"...thank you. I bathe." He had a feeling that Sangwoo did not, but he supposed that was to be expected. He was looking off to the side to not accidentally make eye contact and then when he turned his head again, suddenly Sangwoo was right there. His eyes widened, his heart bat faster and he edged away a little, hoping it wouldn't be too noticeable. "We want nothing bad here. I'm Yejoon. I'm just an assistant. I help the others."
"I'm Sangwoo. I hunt, I protect and I provide." Sangwoo informed Yejoon as he edged with him, not sure what they were doing but Yejoon was such an odd, twitchy little bunny that he just followed him. He wasn't sure if the movement was voluntary or not. He smiled, cocking his head to the side. "You're funny, I like that."
Well, he did. Honest. "You're like a rabbit I caught once. He moved the same as you." He also twitched in the same oddly indignant way. "Rabbits are cute."
"Thank you." He supposed. Yejoon huffed, not really feeling all that flattered. "I'm a man." In case there was any confusion about that. What was it with people belittling him? At least Sangwoo said he was cute, that was better than what Cheon sometimes said. Often with Jaebum laughing about it. "I'm glad you didn't cut me."
"You are a man. I can tell by your shoulders and hips. Very manly." Sangwoo agreed with a nod and then looked him over curiously. He wasn't weak by any means, though he didn't stand much of a chance against him at all. He wasn't Ten scrawny or TaeTae soft but he was definitely not the peak of masculinity. "I love it here."
Sangwoo looked around before inhaling the air happily and tilting his head back to look at the beautiful sky. "It's where I live so I should love it. If I'm kind to her, she's kind to me. We protect where we live."
"Where you live, you say she? The island?" That was interesting. Yejoon nodded, looking around. "It is very beautiful here. You have so many animals that I've never seen before. Not outside of books."
It was fascinating. He wished he had time to just properly study everything. "Your leader is still really young. He looks younger than you."
It was interesting. He assumed the feather guy was their leader? He wasn't sure how it worked.
"Yeah, the rocks are her and she formed this island for us and she holds it in her arms." He gestured towards a mountain in the distance, it did have a slight humanish head looking formation. If one squinted. "The others know the full story better than I. I wasn't not an attentive student so I never listened. I liked hunting." He knew what he was good at and he made a living from it. He sold pelts, shared meat and used bone to make weapons.
He was well respected and well liked, though he always kept to himself.
"My leader?" Sangwoo turned his head and looked at Minjun before shaking his head. "That's not our leader, he's our prophet. The Gods guide him and we do as he tells us but he doesn't govern."
"I see. Probably for the best, if his hair choices are anything to go by." Yejoon muttered it, then quickly covered his mouth with one hand, looking apologetic. Oops. Way to be an idiot. He assumed there was significance to the way the guy dressed up, he shouldn't be making fun of it. "I mean... I guess it means something, right? The way he is dressed."
It looked kind of cool, in a way? Just very out there. "I prefer how you are dressed."
"Don't disrespect the prophet. Some people would hurt you for that. Ten lashings for most." He was a guest though so he'd be lenient and not rat him out. He owed him for scaring him and besides, he felt the Gods would forgive his disrespect. He'd pray for him tonight. "Minjun-nim loves dress up and everything he does, it has a meaning."
He didn't tell the meaning because, well, it was a warning to everyone but these outsiders.
"Me?" He looked confused and then looked down. He just had his pants on. "Thanks." Sangwoo smirked and slapped his hand against his chest to show he was grateful. "I'm glad I please a pretty boy like you."
"It's a bit scary. What he is wearing. I think it looks fancy? But it's scary. Black birds like that, they mean bad things where I am from." Maybe he was a little too influenced by the stories from his childhood too. "I don't mean to disrespect him. My hyung spoke about him, he was very impressed."
He looked over to the hut now, wondering what might be happening inside. Then he looked back at Sangwoo. "Are the markings you have, the tattoos, are they all about how you are a good hunter?"
"The lion is my tribal animal. It's like a spirit, I guess. You don't decide it, your tribe decides it. They said I had the heart of a lion. I dunno about that but I do wanna be king of the jungle so." Sangwoo grinned playfully and then looked at himself, studying his markings. "They're not all about hunting. This one is Minjun-nim's name, this is my motto, my group symbols, some are prayers."
He looked up at Yejoon, showing his arm to him. "It's my life and my culture. I carry it with me."
"I see... Do you all have the prophet's name on your skin?" It was fascinating. All of it was, really. "My hyung would love to take pictures of you." And maybe he would like to study those pictures too. Well. He was also very good looking, in addition to having culturally significant tattoos on his skin.
"All I have is a necklace my mother gave me." He pulled it out of his shirt. "It's my birth stone."
"No, just me. We were friends before he was chosen." Sangwoo and Minjun had always been together. Even as babies, they played. Or just flailed at each other and dribbled. Babies, they didn't play much. With a small smile, he came closer to Yejoon and studied his necklace, careful not to touch or scare him off. "It's very ...pretty. Why is it a birth stone?"
At the mention of taking pictures, Sangwoo frowned and scratched his head. "There are no pictures of me... how would he take them?" They didn't exist.
