boyfriend. He felt like he could explode, he didn't even know what to do or how to stop this from going anywhere bad. "We need Cheon's number! Place of contact. I don't care. Is he still in his apartment?"
"No. I have men there around the clock, he's not there." Yoongi watched Namjoon, not surprised to see him this visibly angry and desperate. It made sense, Namjoon always externalised a lot, he just usually didn't get angry. Obviously this was different.
"Listen, Namjoon. They took Jin, it must have been to make a point. If they are making a point, they can't just kill him or damage him too much. We will get him." Not that he had anything much to go on right now. Did they know that Jin was Namjoon's boyfriend, was that the reason they'd taken him? Fucking cowards. Jin was a civilian in addition to being Namjoon's boyfriend, two things that should have made him immune. Dark Dragons really had no honour.
"I had a deal with Hobi that I'd let his people deal with Cheon, but that's over now."
"God." Namjoon felt his head throb from the tension and he leaned forward, burying his head in his hands and making a small noise of frustration. None of this was comforting. He looked up at the bartender and gestured for him to come on. "Kang-Joon, get me Jin's laptop, please? He keeps it in the office, doesn't he?"
He could try and track him down. As the bartender ran off to get the laptop, he pulled out his phone and started to run the software already. The laptop was set down next to him but he didn't look up.
"Drive me around, Yoongi." He didn't feel like explaining himself, he didn't want to talk a lot right now. He just needed his friend to support him and help him. He didn't care what they had to do or were supposed to do. This was Jin.
"Yes." No, driving someone around really wasn't his job and he had a lot of other things to worry about, given that other places might get hit, but this was his best friend and this was Jin and so he didn't hesitate, holding Namjoon's arm to guide him as he headed for his car, putting the laptop under his arm. "Watch out, steps."
He realised that Namjoon wasn't paying attention to his surroundings right now.
Namjoon just made a noise as finally, his software connected and he scanned the area for any trace that Jin still had the necklace he gave him and it was still activated. He didn't just rely on that, he tried to track his phone and his credit card too, hitting everything as hard as he could.
"Drive straight ahead and take the first right, keep going." He had a blue line on his phone and he set the phone in the holder they usually reserved for satnav.
He fumbled to open the laptop, using it to load up and double check his stats. If anyone could find a man in a place like Seoul with no info or clues, it was probably Namjoon. "His phone is deactivated but the tracker is active."
"What did you do, chip your man?" Didn't seem like the worst idea, honestly, but Yoongi was still curious. He obviously didn't argue with the directions, just driving the way Namjoon told him, slightly concerned over whether they should have brought more manpower. Whatever. He could take care of himself and Namjoon could... Hopefully not shoot the wrong people.
"...I didn't think this would happen, Namjoon. I'm sorry, I didn't see it coming." Should he have? Yoongi wasn't sure. The restaurant wasn't even officially affiliated with them! Still, it was his responsibility to predict attacks. "We will get him back."
"We don't know that. They did this on purpose." They wanted to upset him, maybe get something from him, he didn't even know. That was the problem. It could happen again, he needed to know. To understand why the took Jin. "I'm going to go on in ahead when we get there, it looks like it's a warehouse. Jin has a tracker in his necklace and it's beeping there. Go Left. Look... Yoongi, you must trust me. I'll go in ahead and you gather up backup. I need to know why Cheon did this."
If it was an attack aimed at him or to get his attention then he had to be sure. He had to be certain that he knew what he was fighting. And right now, he was just running blind. "If we go in any other way, I'm afraid Jin won't make it. Please. Trust me."
"...you know I trust you." Yoongi had about a million 'buts' to add to that. Still, for now he left it at that, following the directions and trying to think about how to word his thoughts. He doubted that it would do much good to remind Namjoon of his crappy aim or how badly he dealt with violence right now. He knew all that.
"Are you sure, Namjoon? I don't know if Cheon is in a talking mood."
"I'm very sure. Gather up people, give me five minutes and come in after those five minutes. Okay?" Namjoon set the laptop on the floor on the car and pulled out his gun, making sure it was loaded and ready for action. Namjoon often hated to use his gun, any way to avoid it was preferable. That wasn't an option now.
"It'll be okay. Pull up here, this is it." He felt sick to his stomach, not because he worried about himself but because anything could be happening to Jin and he didn't think he could handle if he was dead.
Yoongi nodded his head as he stopped the car, phone already in hand to text the address out to some people. It really had a lot of advantages, using tech the way they did. Even more so when giving boyfriends trackable presents, he had to remember that one. Obviously right now wasn't the time to discuss it with Namjoon, so he simply reached out and put a hand on his shoulder.
"Five minutes." He would have hugged him, but he didn't really want to risk that. "If you ring me before then, I'm going in early."
Namjoon got out of the car without any more words, he was all business and there was no time for small talk. He checked his gun again as he walked towards the place, slipping inside quietly and moving around to duck behind some shipping containers. He could hear faint sounds of people and slowly, he moved towards it, ready to show himself once he knew what he was getting into.
"Don't cut his face. He's pretty." Cheon watched with a lot of interest, honestly turned on more than anything. It was always nice to find a boy who was even prettier when crying, it could be a little hard to come by. Jimin had been like that too, all shiny eyes and pouty lips. Anyone with a face like that was just begging to be hurt.
Obviously in actuality Jin was begging for the opposite, the pleading still almost intelligible, even with the bit gag strapped in his mouth. It was mostly to keep him from biting his mouth anyway.
Jin had been stripped, strapped into a chair made especially for the purpose of torture and, yes, obviously he'd been tortured. They wanted him to be in a lot of pain quickly, so they'd used electric shocks, just low enough not to knock him out, and now moved on to cutting him, just another step in the process.
"I'm going to fuck you." Cheon felt like telling him, very satisfied when he got panicked struggling and desperate head-shaking in combination with those pathetic whimpers as a reaction. This was so fun. So easy. "I'll make you choke on my dick too. You look like you need a real man."
Namjoon felt so much anger inside himself but he tried not to let it rule him. Anger always led to stupid mistakes, he always told Yoongi that and he supposed he could see now why he always got snappy and annoyed. After all, it was so frustrating to keep a level head.
"That's rude, not a nice way to talk about a guy. Is it?"
Namjoon came out from the shadows, clearly armed and not lowering his gun as he walked forward. He met Cheon's eyes and shook his head slowly. "Someone wanted my attention, I'm guessing. Or were you just going for me to get to Yoongi. Either way, this was incredibly stupid of you."
He tried not to look at Jin, he couldn't crack and give in, not in front of this monster. He had to stay calm and that meant not looking at his lover in such a sad state. "What do you want, Cheon?"
"Please. I don't even know your name." Cheon scoffed, while some of the men in the room trained their guns on Namjoon and Jin looked at his boyfriend with tear-filled eyes, not even sure what to hope for here. Of course Cheon did know Namjoon's name, he wasn't ignorant, he just wanted the man to know how little he mattered to him. "All I wanted to do was hit one of the Min places. That one's not officially yours, so I figured it wouldn't be protected."
And evidently it hadn't been. He shrugged his shoulders and stepped forward, so he could put a hand on Jin's chest, smearing some of his blood as he moved the hand lower down, causing Jin to whimper again. Damn, this was beautiful. "He offered himself and, hey, I can never resist a pretty whore."
He smiled, shrugging his shoulders. "How much did you have to pay for someone like that? Bet he's not cheap."
"I don't pay for my men, I'm not a pig." Namjoon clarified as he came in closer and ignored the men training guns on him. "I'm Kim Namjoon, you know exactly who I am. I don't want to play games and I don't like to be cruel but you're leaving me little choice. And as you can see, I'm not about to beat you down, am I? I have to play my own way." He knew that he couldn't beat men like this with fighting, weapons or anything like that but he could stall them out for five minutes.
And show them just what a nerd could achieve when they were messing with his boyfriend. Namjoon rattled off a flow of numbers, quirking an eyebrow at Cheon.
"Do those numbers ring a bell? They should. It's your card number. The security code is 768." There was little that Namjoon didn't know. If it was online, he knew about it. He looked around the room, meeting the eyes of every man there. "I hope he paid you all in advance. Right now, his total balance is 0.00. You're not looking at a lot of benefits here, boys."
"...he's bluffing." Honestly, Cheon wasn't even sure whether that was true or not, due to the simple fact that he didn't really remember any of those numbers. He was fairly sure that his security code started with 7, but either way he knew that he couldn't show any weakness in front of his men, so he focused on dealing with the problem at hand, while they glanced at each other, slightly unsure what was happening. "It's not like I pay them personally anyway, you nerd. My private account has nothing to do with this."
He had made it Dark Dragons business after all. Cheon moved his hand to cover Jin's mouth, holding his nose shut with two fingers, soon causing Jin to struggle desperately, fighting for air. "Put your gun down and get on your knees, if you don't want to watch him die."
"No but I was just using an example." Namjoon dropped his gun and graciously got on his knees, polite and gracious as to keep Jin alive. "I can get into any bank account, I've been doing it for years. I'm a nerd and I'm very proud. Top 1% of my country. Your boss had five accounts, I know the numbers to two. One off shore, one bank of Seoul. I took them earlier today. Not all his money but that's a chunk of money. That's a big hole in your funds."
He eyed the men around them once more. "There goes your bonuses, I guess." Oh well. "You know what gangs love more than loyalty? Money. The ultimate language. I'm going to keep taking it and taking it. Not just from him, from all your men. Anyone who stands with you. I'm going to make you the most hated person in your own gang, Cheon. They're going to know you're the reason. I wonder how long your boss will tolerate it. Is one man really worth that much? I doubt it."
Originally he'd started this to help out Jimin but now Jin was in danger, it was a move he didn't regret. "I just wanted you to know, personally, what I'm going to do to you."
Yoongi would be coming very soon, he'd counted down and idly checked his watch before looking at the men again. "Are your lives definitely worth a man who can't pay you? Think about that when they start firing."
"You have fun doing that when you are dead, you fucker." Cheon had his gun aimed and there was a shot, but instead of Namjoon getting hit, Cheon's gun landed on the ground and he held his hand, immediately making a run for it.
Well, he knew what was up, it was rather obvious once Min Yoongi stepped into view, flanked by two people, shots already coming from other directions. Jin mercifully seemed to be either unconscious or close to it by then and Yoongi kept walking until he was standing right next to Namjoon, hoping that he would stay down. It didn't take long, such things never did. Yoongi looked at one of his man, gesturing with his hand, silently signalling him to take count of the bodies and injuries so he could report to him later.
Then he bent down, offering Namjoon a hand to help him up. "Jin didn't get hit." He'd made sure of that, he couldn't speak for his state otherwise, but he left it to Namjoon to go and free him.
Namjoon nodded and rushed over to Jin, pulling his pocket knife out and slicing through every last bit of bondage, only stopping to undo the gag gently and get the leather from his mouth. "I got you, Jinnie. Promise. I got you." God, he was a mess. He caught him when he fell forward, now free from his bonds. He gathered Jin into his arms and off the chair, dropping down on the floor with him.
"Get the Doc for me and send him to my place, we'll meet him there." No hospitals, too dangerous. They'd go to his and their backalley doctor could just make a house visit, he didn't care how late it was.
"Jinnie, hey, you there at all?" Namjoon tried to smile, afraid to let himself feel any emotions because he knew he'd just break down and cry. Which he didn't have time to do. "We're going to go back to mine, okay? You like my place. When I tidy it. It's mostly tidy right now." He held Jin close and gently stroked his hair, trying to see if there were any signs of life there.
"There's a car for you two outside. Try to get some liquid in him, if you can." Yoongi wanted to go with Namjoon, really, to try and be there for him, but he had no time. He already felt his phone vibrating and he knew there was more to deal with. More to deal with and he wouldn't have Namjoon by his side. "Just focus on Jin. I'll give you an update on other stuff later."
He doubted he had to make that an order, Namjoon always had trouble remembering that anything else even existed when Jin was in the room and right now? Yeah, he was pretty sure the whole world could collapse and he wouldn't leave Jin's side for even a second. He breathed a sigh of relief when Jin's eyes opened, then stepped aside to talk to the man he'd put in charge of appraising the scene.
Jin looked at Namjoon, his breath hitching, his mind not quite having caught up to the changed situation yet. He remembered gun sounds and he wondered if he was dead, but then decided there was too much pain for that. Maybe just dying. "Love you." His voice sounded awful. He made a face and tried to clear his throat, but that hurt even more.
"Keep me posted, yeah?" Namjoon knew he couldn't just neglect everything for Jin but he could definitely take time off for this. He gripped Jin tight and stroked some of his hair away from his eyes - he didn't look like he needed any serious medical intervention, he could probably treat a lot of this at home.
"You're going to have some manly scars on you, huh? Just try not to move and stay still. I'm going to flag one of my men down, they'll car you to the car outside. You can trust them."
There was no way in hell that Namjoon could carry a guy like Jin so he held his hand up and the strongest guy came over. "You drop him, you die."
Jin had trouble staying aware, not sure if it was the shock or the aftereffects of what he'd been put through physically, but either way he didn't want to let go of Namjoon. Unfortunately he had to, so he pressed his lips together and closed his eyes to pretend that this wasn't happening, which fortunately worked a little better than it had before. The lack of torture was helping.
He really, really wished that he wasn't naked, but he supposed he had already given up on his dignity today after all the crying, begging and pleading he had done.
